tkrik 07-30-2008 03:03 PM

Got it Frank! Thanks.

Sorry about the UTI. YUCK!!! I hope you feel better soon.

FinLady 07-30-2008 03:40 PM

Tried to take a nap, but couldn't fall asleep. Ugh! anyone else have this problem? Oy Vay!

Plus side - got more done today than I have all week. Yipee!!

~~~~~
Frank, :hug: Sorry to hear about the UTI
Barb, Glad you finished up the last syllabus.
TK, cool beans on the OHG donation. That is pretty cool :)
Kitty 07-30-2008 03:41 PM
OK - I've read six pages and I'm still as confused as ever!!! :D So, Joelle, don't even try it! Just jump right in 'cause I'm going to have to, too!!
I have been sleeping 5-6 hours a day for some reason. I've never napped this much in my life! Fin, I can relate to your fatigue. I did some laundry and straightened up a little and I was completely exhausted. And I can still go to bed between 9-10 PM! Craziest thing I've ever experienced. I hope it ends soon 'cause I don't like sleeping my days away.
I just learned that my neighbor (he is in his mid 40's) has ALS. I was talking with his wife out in the yard the other evening and she said he's not taking it very well. I gave her this website address and told her that when he feels up to it to have a look. I saw him out in the yard cutting grass and it was taking him a very long time - I know he just wants to do what he can while he can. They have gone to FL this week to stay at the beach. So sad. :(
I'm excited this week - I got my LTD and SSDI all straightened out so I can begin putting my budget together. Won't take long to figure out how I can manage to make 1/3 of what I was used to making cover all the bills!! :p It can't!! And I'm not gonna worry about it! :D
Vonn, I am so glad you're settled in your new place. We're still waiting for pics! :rolleyes:
Tricia, I think it's great what you're doing for OHG. I remember receiving things from them and it was SO special to get those anonymous envelopes in the mail. Just brightened up my day.
I know I've forgotten someone here....I'm still half asleep and fighting the urge to crawl back in bed. Although both cats are sprawled out on it.....they have no need to get up! :p I keep telling myself to post to this thread but seem to get sidetracked reading all the new posts and then I forget. Story of my life.....:rolleyes:
sabimax 07-30-2008 03:56 PM
hey all
Frank, sorry about the UTI...hugssss and when you tell me to take it easy...I dont take it as nagging..I take it as good advice from someone who knows...
everyone happy afternoon
SandyC 07-30-2008 05:06 PM
Hey all, just popping in to say we are home. The new urologist seemed OK, not really concerned about Jim's condition saying the same ol' same ol. He didn't even take a specimen since he said Jim's urine looked good. He did offer a med called methenamine which supposedly helps to prevent Uti's but wouldn't you know the manufacturer's quit making it? UGH He also suggested flushing with saline but adding a small amount of betadine to the saline. OK, before you guys freak out...lol I called Jim's regular doc and he told me not to do that just yet. He is going to talk to urology and see if that is indeed a good idea or not. I am thinking this young urologist is an old school kind of doc. I hope he didn't just give Jim an idea that could have hurt him. Maybe urology at Hines will say it's OK or offer a different antiseptic solution?
You just never know these days. I'll hear from Jim's reg doc tomorrow after he talks to urology. So, basically, nothing changes, same old problem. This is the third doc to confirm that this is something Jim will have to live with. I think it may be time to accept huh?
Frank, sorry about your UTI. :hug:
Gotta go put Jim in bed. I need to do some cleaning anyway.
NaeNae 07-30-2008 05:47 PM
Sandy all I can say is good Lord!
Am I invisible? Can anyone see me posting? Sorry I have not addressed everyone individually, trying to minimize time online during the day as we have dial up and I am waiting for job related phone calls.
Talked to ex this evening, he acts like everything is fine, I told him I was seriously concerned for his mental health that he was either bipolar or multiple personality something, he did agree that he thinks he needs to talk to a shrink about it...we'll see...I told him I was moving onwards because I was no longer subjecting myself and the kids to whatever his problem is.
Glad yall are able to work on your artwork...grrrr my stuff is all in storage! I found a daycare for Olivia should I get a job that won't send me to the poor house LOL. And worked out a semi budget...ex hubby offered to help with that as it is his forte, I told him I was good thanks.
SandyC 07-30-2008 05:57 PM
Good for you Renee standing up to hubby. It's time he got what goes around comes around.
BTW, I see you! lol
NaeNae 07-30-2008 06:03 PM
GRRRR applied for 4 jobs....know I did NOT get two of them...this area is having a serious lack of opportunity right now, pray I get one of the other two! I will know for sure by Friday about one of them.
DM 07-30-2008 06:33 PM
Hello again everyone! Don't worry Joelle and Kelly; I pop in and read several pages at a time to catch up on board buds. I can't keep up w/this gang either, but they do amuse me at times. :D
Carry on everyone and even tho I don't comment, I'm reading! :grouphug:
Kitty 07-30-2008 06:33 PM
Good luck with your job hunting, Renee. I know now is not the best time for searching but the right one will come along.
Good for you for standing up to the EX. He needs to see that you're okay and intend to remain okay without him. He does seem to have some problems and I hope he can get some help.
