:D are you implying that *I'm* a boobie for not telling ?? :eek: |
Hey all! Well that chicken got cooked tonight with beans and cornbread. YUMMY! I teased Jim that it was his last supper. I know, bad joke but it was funny at the time.
We're all packed and ready but will swing by home tomorrow night to get the pets in the vet. The doc said one time a day for the antibiotics! Whoohoo! Renee, you know I am here for you. Call my cell though since we'll probably be in the hotel. He's taking Olivia away for ten days and not honoring Renee's wishes to let her come home at night or stay at a hotel near her. It's breaking Renee's heart. I told her to hang on and it's only ten days. She gets Olivia the rest of the time. All she can do is assure Olivia that momma will always be there. It's heartbreaking and he's an as$ for thinking of himself, yet once again, rather than his children. He's not even spending time with Dayton at all while he's there. :mad: |
Renee, I am so sorry you have to go through this. I will be thinking good thoughts for you and your little one.
Sandy, Hope everything goes well for you and Jim. Thankfully, the rain has stopped so you should not have any trouble getting to the hospital. I just talked to my mother in Eastern Ohio, and they do not have any electricity. They are getting the wind now, and it is 86 degrees there. Jenn, Are you ok? |
You nailed it, Sandy....he's an as$ alright. Probably thinks the world revolves around him....:rolleyes:. I hope he's not holding the financial help with the rental house over her head...or worse - threatening to withdraw the offer if he can't have his way. Such a childish attitude.....makes me wonder how he survived in the military. :confused: Can't man up to a woman yet can serve in the armed forces....nothing surprises me anymore. :mad:
|
Renee,:hug:wow I been there it is scary thing, try to hang in there, and just have faith.. I wish I had better, more reassuring words for you, I do have an ear a :hug: and prayers that ten days go by quickly:hug:, like sandy said you get princess olivia the rest of the year after this. keep that in mind it will help.:hug:
|
Renee :hug::hug:s sweetie. Just try to keep busy. He is such an AFH!!!:mad:
I will keep you and your little ones in my prayers. poor Dayton too!! I really feel for you all and have been there myself so I completely understand.:( Sandy and Jim. wishing you luck and hope everything works out. will keep you in my prayers. :hug::hug::hug: Good evening to the rest of you and hope you all had a nice weekend.:hug: Go Pats!!!!:D |
Mornin' everyone! I've been up since 3 AM!! Oh, well...I can always nap if needed.
All I hafta do today is run to the grocery for a few things. I need to go to Home Depot and get a blind for my bathroom window and a ladder so that one of the boys can reach the vents on the vaulted ceiling to clean them...they accumulate dust. Kinda doubt I'll be doing that today, though. Disability payment doesn't hit my bank account till the 25th so I'd better hold on to what little I have until then. My sister is coming to town on the 26th and will be staying with us that night (Saturday) and then staying in downtown Atlanta to attend a conference the remainder of the week. She has to stay at the hotel where the conference is being held at because they have early meetings and Atlanta is a good 60 miles south of where I live. Sandy, you got any leftovers? Good luck at the doctor's today. Barb, I hope your Mom is okay. Renee, hang in there. I know it's difficult and unfair. Just try and keep your cool and the 10 days will be up before you know it. And......knowing Mr. I Can't Make A Decision To Save My Own Life will probably bring her back early if she's upset while she's with him. Even toys, food and bribes can't break the will of a stubborn child!! For Olivia's sake I hope she has a fun time....but he needs a big dose of reality. Frank, thank you for feeding the birds! Kay, hey, do ya think that bird should be the official mascot of the Daily Insights thread? :D Fin, I hope ya'll's weather improves today. Char, how are you feeling? Is your weather turning cooler? Sarah, when do you have a day off? Seems like you're always working, girl!! OK...my brain has been somewhat active since 3 AM and I'm getting fuzzy now....so anyone I did not mention don't take offense.....I'm thinking of you but just not cognizant enough to type it all out! :o Everyone have a good morning!! |
Hey all. We're not going in today due to all the flooding in the area. The traffic is terrible and it would take us hours to just get in. Jim is feeling pretty good and says he is starting to think he's a hypochondriac. I told him no, we have ptsd. I think I told you we stopped the marinol and now he's awake and only takes one nap a day rather than sleep all day. :rolleyes:
I guess it's better to be over concerned than under concerned right? Just ignore us from here on out for two weeks until his meds are fully done OK? lol It's so hard to figure out which symptom is what when you have a UTI. Is it ms or is it a UTI? We feel like the Memorex commercials. :Bang-Head::Bang-Head::Bang-Head: |
morning all ...
sorry to hear about your trip to the doc's being setback, Sandy & Jim ... continuing with thoughts and prayers ... um - the sun is shining here ... and around 64 .. my kind of weather ... we are getting IKE's effects ... but just wind now ... hope everyone has a great day ... sorry this is short - have projects to work on, finish, and sell ... catch up with you later ... :Dancing-Chilli: |
Survived the weekend. Friday night came and went with DH's stuff still in my bedroom. Somehow I knew that would happen. He is still moving out.
