Well 25th wed anniversary this week and what do we get as a gift, Hurricane Fay. Not yet a hurricane, but soon to be. Were leaving Wednesday to head back home to Florida. I will be watching all weather reports before we do travel.

Were smack in the middle of the projected path, so if we get a direct hit I guess we will have an extended vacation. The house were in right now would not survive even a cat 2 hurricane. Glad our insurANce is up to date.

weegot5kiz 08-17-2008 08:42 PM

good to hear you are safe good luck hopefully dare i say it the weather men are wrong:yikes: be nice if it breaks up more over cuba

Vonn07 08-17-2008 10:39 PM

FinLady 08-17-2008 11:27 PM

Jmiller, stay safe and happy anniversary

Vonn, hope you catch those much deserved z's

And I, LOL, I am having trouble getting to sleep. The downside of hubby leaving on a business trip. Don't like sleeping. But think I'm finally getting tired enough to try to catch some z's myself.

Hope everyone has a good night. :grouphug:

tkrik 08-18-2008 12:09 AM

Jmiller - Happy anniversary! I do hope you have a safe trip home and that all is well when you get there.:hug:

Dang Fin!!! You are up late. I hope you get some zzzzz's soon.

I'm heading off to bed soon too. It's a little after 10 and past my bed time. lol. Meeting with Aarcyn tomorrow for lunch and need my "beauty" sleep. lol I am excited to meet up with her again.

CayoKay 08-18-2008 07:08 AM

oh, I'm so jealous, Trish!

that sounds like fun, wish I could join you two for lunch!

jmiller, happy anniversary, dude! what's the secret to staying married so long?

mornin' Vonn, hope you slept well...

San, that's gnarly... when I was little, we believed (due to their name) that earwigs would crawl in our ears, and eat our brains.

:eek:

I was lucky enough to live on a road lined with lilacs, dozens and dozens of them... and when they bloomed, the smell was LOVELY... and the petals, oh, I could dance under them as they fluttered gracefully to the ground.

so, can you come and prune my orange trees next? they need it desperately!

Finny, I'm glad we're retired, because I'd sleep badly if mi esposo was away...

and NaeNae? tell Olivia I said:

Happy Birthday!

Vonn07 08-18-2008 08:18 AM

Happy Birthday Olivia!!!!

I hope your day is filled with wonderful surprises.

Good Morning everyone! I hope you all have a great day!