Life can throw us some curve balls no doubt. Hang in there and at some point down the road you can look back and realize how far you've come and how much you've overcome. I know I did. It's amazing how at the time we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel but looking back on it all we can see it clearly. That didn't make much sense but I think you know what I mean!! :o
Vonn07 07-30-2008 06:47 PM
Hi Kelly & DM ... thanks for checking up on us and that we 'amuse' you!! good one!! ;)
Renee ... will getting a job goof up your SSDI?? that's one of the reasons I haven't been applying ...
ended up taking a power nap this afternoon ... the heat got to me! LOL
congrats, Kelly on getting the LTD and SSDI rolling along .... so you can give us pointers in the debt diet!! I don't know what to say on there - with no income to utilize ...
guess I may have to call SS to see 'waz-up'???
That is exactly the reason why I wanted to donate to them. They do things that makes others feel good and ask for absolutely nothing in return. I am glad to hear how much that brightened up your day!:hug:
Thanks for popping in and saying Hi.
Renee - Saying prayers that one of the 2 jobs works out for you. Sorry about the emotional ups and downs ex is causing you.:hug: I see your posts. I am sorry if I didn't respond to one of them.
Sandy - How frustrating for you both. I am so sorry. I wish I had some magical answer, cure, or even advise for you.:(
Sarah - Hope you are having fun golfing tonight with DH. Maybe with the Neurontin you can beat him. lol:D
DM - Hi! Glad to know that we can be so amusing at times. lol
Vonn - You can work and receive SSDI. Your income cannot exceed $700??? However, I don't know how it would work if you were working and applying at the same time. They may see it as you can work and therefore, you won't qualify. I am not sure though.
Just making a quick check in before bedtime. LOL, hubby's already napping. Anyone have a crane? Getting him off the couch is gonna be a nightmare. :D
Vonn - you can apply for work and be employed. When it comes time for your SSI hearing, you would then ask for a closed period of disability benefits (of one year or more). That would pay you for the time that you weren't employed, if they found you disabled during that time.
Apply away!
Hey Vonn......I was completely shocked when I got my approval letter in the mail. I was anticipating having to appeal and get an attorney and deal with the back pay issues. Looks like I won't have to. I have no idea what I did "right"....I think my doctors just submitted my medical records to the SSDI office and they must have been proof enough. I never thought I'd wish to be shown "disabled enough" to qualify for benefits! :(
I hope they get yours straightened out soon. I can imagine how frustrating it is to wait with no updates from them.
As for the debt diet......well, I guess it's going to be a toss up each month as to who doesn't get their money!! You can only make a little bit go so far.......;)
Kitty 07-31-2008 06:32 AM
Well, today is my youngest son's birthday.....he's 21. :eek: Where did the time go??? How come I don't feel old enough to have a child this old? I should, my other son is 25!! Good grief!!
Anyway, I'm going to make homemade lasagna tonight. I have to get going so I can get to the store before it becomes too hot outside.
My menu will be lasagna, garlic bread, chopped salad and fruit sorbet. I'm going to make the lasagna from scratch so I have to get some good Italian Sausage and ground round. I haven't made tomato sauce in so long....I have my Mom's old recipe so it should be good.
I'm excited! Gotta go take a shower so I can get to the store and back before the heat gets to me. I feel like a vampire - only going out before the sun comes up or after it sets!! :p
soxmom 07-31-2008 06:54 AM
Hey Kelly........Im making homemade lasagna for dinner tonight also.:)
My dh and youngest to are going to the lake for the weekend to see
my mil and my two oldest are going camping with their uncle. So Im
sending them off with a "moms homecooked meal", so they dont
forget me.:D So this means this mom is ALONE for the weekend.
Sandy.....I am so mad for Jim:mad::(
Renee....YOu are stronger than I.....:hug::hug:
and a good morning to everyone else.:hug:
JustWeave 07-31-2008 07:21 AM
Mornin' all. I think I am really up and that this isn't my ghost typing away here. :eek: I am attempting to get an earlier start on some things even if that is just a to do list. Need to make a list so I stay more focused.
Things continue to go "well" with DD's missions trip. That was the only bit of news DH could get at church last night. She arrives home tomorrow night and I can hardly wait.
Nice to see some new faces around this thread. Welcome, welcome. Don't attempt to get caught up just jump right in.
Well I'm off to make a list and decide what is on today's agenda. Hugs all around and stay cool.
FinLady 07-31-2008 07:36 AM
Howdy Hi and Good Morning! Not tired today, but oh so sore! Woke up somewhere around 2:30am due to spasms and the hug. Took some meds and went back to bed. Slept until 7:30, when once again - My back woke me up. Surprisingly, I'm wide awake right now. Coffee did it's job today. :D
Checked our weather station here both times. Humidity is at 80%!!! :eek: It's a "maybe" rain today. I'm hoping so, we need this humidity to drop. Ok, I need this humidity to drop, LOL.:rolleyes:
Waiting to see how I feel in a little while to see what I do today. Hope everyone has a good one. :grouphug:
~~~~~~~~