Friday night he canceled our yard sale due to rain and then promptly made plans that took him away from home all day Saturday. I don't know what forecast he was going by as they weren't calling for rain on Saturday just hot and humid. They were right about the Friday night rain. Naturally it didn't rain Saturday and I wound up turning a bunch of people away. Now we are sorting everything into Goodwill, eBay, and auction piles. Made one Goodwill run on Saturday and hope to make my last (of my stuff at least) today. This afternoon is our gripe session with the pastor. I don't know what to hope happens. I'm not even sure I'm going to show up for it. To me it is a complete waste of cleaning/ packing time. I think a :grouphug: is in order. Too many of us seem to be living in the land of heavy hearts. I keep trying to tell myself my carp isn't the end of the world and that I'll be stronger for it after the dust settles. Once in a blue moon I even believe it. Plenty to do better get going. |
(((Sandy & Jim))) I'll keep you both in my prayers. No Sandy, we will not ignore you for the next 2 weeks. Silly girl. I hope Jim starts feeling better soon.:hug:
Kelly - I hope you enjoy your visit with your sister. Maybe she can take you with her to Atlanta for a relaxing vacation. That would be fun. Barb - I hope your mom has her electricity back. I can't imagine it being 86 degrees, humid, and no electricity - in other words, no a/c.:eek: Hi Soxmom! Hope your doing well. Renee - I ditto what Kay said. It is so hard. When I left the ex, DD18 was 2 and DD17 was 1. It was so hard to let them go for visitations. However, in my case, he couldn't handle it and only had visitations for 24 hours every other weekend. It still was really hard as the girls were so young. I do think the courts need to rethink how they grant visitation to kids that young. I will keep the three of you in my prayers.:hug: Fin - I hope you are doing well. Hey, our boy won yesterday but your boy did a nice interview after the race. I thought of you as they were interviewing him. Frank - That bird looks like me when my balance is off. LOL Whoaaa! LOL Vonn - I am envious!!! That is perfect weather. I am so waiting for summer to be over with. It is still in the upper 90's here.:mad: The mornings are cooling off some and soon, I hope, I will be able to start my morning walks back up. I really do miss them. Good morning everyone else! I hope everyone has a great day! Today I am off to the printers. I have a meeting there at 8:00. I need to get some pricing so that I can do my balance sheet and projections, etc. for my business plan. I have given myself 1 year to get everything up and running. DDs will be (we hope) out on their own in 1 year. Child support and their disability benefits will stop and if I don't come up with something, I will be living in my car.:eek::D Well, not really. DBF and I will move in together as planned but I refuse to be financially dependent on a man. That does not make for a good situation. Well, I better get my butt in gear. |
Quote:
Show up for the meeting anyhow. If DH doesn't show, you can have a nice venting session with the pastor. Sometimes just letting it all out like that helps. And yes, you will be much stronger once things settle down and you are back on track. :hug::grouphug: |
Just found out that about 400,000 people in Ohio are without power, including my family. I am worried about by mother. She is 80. I called and my brother was checking on her. Unfortunately all the stores are closed and they were not prepared for this. They were not supposed to get hit with Ike. I read a few articles on line and they said it may be several days before they get the power back on as they sent all of their extra crews and equipment to Houston.
It is ironic as my sister in Texas was all prepared with extra water, batteries, candles, etc and they did not get anything. Has Jenn checked in? |
I haven't seen Jenn yet. Barb, I am praying for your family and anyone affected by the storm. :hug:
Weave, :hug: I think you should go to the meeting. It may help you gain the perspective you need. |
Just read the Columbus, oH paper and it says that 1 million are without power and it may take a week to restore it.
|
Barb have you been able to reach her or other family members, these generators wont run a central air unit but will run a window unit, just a thought what about a motel or a quick visit on train to see you? praying all is well there and for our Finnie girl too, she is without power or she would of said hello by now, hope all works out real quick, been an interesting weekend, this dam IKE what he did down south is horrific, and what it did up here plus that other storm been a wierd A## weekend that's for sure:hug: barb barbs mom and finny

Kay mia amigo:hug:, my friend I would never insinuate anything, worse thing is at one time I knew that cool looking birds name, thats what sucks, I thought you might know per chance, cause my audubon books are pretty thorough, and couldnt find it in them, Y'all got to admit that bird is so lol funky looking Kay:hug: vonn howd y :hug how you feeling, well I hope. I just talked to my mom on her cell phone. Actually she talked and I listened. She wears a cochlear implant for hearing and can hardly hear on the phone anymore Some areas are getting power back so maybe they will still get it back on today. She said there are several trees down on her street. My brother has made reservations at a hotel for tonight for all of them including my mom if the power is not back on. They will probably have to make her go with them. She was really bitter that she missed the Steelers/Browns game. LOL! It is no longer hot there either.
