Howdy all! Busy, busy. Hot and humid today so I walk out the door and just wilt. :rolleyes: Took the kids into the city today. Met DH, took care of some business, then had lunch at the farmer's market before he went back to work and we oozed on home. Just finished eating lunch, one quart of gluten free crisp vegetable chips. Oink? :eek: Yup, but they are sooo good. :D Sadly this market isn't gluten free friendly.

Well I better get back to work. DH asked if I wanted to go to another farmer's market tonight and I said maybe if things cool off some. This heat is really whipping my hind quarters. :o

:grouphug: to all. Stay cool. :cool:

Woohoo!!! Just noticed I went from "junior member" to "member" status. Ahh. It's nice to be a full fledged member. So where is my logoed shirt, hat, pen, and new membership card? :D

barb02 07-18-2008 03:08 PM

Sandy, Sorry to hear about your mom and also that you cannot make it tonight. I have only been to the United Center once, but you are right. the areas is not too great. Getting a taxi there was lots of fun.

Kelly, I am on neurontin and a low dose of baclofen also. I have gained quite a bit of weight since starting neurontin last year, but it does work for me. I definitley get the munchies sometimes (honestly most of the time). I am trying to munch on veg's and fruit instead of chips, cheese, and chocolates
(my three big weaknesses). I actually lost 10 pounds in the one week when I was on steriods -- just felt terrible. Maybe I should try them again.:rolleyes:

Getting ready to go see Mama Mia. I will give you all a review tomorrow.

NaeNae 07-18-2008 03:17 PM

Neurontin makes me ravenous, I can't get enough to eat, so I try to be conscious of that. Did some more work on my chest of drawers not as far along as I had hoped to be but the people who had it never refinished it properly just kept slapping on coats of paint...grrrrr. Today is my 4 year wedding anniversary, although we have been together for 7. Tomorrow is my aunt and mom's birthdays so we are celebrating tonight with Chinese and cake!

tkrik 07-18-2008 03:44 PM

I hope you all are having a good day and have a good weekend. (Going to DBF's to work on the kitchen cabinets over the weekend so I won't be on much this weekend).

I have a clean kitchen! And a couple of kitties sniffing the floor trying to figure out the scent of the cleaner - LOL. Took all afternoon, but it's done. :)