FinLady 08-18-2008 09:54 AM

Renee, Wish Olivia a happy B-day for me. :Birthday:

~~~~
Got the assistant I like on the phone at the neuro's. LOL, she doesn't always answer 'cuz she's the one running the show in the background. The whole make appointments for patients and be the sounding board for the neuro. :)
Anyhoo, this was a case of the neuro disagreeing with radiologist. LOL, they did warn me that this happens sometimes.
So that's done. Now to check off some other things from my list. There is one chore that I don't want to do, but needs done later - otherwise kitties will mutiny. :D
Right now, I'm just hunting for my usual morning cup of coffee. LOL, for some reason I'm really tired. :D
Have a good day all. :grouphug:
JustWeave 08-18-2008 10:10 AM
Breezing in long enough to say I am still here. Things to do, places to go, dog houses to work my way out of.
SandyC 08-18-2008 10:20 AM
Hey all! Not doing much today except laundry and maybe pulling the lilac out with my contractors van if he gets some time. I think I am going to leave the hole and not plant grass just yet. It looks so bare and I am exposed to the world now. hahaha Losing the evergreen was bad enough and now my pretty lilac. We'll go buy a bush and plant it.
Does anyone know if now is a good time to plant or should we wait for spring?
Have fun today everyone and stay cool. Trish, tell Aracyn we said hello! Jmiller, please be careful because everything points to this storm hitting Florida. Joelle and anyone else in it's path please be careful and safe. :grouphug:
jmiller 08-18-2008 10:42 AM
Still in Long Island watching and waiting. Reading all the comments on our local news, just can not believe all the idiots. Hate to see it but just maybe someday a major hurricane will hit the Tampabay area and then they will not be so stupid. Probably the same people who hide under trees when lightning hits.
Anyhow, were still leaving for Florida on Wednesday, if the storm has moved on land and weakens. Rain and wind will still be a factor, so we will just take our time. Im sure there will be some type of clean up from rain, plus the lawn not being mowed in 3 weeks lol. So see you all later.
NaeNae 08-18-2008 10:48 AM
Thanks for all of Olivia's bd wishes!!!
Jmiller-Stay safe hope it just "breezes" thru!
Jenn- radiologists and neurologists very frequently have differing opinions, which is why the neuro always wants to see the MRI NOT the report!
My update- been up since 3 am I am wiped out...today was first day at new school for Dayton...most of you know he has a learning disability, so I was worried how it was going to work out...he wanted to ride the bus not be driven in by mom but I insisted on meeting him at school....soooo glad I did, they did not even have his schedule ready nor many other kids, we wandered around for an hour from place to place while they figured out who had his schedule...then got a broken locker..I pried it open with a screw driver and it was filled with chewed gum and had the f-word in it in every place...Dayton was disgusted and refused to put his stuff in it! His first period teacher who seems like a really sweet lady told him he could just leave his stuff in her room. This is a very small country school only 280 students but they all seemed to be helping each other out and very friendly. We missed all of first period and were late for second..the teacher was just coming to search for us! LOL Olivia was a different story, when her big brother got on the bus she cried and cried like I had sent him away forever and then again when we left him in his second class, she cried the whole way home and was shaking she was so upset of course then I am fighting back tears! Sigh, maybe day 2 will be better!
SandyC 08-18-2008 11:01 AM
Renee, hug and tell Olivia we said HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I remember when Chris went off to school. I was so worried I would cry but it was Nik who bawled like his big brother was never coming back! Too cute. I was so focused on Nik that I was able to keep it in check.
weegot5kiz 08-18-2008 11:49 AM
hello everyone hope your day is going well,
Olivia Happy Birthday
Kitty 08-18-2008 12:10 PM
Hi everyone! Well, I had a doctor's appointment this morning for my yearly checkup. It's been 2 years since I've been so I kinda had to keep the appointment!! :o Everything seemed fine except for my weight!!!!! :mad: Can you believe that I have gained 37 pounds in 2 years??!! :eek: WTH!!! I knew I had gained some but just not how much.
I gave my doctor a list of all medications I'm on and she said that it's the Gabapentin. She said it does this to some people (apparently I am one of the lucky ones...:rolleyes:). Plus, the fact that I'm not nearly as physically active as I once was adds to the problem.
I am totally exhausted so I'm going to go take a nap. Which will probably contribute to my weight gain total for this week...:rolleyes:
Is there any medication where the side effect is weight loss?? And if there is can I have some??
SandyC 08-18-2008 12:28 PM
Kitty, that happened to Jim with gabapentin. He has now stopped and lost 22lbs!! Can you believe that? Sheesh.
Kitty 08-18-2008 12:31 PM
I do believe I will be weaning myself off of the stuff. There's got to be something else that won't cause weight gain.
I was so upset I had to have a bowl of ice cream when I got home!! :D :p :rolleyes:
ROTF When Jim found out he lost 22 lbs we went out and celebrated with turtle yummers from the local ice cream shop! lol
If you wean off go slow, real slow because the side effects are seizures if you go too fast. Jim was taking 9 a day and it took us a month to completely wean. I may have been over protective but I saw him seize when a doctor forgot to put him back on the gaba one time. 30 seizures in 30 minutes, one grand mal, the rest tremor seizures.
Wow...that's scary. I don't think I've ever had a seizure. I sure don't want to have one while I'm home alone. I'll ask my Neuro what's a good plan for tapering down. I'll also ask if there is anything different to take that won't cause the weight gain.
SandyC 08-18-2008 12:43 PM
Since Jim was taking 3 pills 3x a day we started with 2 pills 3x a day, then 1 pill 3x a day, then 2 pills a day, then 1 pill a day. We did each for a week and was done in a month. The neuro approved of the weening process and Jim did well. He never had a seizure either so that was really scary!
barb02 08-18-2008 12:46 PM
Hey everyone! Just got back to Illinois (home) a little while ago and the first thing I did was turn on the computer. I have been computer free for 2 weeks while I was away. I purposely decided to stay off of it. Had a nice time visiting family in Ohio and Atlantic City was an interesting experience. Weather was great, lost too much money,(that darn Wheel of Fortune machine) and saw lots of "different" people. Will update more later after I have a chance to read more posts. Need to take a nap now. It is getting harder and harder to make that drive by myself to and back from Ohio.
Hope everyone is doing ok!!!
barb02 08-18-2008 12:49 PM
Kelly, I have gained 35 pounds since last June (2007) and being on neurontin (gabapentin). I take 600mg 3 times per day. I have managed to lose about 10 pounds this summer while being on Weight Watchers, but it has been tough. I am afraid to stop taking neurontin because it has helped me with that burning/tingling pain. I think that Lyrica has the same side effect.
NaeNae 08-18-2008 01:39 PM
See Kelly sandy told me this too...I never weaned off of my neurontin I just quit! No seizures thankfully! But I also didn't lose the weight I gained on it either :( Not to mention the extra 80 or so from 3 years of IV roids!
CayoKay 08-18-2008 02:01 PM
okay, I'm now scarred for LIFE here !!
my new turkey is so dense, he mated with one of my ROOSTERS, I swear !!
that's not something ya EVER wanna see, kiddies...
really!
it started out as a *fight*
Halloween (my orange and black rooster) was being his usual *cocky* self while I passed out the morning goodies by the barn.
then Bishop (my full-grown tom turkey) ambled over to partake of corn, in full-display mode.
Halloween refused to move out of the way for Bishop (you'd be surprised how bullying some of the birds are when food is laying around!)
so, Bishop POUNCED on Halloween, and the feathers were flying as the claws scratched.
Bishop ended up on top, and... sheesh.
like I said... scarred for LIFE...
I mean, seriously, first, they're different KINDS of birds, and second, they're both BOYS.
:eek::D:eek:
okay, I need a nap now.
:p
weegot5kiz 08-18-2008 02:20 PM
i know i was on three diff ones that seemed to add weight to me I too have lost since stopping those 3 meds, but i am still behaving on the cloesterol diet and all, let me tell you eating sucks with all these subsitute foods
butter half and half, milkshakes, cream did i mention butter i need it soooooo badly, I have no choice so I think that is kind of making a it a little easier,
so how is everyone
Fin i read your post on the neuro mix up the doc doesnt see this lesion but the tech did? fin put the disc in and open windows explorer on the disc there should be a set up file that should install the viewer that is loaded on the disc
FinLady 08-18-2008 02:31 PM
Frank, that's part and parcel of the problem I think. My hubby is the only one that even has anything windows based (for work), and it's vista. Everything else is apple (steve jobs has taken over our house :eek:, lol)
Kay, lol - what a little farm soap opera you've got going on there. :D
Kelly, I weaned off of gabapentin also. Mainly they wanted to see if one of my nerve pains was still constant. Thankfully, just a once in awhile thing now.
~~~~~