Have to go teach another class!:OuttaHere: |
good glad to hear this barb tell her she didnt miss anything but a few cheap shots by each team and it was a miserable game, tonights game at the hotel will be a better game, I hope lol
|
feet burning like crazy, calves zing-zoinging, toes standing upright, blurry and double vision, headache, backache, dizzy, blah blah blah!
:eek::(:eek: think I'll go back to bed for a few days. :p:D:p Frank, Ah wuz jes' teasin' :grouphug::hug::grouphug: |
Here are some pics of the lake I live at. These were taken a few minutes ago by me at our lodge. Now, although it may seem pretty minor, and it is, the water has taken half of the beach out and the green area, as well as one neighbors yard. Look at the flag pole. The rest of the area is Ok but there are docks floating around with nowhere to go and not sure if they will get back to the rightful owners. Thank the good Lord up above that the rain stopped because if it kept going we'd be flooded for sure.
Community walk on docks broke and floating away: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...ef951c20b5.jpg Neighbors flag pole: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...1a98dbff8f.jpg Half of beach gone: http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...4f27c0031d.jpg I think this tree will get watered, what do you think? http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...c021ddc7c2.jpg |
Hi all,
Sycamore got flooded by the trailer park (again). Those poor people had to be moved (those who would go). There was nothing in our local paper until today. :mad: I was thinking all weekend that they had made it through this one unscathed, but not so. Two of my little trees I just planted were leaning over slightly, so DH had to go out and stake them yesterday. Luckily the yard didn't open up and swallow him, it was that wet and spongy back there. I hope everyone will be doing ok with the flood waters starting to recede and hopefully the power being restored. We have one small generator big enough for our freezer and/or the sump pump. We were very lucky our power didn't go out. These storms are just crazy, and still there are people who tell me they don't believe in global warming. :confused: It wasn't like this when I was growing up, was it? At least not all the time like it is now. |
Thanks Frank, hugsss
I am slowing down, my body is achey all over, hurting....the other day killed me I guess... worse than me...My sister Madeline, she finally told my mom, that the past few weeks, she has been either in bed, or very very tired, and hurting a lot... please pray for her, and my brother in law... my nieces boyfriend, just came over there and asked them for their daughters hand in marriage...and wants to know if cool with them if they do the wedding really soon....( I think he knows my sister since this cancer started worried about not seeing either of her daughters weddings....her son got married right as she first started the cancer....) So maybe there will be a wedding coming real soon...we will see...just hoping she is not in too much pain...she is also now on a list with another specialist from one other area....that if she does more testing they want to try to treat her.....I am not sure if she is going to go for more testing for that....or just fight now without meds....unsure... hugsss all, thanks for your continued prayers for my babys name sake..Madeline....my little one is Maria Madeline....but as you know we have called her Maddie ever since her birth....(that madeline was there for) hugss all, mellow now..gotta go get busy, hugsss,sarah |
Hey all thanks for all the kind thoughts, I am beat, my doc was great she said I was th best employee she has ever had and that I act like I have been working there at least 6 months already and that she cannot believe I haven't worked in a clinic before, so that was nice, unfortunately I was also the on call nurse today so I ended up working almost 11 hours! I am off to bed shortly!

Get some rest, Renee! Isn't it nice to hear that you're doing a good job? I mean, a raise and stuff like that is always nice but just to hear the words from a superior that they think you're doing a great job is sometimes worth even more! I'm so glad to hear that the job is working out. This is just one of many things that will be working out in your favor! :) |
I'm going to catch up on everyone's posts in a second, but wanted to let you guys know I'm ok.