Next step, the living room. Never thought it would take so much time and energy to do this stuff, but at least I'm doing it :) Always a plus.

~~~~~
Sarah, your hubby is a sweetie for looking at that stuff for ya.
Vonn, hope the move in and unpacking is still going well.
Everyone, Big 'ol hugs :grouphug::grouphug:
CayoKay 07-18-2008 05:53 PM
afternoon, all !!
rainy, rainy, rainy here.
well, duh, this IS the rainforest after all... :D
rescued two mama ducks whose pond-side nests were about to be submerged... and hatched 44 ducklings so far... how exciting !!
was going to go back to the capitol, but the weather is so bad, we didn't want to do the drive... the roads here are carp enough in *good* weather, let alone when torrential downpours are going on.
so, just a quickie trip over the hand-cranked ferry to the Mennonite enclave for bales of hay and tarps, then to the veggie market for "basura" (garbage to them is gourmet food por mi animales, lol)
back on the home-front, Amelio got the beams poured for the little emergency animal hurricane shelter, and the walls are all built, so, the concrete slab roof is next week, and we'll be done, except for the storm door, and screening for the air vents.
since we're officially "residents" now, we can legally sell stuff, and today was busy, busy, busy, people in and out all day, buying ducks, guinea pigs, chickens, and eggs.
sold enough to pay for our entire feed-mill run next month, which is great !!
and the bulletin board by the front door has a WAITING list for flats of organic free-range eggs.
we were so busy I never even got a nap today... but I'm happy anyway.
I'm borrowing hubby's computer while he does his chores, and I get to use the umbrella next, pull on my high boots, slog around in the rain, and dole out munchies.
:grouphug::hug::grouphug:
tkrik 07-18-2008 06:43 PM
Kay - That is awesome!!! It makes all those drives and everything else worth it. It sounds as though you have had a very successful day and deserve the relaxation.
CayoKay 07-18-2008 07:31 PM
and Trish, I've had no leg cramps, or toes standing oddly at attention, lol !!
:hug:
that's worth celebrating !!
to all great BIG HUGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, Sarah
barb02 07-18-2008 08:02 PM
I loved Mama Mia! Go see it. It was so much fun. Meryl Streep has a great voice. Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth were really funny. It is the kind of movie that just makes you smile and laugh. I may go see it again. Of course, it you hate Abba you may want to give it a pass.
FinLady 07-18-2008 08:25 PM
FinLady 07-19-2008 11:38 AM
:grouphug: Thanks everyone for their well wishes.
My first year anniversary of this stuff is coming up. The day my dx code on the neuro forms changed, LOL. Was CIS to MS in one fell swoop. :hit-safe:
Then having to quit work due to fatigue issues, finally have accepted that. Didn't realize it was gonna hit me as hard as it did, but attitude is a changing - which is always a good thing. :) LOL, I was never one to sit around and feel sorry for myself long. Thank goodness.
But emotions have been running high in me these days, and I thank you all for giving me the uplift I need. You guys are great!!!!!!!!!!!!:Bow:
well, that's one I'll be skipping wishing ya a "happy anniversary" for, okay, honey ?
:D:eek::D
attitude is everything.... amazing how much we can handle when there's understanding friends to turn to when the burden gets heavy.
Finny-baybee, I passed the 20 year mark back in February...
some parts have been very rough (especially 1988, 1998, and 2003), but as you can see, despite a lot of crud along the way, I'm still pluggin' along, keeping my mind active, my attitude "adjusted" and my heart clear of resentments and pain (well, mostly, lol...)
AND, one of the greatest gifts you all have given ME is a chance to prove that MS needn't be some sort of "life sentence" that dooms one to hermit-hood and misery...
so, from the perspective of being so far along the 'MS Road' I can say that YOU can DO it, with grace, laughter, and good communication with those around you...
Finny, you'll do just fine, if you keep your self as strong and level-headed as I've seen you.
:hug::grouphug::hug::grouphug::hug:
SandyC 07-19-2008 01:12 PM
I am happy to see all of you still having fun with my Wii Wii. :p
Today I still need to clean my bedroom and bathroom. Yep, never touched it yesterday! hahaha Jim and I slept until 10:30am :yikes: What's up with that?
Everyone have a good day today. We get to meet Nik's gf today. I tell you, I love having the boys home, they help so much. But I will also be glad when school starts back so I can have my house back. lol
hah !!
many days I can barely wipe my own behind, Sir Frank !!
really, I do my morning animal-feeding chores, and read and nap the rest of the day, until evening feeding.
on a GOOD day, I get a bit of cleaning done, but right now my house is a flaming disaster.
truth be told, I STILL haven't finished moving over from the other house, only half my books and clothes are brought over.
so, writing a book is off the menu, dear heart... but thanks for the kind words, encouragement and support.
:p;):p
Well thought I would pop in here and say hello. Watching the next storm coming your way Cayo, hope you stay dry. We had nearly 10 inches of rain here over the last couple of weeks. Its not like the mid west though, ours gets to drain off into sand. So we really dont flood too bad.
Everything else is just fine here, except problems with my mom who had a stroke baCK in Jan. I have to post a long rant on a another thread, maybe you can give some input into that Sandy, or anyone else that may help.
Anyways I do see things are all quiet on the porch, you ladies been hiding out somewhere.
NaeNae 07-20-2008 08:32 AM
Not sure what I am doing today probly nuthin LOL
CayoKay 07-20-2008 09:11 AM
well, I know what *I'm* doing today, lol !!
putting away shovels, rakes, hoses, tubs, and all sorts of stuff laying around outside, before the storm gets here.
but first, a big ol' plate of scrambled eggies with callalou (a local plant, kinda like spinach, very yummy)
and some crusty fresh-baked peasant bread which mi husband made yesterday, oh yeah !!
:hug:
SandyC 07-20-2008 10:17 AM
Kay you stay safe girl! Never a dull moment in your neck of the woods eh?
I am not doing much today either. I need to call my Renee today and get that inside scoop! lol I also need to call Becky to see how she's doing. I swear I am the worst about calling people these days! I think it's because the boys are home and keeping my brain jumbled. haha! Momma called me the other day and we talked for a long time. I need to call her too. Man, I bet my ears are going to be burning.
Jim was having bad spasms last night. We are weaning off the gabapentin but that has nothing to do with the spasms. I wonder if his baclofen needs to be tweaked? We put him back on the tizantidine and its helping. How much baclofen do you guys take? Jim takes 30mgs, 3x a day for a total of 90mgs a day.
We had some storms come in last night. The sky was lit up like fireworks. Our power went out twice but came back on right away. Frank, Barb, Wiz and anyone else in our area...how was it by you?
