Kay, sorry I didn't answer your question sooner.:o I just saw it as I was reading back through the thread. I enjoy the beach, but my main interest is the Mayan ruins and jungle excursions. We've been to Chichen Itza, Tulum, and Palenque in Mexico. Chichen Itza is my fav. We've been there several times. There's a really cool cave on the way to Chichen Itza.......can't remember the name of it, but soooo enjoyed it. We were only in Belize for one day and night. We only had time to do a jungle tour. We're planning a 22-day "cultural immersion" trip. The trip includes Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Honduras. We're going in Feb of '09 or '10. My dh has referred to me as a jungle junkie....lol. I just think the ruins are so impressive and beautiful. |

Hi everyone,
I'm still new here but thought I'd come visit. I have FMS. It's been 33 and rainy here all day. Surpisingly I was able to get some shopping done but cut it short because legs got to wobbly and didn't want to fall down and scare anyone. Insomnia is pretty bad these days but at least I have the computer to keep me company on nights like this. I have to go for a biopsy of my uterus on Friday. So nervous alot about that. But trying to keep a positive outlook. talk more soon, don't want ya'll to get sick of me to quick, lol Sara |

What a beautiful area you must live in Kay.
I do have a love of ancient ruins like the one you showed, and have lots of photos saved on my computer, such as Chicken Itza and some of the Mayan ruins. I think if I had my life to do over again, I'd like to be an archeologist. Thank you for sharing. |
I want snow! We got a whopping 15... minutes of it last week. Just enough for the hillbillies to wreck their pick-em up trucks.
Today is a new day. With sobriety and weight loss. And life and the world in general. Going over some Moose Motivational Therapies. (Loud music and my journal). Today is a new day. |
Ah...music therapy. I love to listen to Nine Inch Nails really loud when I'm down coz Trent Reznor is sooo much more depressed and angry than me. It actually cheers me up LOL
|
lol, joelle! so true...
I come along but I don't know where you're taking me I shouldn't go but you're wrenching dragging shaking me turn off the sun, pull the stars from the sky the more I give to you, the more I die |

ooops, as usual, I forgot to update...
we just got back from the market, (on foot) carrying 100 lbs of leafy stuff for my farm animals. we were greeted by 60 hungry ducks, and 75 cheering chickens! the guinea pigs, goats, geese, rabbits, and pigs were pleased as well. everybody's now piggin' out at the salad bar! in a perfect world, I'd be growing my own, but it floods, seeds wash away, birds eat 'em, and bugs totally munch out. since I woke at 3 am (possum got into the chicken pens), and never got back to sleep, lol, I'm gonna SKIP the coffee, and go straight to NAP TIME !! :D PS: tomorrow's hatching day for the turkey eggs... and we just put SEVEN goose eggs in the incubator... |
I forgot to update too:o. I did too much yesterday.
I have a "floor mate" hard floor cleaner, I did the whole house! We had someone coming over last night and the floors were pitiful. I just had to clean them. It took me 2 hours just to find the cleaning solution to put in the danm thing!:rolleyes::eek: I hobble around like a wino already so I'm pretty sure it was really funny for my KIDS to sit there and watch me do this. It took me from 9 am til 4 pm to accomplish this. Now I'm gonna watch movies all day and make my kids clean toilets!!!!!!!!LOL:D:D |
DizySara- Welcome to the board! Glad you found us... I too have terrible insomnia...I take Ambien CR for it but even that doesn't help at times. UGH!
Moose-Metallica always works for me! Just think of those adorable boys of yours! Kayo-I swear I'm coming as soon as I can swing it! Vonn-will do with the roses! YALL are so NOT gonna believe this! :holysheep: :holysheep: Hubby woke up this morning...whole jaw swollen the size of a baseball...took him to the urgent care clinic on base who in turn called in public health......they think he has the mumps!!! |
OMG Renee, remember when I told you Jim looked like Popeye one morning? It was cellulitis. I hope he doesn't have the mumps or that! What are they going to do? Is it contagious to you guys even though you had shots? That is freaky.
|
It is highly contagious...most peoples immunizations are enough to protect them however they say 2-3% of people get them anyway. We have to see public health Monday and go from there I guess. Sheesh next it's going to be Rhodesian Rump Rot or something!

and he DID get his MMR shot as a child, right? oddly enough, I came down with MEASLES, as an adult! and yeah, I'd had ALL my vaccinations as a child... the doc said that happens rarely, he called it "vaccine failure" keep us posted, okay? Iowa Mumps Outbreak Linked to Primary Vaccine Failure By Peggy Peck, Senior Editor, MedPage Today - April 04, 2006 Harris said published data suggest that the vaccine failure rate for mumps is about 5%. "So by my estimate there are about 200,000 people in Iowa who have received the recommended vaccinations but who have no immunity to mumps." http://www.medpagetoday.com/Infectio...ccines/tb/2987 |

Gosh I sure hope it's not the mumps. Can't imagine getting that as an adult.
Super bowl party at my house tomorrow. GO GIANTS! Not my idea, but in a house with almost all men, well you get the picture. But the Giant's have been my team since I was a kid and all so yeah I'll be rooting for them and hollaring away. I know what the premature labors like, 3 of my 4 were all premies. have a good evening all. Sara |

Well the neighbors (the ones with the new baby) called to invite us over for a superbowl party....after I informed her we were quarantined she politely took back that invite! Now hubby's other side is starting to swell, I feel so bad for him I know it must be horribly painful. I am demanding they send us to an infectious disease doctor on Monday!
|
ahhh Renee, tell hubby we are all thinking of him...that is tough....I would also request that for Monday...make sure they are positive on what is causing it...and what to do about it...hugssss,sarah

Wow Renee I'm sorry to hear about hubby. Mumps! Yuck! You all will be in my thoughts and prayers for a fast recovery.