We were out of power for about 24 hours. Our internet provider didn't get back up until we woke this morning. There's still over 200,000 in my area out of power. Thankfully the temps dropped so being without A/C hasn't been bad since the winds stopped. Though during the windstorm I did have to take a cold shower to cool off once.:rolleyes: We lost a butterfly bush and part of the trim of the house. LOL, wish it wasn't the piece of trim on the second floor. Hubby and roofs don't get along, so we need to hunt down someone who can help. Thankfully the tree was, according to my insane hubby who went outside for a little while, on the calmest area for the wind. It shook like crazy, lost all it's leaves, but still hung in there. We get winds like this on occassion, but the length of time it hit us is not something central ohio is used to, LOL Hoping everyone's ok. :grouphug: |
Renee, just read up on all going on. Sorry to hear about what's going on. :hug: Hope you recovered well from your long day at work.
Weave, Still thinking of ya. :hug: Kay, hope you're feeling better today. :hug: Sarah, Thanks for the update of your sis. Know you're going through a lot right now. Prayers still going out. :hug: Sandy, Thanks for the pics. Yep, I think that tree got watered - LOL Everyone, If I missed ya, sorry. :( But still love ya all. :grouphug: |
:yahoo: nice to see you back online, Jenn! :yahoo: you were missed and many prayers were being sent for your safety ...
|
DH and I went to our gripe to the pastor session yesterday and stayed for the whole thing. I don't know what will happen next there. For more information go to the spiritual forum and look for my thread titled "help needed". The top post on page four deals with the meeting.
Sorry I'm being so vague about the reasons for the marriage breakdown. I try to post things as though they are plastered on billboards from coast to coast. I got enough problems as it is without something I post on the 'net coming back to bite me. Just saying my marriage is on the rocks broke that rule. The other thing is we are dealing with many issues not just one or two. I can't thank you enough for your constant kind words, hugs, and prayers. Wish I could collect those hugs in person but for now a warm heart will have to do. Plenty to do so I better get moving. |
Hey Weave .. continued in thoughts and prayer ... it sounds like you are moving forward ... step by step ... and it may seem slow at times, remember that you are moving ahead!
UPDATE:: sun is shining ... and clear ... have some things to work on today (painting) ... will catch up with you later this afternoon! be good (that means you too :Poke: Frank!!) ;) |
Weave, :hug::hug:
~~~~~~ LOL, think all the roofers are busy or still out of power. Tried to get estimates, but could only get through to one. Everyone else either has a full message box or busy signals. :D |
Good morning everyone!
Jenn! Good to see you! :hug: The governor is trying to get Cook County declared a disaster. The flooding was terrible. Weave, I wish one of us were near too so you'd have the hug in person. :hug: Sarah, I am so sorry about Madeline. I know that feeling of not knowing when and if things will get better. My closest uncle was supposed to come and live with me after Christmas a couple of years ago. All he wanted was one more Christmas with his boys and wife before they came up here. He knew I would do everything I could to make sure he'd go in peace. His wife was a mess and he needed someone to help her get through the pain. Unfortunately he passed before Christmas and it just about broke everything I had. I couldn't believe within less than a year he was here and then gone. I am sorry for that story but thought it might help to know you are not alone. I hate cancer, it's taken so many in my family. It's all so unfair. I think her daughter and her fiance are doing the right thing. I pray Madeline finds some kind of peace and time without pain. God bless her. Why do good people have to suffer? I don't think we'll ever know but I do know Jesus suffered for us and that somehow that brings peace to my heart. Just know I am praying for a miracle for your sister. I believe miracles can happen but I also know if they don't it's God's way of telling us he has another plan. :hug: Vonn, it's so nice here too. I may finish my painting today or go see my cousin. Hmmm, what should we do? lol Renee, :hug: I am thinking about you and hope today goes well. Give Olivia and Dayton a big hug from me OK? I have some McDonald's toys for them so send me your addy when you get a chance OK? Kitty, how are you today? How's the weather? I hope your getting cooler like we are. Frank, where are you mister? :D Wiz, I was listening to the weather station on am radio and they kept talking about the Kish river. How is it up there today? Our river in Lasalle is at flood stage when it reaches 20 feet. it was over 30 feet yesterday. :eek: Tara, Becky, Deb, Holly, how are you guys doing? Hope everyone has a good day today. Jim said he's feeling great. how about that? his bp even went down. Whoohoo! :grouphug: |
I am getting ready to go to my Neuro appoinment today. I hope she can figure out what to do about my thighs. I am just miserable.:(
I keep trying to be positive about the situation but it is really hard since it has been going on for so long.:( IT HURTS!:(:( I posted a short thread on the MS site asking everyone to cross your fingers and say a little prayer for me.:) I haven't been able to keep up with how everyone is doing but hopefully I will be able to soon.:hug: Hugs to all of you.:grouphug::grouphug: Becky:hug: |
Becky, hope the appointment goes well. :hug::hug:
~~~~~ It's offical. Our area is under a state of emergancy. It seems like those a little south of us got it much worse than our neighborhood. Been trying to contact some of our friends to check on them, but no luck as of yet. Went out to get some things, and everyone's been talking about the outages and wind. I know with all the other fun weather stuff going on, it seems kinda small - but please add Ohio to your prayers. |
Fin, Sandy and all..