Weave, I can believe how excited you must be for DD to come home. I bet she'll have a lot of great stories for you about her visit.

Kitty, mmm. Homemade lasgnana. Now that's something I haven't made in awhile. I bet your son will love it. Hope he has a very nice b-day.

soxmom, fire up the chick flicks and the fuzzy bunny slippers. Sometimes it's not fun to be alone, but sometimes it's nice to get a chance to relax. :hug:

Vonn07 07-31-2008 07:42 AM

mornin' everyone ... can't believe how early I wake up ... 6AM ... and it's not even on purpose!! LOL

have to work on my 'list' too, Weave ... to stay focused and get the 'accomplished' feeling ... otherwise, I don't feel I've done anything!!! :Doh:

into the 80s here and HIGH humidity ... so, going to make it a simple list ...

will post more later ..

thanks, Kelly about the info ... Weave, I've been applying ... each day is different .. there are days I feel super-duper ... but, there are more ucky days than good days ... not that they are bad, just okay without stress . ... does that make sense??

SandyC 07-31-2008 09:51 AM

Hey all! Nothing much going on today except waiting for our friend to come by to fix the bed. Other than that, nada. Oh wait, we're also waiting for the doctor to call back with ideas.

I have to explain a little more on the doc we saw yesterday. I was tired when I wrote that and need to further explain. He was a very nice and professional doctor. Jim's condition cannot be cured, it is what it is. Our reason for going was to see the reason behind the UTI's and find an answer to how to prevent them from coming every month.

This doctor explained more than any other doctor that it is the ileum that is causing the bacteria, it always will. He said that just because it causes bacteria doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Some bacteria lives normally in our bodies and they would expect to see bacteria in Jim's urine to be colonized. The problem lies in the bottom of the bladder. The sediment tends to lay down there and this is what can cause the problems.

We are currently flushing Jim's bladder with saline every other day to get it out. But, some still remains. The idea of using betadine seems logical since it would not sit in the bladder for long and it is an antibacterial substance. It would be diluted with the saline. Jim's spinal cord doctor never heard of this and is looking into if it's ok and to see if there is something else to try. The medicine that is discontinued is also an antibacterial but no longer available. So, Dr Babu is looking into another possible pill. These pills are not antibiotics and will not cause resistance so that is attractive to us for sure.

So, we are waiting to hear from Dr Babu, the spinal cord doctor to see if this doctor yesterday wasn't off his rocker. To Jim and I he seemed intelligent but you never know. lol Personalities aside, it is frustrating, but at some point Jim and I have to accept that this is our 3-4th opinion and so far everyone has said the same thing. All we can do now is look at alternative medicine and basic therapies to see if that helps.

Hope that makes sense. We are NOT giving up, we're just shifting our thinking and expectations.

tkrik 07-31-2008 09:55 AM

Happy Birthday Sarah!!! Hope you have a wonderful day today.