Did some running around, and now tired. but then again, I was up late last night - LOL. To be expected.

Debating whether or not to do some more stuff or just be a slug the rest of the day. :)

NaeNae 08-18-2008 03:02 PM

Does that mean we will be having Turoosters???? Wait how will the rooster lay the eggs? Will they adopt as so many gay families now do? Is it legal for them to wed in Belize??? LOL!!!!!!!

weegot5kiz 08-18-2008 03:08 PM

ok thats just wrong Kay lol

Fin it may also have a mac program installed wouldnt hurt to explore the disc you may find the set up for what ever system it is in, just a thought cause i know you wanted to view it

Welcome home Barb

tkrik 08-18-2008 05:48 PM

Welcome back Barb! We missed you.

Had lunch with Aarcyn and had a great time. Came home and crashed. lol I was tired. Just trying to wake up now.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

FinLady 08-18-2008 05:57 PM

Barb, glad you had a good time on your trip

~~~
Turned into a slug day today, LOL. Hopefully I'll get an early night's rest tonight. Ordering pizza since hubby's not here, and there will be enough left over for lunch tomorrow. :)
Highlight of my day was a quick, small power outage. Why oh Why does murphy's law seem to apply when hubby's out of town? It's not even storming. :D Most everything came back up, but still some stuff I need to check on.
Hoping everyone has a good evening. :grouphug:
:D
Bishop was actively pursuing Halloween all afternoon today...
:eek:
alas, gays have virtually zilch recognition in Belize, especially men...
homophobia is pretty rampant... but la lesbiennes seem to just be ignored, not so much an offense to the macho Hispanic culture I guess?
so, I won't be holding any gay interspecies life celebrations on my farm.
I'm still hoping Bishop falls in love with my new beautiful silvery-bluish turkey hen Hadassah... but I guess she's too young yet?
:D
weegot5kiz 08-18-2008 08:54 PM
Kay paint a mustache on Hadassah:rolleyes::eek::rolleyes:
Sandy did you get any info on when to plant, deb thought its spring but wasn't sure, my mom couldn't remember
Renee I hope Olivia's Bday was a good day for you and her
Everyone I hope you all have a great evening, kind of passed out mid day so am not sure what happened here
peace
I recently tapered down on Neurontin and my neuro and pain management doctor both approved of the following:
For four days take one-half of the amount of meds;
next four days, take one-half again and so on until done.
I was on 4500 mgs a day and it did not take long before I was off of it.
I went off of it to begin Lyrica. Big mistake. I was miserable. I not only had significant weight gain but I also had severe edema in my hands, feet and ankles.
My neuro said that my reaction to Lyrica was not uncommon and is one of the biggest complaints they have about the med. I was actually in more pain from the edema than I was from the nerve pain.
Let me know what you decide to take and if it works for you.
Good luck!
Oh - and I hate to admit this - but I've got you beat in the weight gain department. I have gained 70 pounds in the last year and 100 in the last two!
I am so digusted with myself that I don't know what to do. I have never felt so helpless in all my life. :(
The landscaper who did my house a few years ago said that late summer and early to mid-Fall are good times to plant because the ground is still warm and the plants have enough time to develop a good root system before winter sets in.
JustWeave 08-19-2008 07:28 AM
Morning' all. Wish I could say it was a good one but it just isn't. A bomb got dropped on me yesterday, and till everything is said and done I may not recognize my life six months from now. If you are of the praying kind, I really, really need a miracle. I'm probably going to stop posting on this thread but will read it when I have time. I'll lurk when I can. My heart is broken and I am just terrified.
Kitty 08-19-2008 07:37 AM
Oh, WeaveHerr, I'm so sorry. Whatever it is I hope that it's resolved and that you have some peace of mind about it. I understand the need to regroup....but you'll be missed and we'll be praying for you.
Kitty 08-19-2008 07:46 AM
Mornin', mornin' everyone. Just trying to get my tail moving this morning. Can't seem to wake up.
I don't have much going on today. I've got to get a few prescriptions filled. I get so irritated at my pharmacy because unless I tell them each and every time that a prescription is one of the $4 ones they go ahead and charge me my insurance copay which is $10 and sometimes $20 depending on the med. Why they can't fix that I don't know.
Anyway, those are my big plans for the day. That and laundry. How can three people generate so much laundry?? And one of them (me!) doesn't even get dirty!
Everyone have a great day! :)