thanks for your thoughts for my sister and I....as you said Sandy....sometimes these things hit the good ones...but I do believe somehow God gives the strong ones the things to deal with....that he knows what we each can handle..... hugss to all... I am heading for a nap with the two little ones...if I can get both to take a nap...came home a bit early from work..ever since that day I did the long shift..Sat. I have been in pain....today stiffness and pain thru out body..hurts to do anything...worked but hard to do it....so wish we could afford for me to work less....nice dreams hehe... well baby wants mommy time...hugsss,and back on later I bet, sarah |
Where's Frank? Normally by this time he's posted a hundred times in this thread alone!! :D Hope everyone is okay....
It's been very cloudy here today but cool and breezy....just the way I love it!! I only wish it would stay like this. I know better....we always get what we call "Indian summer" here in Sept/Oct. I'll just enjoy this while we have it. I'm waiting for the Charter cable man to get here...we've had such troubles with our telephone service through them. I got pretty verbal on the phone with them yesterday and they said they'd lower my phone service cost to $19.99 a month for the next year! Wonder what I've have gotten if I had cussed? :eek::D I cannot decide what to fix for dinner tonight. Ordering pizza is sounding better and better. I won't eat it but the boys have got to have something and they both like pizza...okay, I've decided it'll be pizza. Thanks for helping me make that decision! :o This thread is quiet today....guess the storms and stuff have everyone busy. I hope everyone is okay. There was a thread on the MS Forum about Sally C...she's OK just without power. Ya'll take care! |
Hi everyone...hope everyone who got drenched by the remnants of Ike are drying out...pray for those in Texas...it's going to be a long road to recovery...:grouphug:
We only got a tiny bit of water in the basement, but got it up quickly with the wetvac. But downtown Naperville is flooded by the DuPage River. The water's lapping against the bottom of the bridges, and the Riverwalk is now part of the river. I went downtown and took pics yesterday to show the kids who live out of town. The PT for arthritis in my foot still doesn't seem to be doing much. It's so frustrating. Hope all of you take care...Weave, know that our thoughts are with you:grouphug: Barb, hope your mom is doing okay. Ike sure cut a wide swath! Sarah, know that you're in our thoughts, too...it's so hard to watch when someone we love is ill... |
I just talked to my mom, and they are telling them that they hope to have the power on by Sunday. Of course she would not go to the hotel last night because she wants to sleep in her own bed.:rolleyes: She is going over to my sisters tonight to watch the Big Brother finale (she has her prioirites ), but does not want to stay overnight.
I can't help being depressed about all of the financial news. I do not have enough credits to ever qualify for Social Security, but I will receive a pension from the state. Well now they are tring to pass a referenda to call for a constitutional convention in the state, and one of the key issues that they want to change is pension protection for state eployees. I also have a small annuity I have been contributing to (under 20,000) that is through AIG the insurance company that may go under, and I have less money in my IRA than I have contributed due to losses. I am tempted to just start putting any savings I manage to come up with in CD's. At least you get a little bit of interest and it is protected by the FDA. I am totally dependent on myself so this really scares me. |
Frank, hope all is going well.
Barb, Hoping the power people are just padding their estimate for service. :hug: I've heard they've pulled some people from other states to help with the problem. ~~~~~~ We're going to meet one of our friends for dinner. They are out of power still, so they need to find food. After talking with them, I realized how lucky our area is. It seems that we had only one thing causing an outage to a lot of places real close to us - so it was a one fix and most everything came back up. Stay safe everyone. :grouphug: |
Thanks Jenn! Have a good dinner! Have you ever gone to Cheeseburger in Paradise? I think there is one near you. I love their sweet potato chips -- health food:D
Where is Frank??? Hope you are okay!:hug: Kay -- Hope you feel better. Sandy, Have you heard from him? Becky, Hope your appointment went well. Hey everyone! It seems like it has been a quiet day here. Hope you areall ok. I need to go do some reading for one of my classes tomorrow. Seems like I have wasted the entire afternoon away.:eek: How does that happen? |
Quote:
I think that's a great idea Barb. You can get them for 6 months so your money isn't tied up long term if you need it for an emergency or unforeseen expense. I'm totally dependent on myself, too, and it's not a great feeling most of the time. I wish I had been smarter when there were two of us working and put aside some in CD's or maybe a Money Market. Oh, well..............:( |