Kelly - That sounds yummy! What time is dinner? Just give me about 6 hours to fly out there. LOL I hope your baby has a wonderful birthday today. Is lasagna his favorite? When we were little and even now for those of us that live close to my parents, my Mom would always make our favorite meal for dinner as well as our favorite desert. One of my brothers always picked hot dogs. lol Mine was actually lasagna or manicotti (sp??). Anyhow, hope he enjoys his birthday.

Vonn & Renee - I hear your dilemma. It's a catch-22 and a difficult decision to make. In my own case, it was easier as I wasn't really walking, etc., etc. and the serial flares kept coming. I will keep both of you in my prayers during this trying time.:hug:

Sox - Enjoy your alone time. I agree with Fin - get the chick flicks lined up, comfy clothes on, and plop on the couch for uninterrupted movie/me time.:p

Weave - Yahoooo!!!! You must be so excited to have DD come home tomorrow. I am sure she will have lots of wonderful stories to share with you once she gets some rest. Saying prayers that she has a safe trip home.:hug:

Kay & Kelly - I don't feel old enough to have an 18-year old starting college in a few weeks. Sometimes, I think DD16 is more grown up than I am. lol j/k She is very mature and wise young lady. Amazes me.

Hi Everyone else. Hope your doing well this morning and that everyone has a great day!

Jodylee 07-31-2008 10:05 AM

Good morning all! You guys are soooo fast :p:)! I already can't keep up! I made something for a board buddy with my glue gun ;). Not gonna say what coz that would ruin it :D.

I'm gonna go back and try to read everyone's posts from yesterday and catch up. I don't think I'll EVER keep up LOL!

Hope everyone's doing well :hug:.

The darn roof repair guys were here three times this morning trying to collect payment from my LANDLORD! I told them to call her because she doesn't LIVE here. Somewhat of a language barrier involved, but they finally got the message. I even called my landlord and got her voicemail. She hasn't called back....hmmm, very interesting. I hope she isn't going broke :eek:!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH :hug: 's

NaeNae 07-31-2008 10:06 AM

Tricia- I wasn't walking ...much...used the scooter.....had tons of support from my docs etc and have still been denied repeatedly been going on 3 years now....the ALJ judges decision is now under appeal but my working will eff that all up, but what can I do? They said it could take up to another 3 years!

Sandy- u explained it perfectly, the betadine thing seems sensible to me.

I have a job interview at a local mental health clinic tomorrow wish me luck!

JustWeave 07-31-2008 10:19 AM

Went for a walk then made my to do list. The list doesn't look too bad but it will keep me moving. :rolleyes: How much progress I make and energy I have left will help determine if I go to a lecture tonight.

Off to ask a bunch of gardening questions on that thread.

Oh yes. Prayers for DD's safe return from her trip are greatly appreciated. I'm only a tiny bit :Excited: excited about her return. :Excited: Is it Friday night yet? :Excited: :D

Kitty 07-31-2008 10:22 AM

Happy Birthday, Sarah!! (I started a thread at The Stumble Inn, too! :D)

FinLady 07-31-2008 10:22 AM

Renee, Wishing ya luck at the interview!

Sandy, Thanks for explaining a little more. Hope this new approach really helps Jim out.

~~~~~~
I did forget to give you guys some good news, LOL! I was posting on a thread I started and realized I didn't tell you my d'oh! :Doh: moment.
I've limited my coffee intake to only two cups in the morning. My fatigue has been manageable the past couple of days. :yahoo:
You'd think I would've had enough common sense to realize having too much of a hot breverage would not help with the overheating. :rolleyes:
barb02 07-31-2008 10:36 AM
Wow, you all have been busy this morning!
Sarah -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!:partytime2::Dancing-Chilli:
Renee -- Good luck with the interview! Do you think you might have a more cooperative judge in the circuit you are in now instead of South Carolina?
Jenn -- I am glad to hear that you are geting a handle on your fatigue. I rarely drink hot beverages.
Sox -- Have fun this weekend. Alone time can be terrific. You can sleep as much as you want, eat when you feel like it, and have complete control over your remote.
I went to WW this morning and only lost .6 pounds. So my total for the 6 weeks is 7.2. It is hard to stay commited to this with such a slow weight loss. I thought I had gained weight so I did not make the best choices yesterday. I had 2 slices of pizza for lunch and pad thai and crab ragoon for dinner.:o
It looks like the next several days are going to be really miserable (weather).
Kelly -- What time is dinner? I think you better make an extra pan of lasagna.