Hey all, I am not staying on too long. Just wanted to update how my day went. Chris wrecked his car. He's fine but the bumper and hood are smashed. He took a turn and slid out of control and smashed into a light pole. Ugh WINTER sucks! My poor mom said not to worry about her bills and to get Chris's car fixed. I told her no, he's 21 and will help pay for the damages. He only has liability. I felt so bad for him since the place he turned into was the Medicine Shoppe to pick up Jim's pills. :-(
The good thing is he is fine and not harmed. It could have been far worse. Renee, I hope your hubby feels better soon. Watch his airways if he's swelling so much. You probably know that already though. :-) Here are the pics: Attachment 2281 Attachment 2282 |
Awwww man Sandy that sucks! When it rains it pours I tell ya!
Watching hubby's airway, I have threatened him within an inch if he starts having breathing trouble and doesn't tell me! Today both sides are all swollen and he looks like a chipmunk poor thing :( Good news my disability hearing has been assigned to the judge and he sent a letter to my attorney telling him to get my medical stuff together and write him a letter about why I should be on disability and he would consider making a fully favorable decision without going to hearing! |
oh, San!
my son did a similar thing to his Taurus... argh, winter driving! glad to hear your son's OKAY, that's the MOST important thing. |
Renee, Sorry to hear about your hubby maybe having the mumps. ugh.
Sandy, Glad Chris is ok. Kay, Yet another reason for me to want to visit you down there, LOL. I'm a history buff, so ancient mayan ruins would facinate me. DizySara, Welcome. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ If I forgot anyone, sorry. Still a little cog-froggy. :( Yesterday was spent between puttering around the house, taking my antibiotics, and sleeping. The meds are working because everything's loosening up. :) Hubby got us a new faucet because he was sick of the cheap one the general building contractors put in. He also updated the plumbing since they used the cheapest connectors they could fine. (the joy of building developments) It looks great, and the water pressure is better! :) |

can't wait to hear more from you... welcome. |
Good morning everyone!
Renee - Hope dh gets better soon and the rest of you don't get it. Seriously, true story. I had my MMR when going to kindergarten. Then some time in the 70's they found that people born between certain years needed to get the MMR again because the shots weren't effective. So in Jr. High I got it again. Then since my immunization records were lost, when I was teaching preschool while in nursing school I had to get it again. When I went to work at the hospital I had to show proof. The State lost the records from when I had the shot in the early '80's. So, I had to get it again! I've had the dang shot 4 times. I'll be dam*ed if I get the mumps, measles, or rubella. I kept a record of when they gave it to me when I started working at the hospital. Sara - Welcome. I don't have insomnia but DBF gets it and I can totally understand the frustration you go through. Sandy - Glad DS is OK. When do you leave to go be with your Mom? Fin - Glad the antibiotics are starting to work. That "melting" feeling never felt so good huh? I know I have forgotten some of your posts. Heck, with my limited memory (LOL) and 3 pages to read through I just can't remember all the posts. My update - Laundry. What else is new for my weekends. LOL. No work on the rental this weekend. We are taking a weekend off. I did wash A window yesterday. LOL. Hopefully I will get inspired and get busy on my painting this weekend. DBF wants to hang a few in the house to add splashes of color and make it seem more inviting when he goes to show it to prospective renters. Hope everyone has a wonderful and peaceful Sunday! |
Thanks everyone for your thoughts on Chris. I bet he'll take turns much slower from now on! The main thing is he is OK. He'll take the car in on Monday to get an estimate. He has to get the hood to unlock at least.
Today we are going to do some packing. We leave next Sunday. We'll travel in the day due to the weather. I really like driving at night but with this crazy snow I don't want to be in a ditch at night all alone. LOL |
two award-winning LOLs... duly noted and much-appreciated:
"Rhodesian Rump Rot" and "Spit, not Swallow" on the Tekillya! I soooo love my giggle-buddies here... :grouphug: |
gosh - darn - willi-kers ...
(all in fun - but I liked the soapbox, not the red dude! LOL) :Soapbox: I can't leave yous guys alone for any length of time!! you're like little 'playing mice' when the cat is away ... what's this: measles? mumps? quarantine? car wrecks? med mishaps?:yikes: :holysheep:you all should be whipped with a wet noodle!!! oh, ME??? mah-wah??? LOL .. still no water .. suppose to get to 44 degrees today ... that's uh, over 70 degrees in change since wednesday! we got over 2 inches of snow yesterday (uh, duh! - the weather forecast was ONLY for a dusting!) ... but, I ventured down to Green Bay ... and made over $500 ... got paid BEFORE even doing the returns!! but, it's all going toward the quilt corporation - so I can get that rolling by spring! QUESTION: I want to get a new trailer (with wider doorways, better insulation, central Air - because of my sx!, walk-in shower) ... how do I ask for help ... do I ask from the trailer-dealership?? I want to get my ducks in a row here .. and do this massive upgrade April/May .. when they (the concrete boys) can come in and put in a slab for a new trailer! :Thank you: |
