FYI, I added a message about Renee at the end of my earlier post. I promised to update for her. She's had a day from heck yesterday.

soxmom 10-30-2008 09:36 AM

Good morning everyone.

Char.........yay....last class!!!!!!

Sarah.......hang in there sweetie:hug:

Renee.......you poor thing.......life has just got to get better!!! praying
that it will:hug:

fin and frank........rest up y'all!!!!

Sandy .........dont look down!!!

Cindy.......good luck in finding the perfect place:hug:

Barb.....Im sorry your weekend is not working out as planned.. I hope
you find something fun to do.:hug:

Kelly.....nothing better than free candy and stuff! way to work it!!!

DM.........Im glad your friend is doing better.:hug:

Tara........:hug:

To all who are lurking Happy Thursday!!

My Update: In a little while Im going to my ds16's doc for a talk about
alll the neuropsych and neurologist reports. They have said he cannot
return to his contact sports.:( He thinks he should chance it and play
and I should sign off the papers.:(

Its not happening, the psychologist said that if sports was the only thing
he could do then maybe take a chance. but with his high intelligence , he
could do anything and he should not take a chance after having 3 concussions
and suffering from pcs for almost a year.

Its really hurting me to watch him hurt. He even went to an indoor
lacross meeting the other day. He is going to really hurt when he finally
gets it. So please if you will say a prayer that he will understand finally
and that he will take it the best one can. Id really appreciate it. Im
dealing with this with both of my sons and its been very hard.

Thanks for listening................

Speaking of the south. My good friend Tom Hunt told me southern girls say "Ya'll come" and northern girls say "You all come." :D

Fixin to do something is a common phrase. Fatbacks are used on a daily basis and I do believe they would use it in coffee if they could get away with it. Me? I just add a slice or two of bacon to my pinto beans. ;) And do not forget, duct tape is a major repair item one cannot live without. :p

Over and out. :grouphug:

WHOOPS! I forgot to tell you! Renee called me yesterday with the worse day. She was having one of those days that make you want to crawl back under the covers. She then calls me back about a half an hour later and tells me she hit a deer! They are all OK but Olivia was crying because she thought the deer was hurt. Awwww. She said the day couldn't get worse and went off to bed.

Sandy, the only way I'd get on my MIL's roof is if there was a witness and someone to keep her occupied so she didn't climb up and shove me off!! :eek: :p She's just not a stable person and life's events over the past eight years have made it worse.
That's sweet of you to want to help her out.

LOL, we do say "ya'll come" and "ya'll come back now, y'here?". My Mom, who was the typical southern lady, used to say "how dooooo!" whenever she'd greet someone. I can still hear her today! :)

I use bacon when I don't have fatback, too. Sometimes it has more meat on it and the flavor is just better sometimes.

:D

SandyC 10-30-2008 09:39 AM

Sox, I'm on it. :hug:

BTW, I am not going on the roof. I wont even go on my own roof. lol I am just removing the cable cord and attaching the antenna cord. Like Kitty said, she may push me off if I'm not looking! :yikes:

soxmom 10-30-2008 09:41 AM

thanks Sandy.:)

Sox, Will keep DS in prayer :hug:

Char, Glad the class is almost over for ya.

Sandy, Hope you can get everything worked out for your mom. Thanks for the update on Renee.

Frank, MS blues is definitely not going, LOL. We have three pieces that are not for sale, and that's one of them. Finding acceptance and the one I made for hubby (spirit of the open road) are the others. Two of them are my "heart on a sleeve" paintings, so can't bring myself to part with them, even though I think they were my best ones.

Renee, :hug: Sorry to hear about what's going on. Hope things get better. :hug:

SandyC 10-30-2008 09:55 AM

Come on Char, you can solve that equation. I know you can. :hug:

Hint: First step is subtract x.

Coffee is a good answer though. lol

You and your DS are both in my prayers. He'll be upset at first but as he realizes that life is full of so much more for him he'll come around. It's hard in the meantime, though. I pray for strength for both of you. You're a good Mom, Sox, and he knows that, too. :hug:

ewizabeth 10-30-2008 10:03 AM

Good morning everyone!

It's a chilly sunny morning in N. Illinois, and they claim it will reach 60 degrees today. I hope they're right! It's supposed to continue through the weekend too. :)

Now, my Mom would have never said that about anybody....but she could make you feel guilty as sin with just a look. Even if you hadn't done anything!! :o

Kelly, that's hilarious! :ROTFLMAO: My Mom could also make you feel guilty with a look. Oh I miss her!

Deb,

You're making me hungry, lol... I recall our Southern relatives calling pop, sodie. You want a sodie with yer biscuits hun? :D And that was just Southern Illinois!

My update:

I had my 19th Ty infusion yesterday and brain MRI's done. I got the CD so I checked out the images. They looked good to me, but what do I know? lol... On examination the neuro noticed some double vision when I looked to the left, sort of like image jumping. He wants my records from the eye doctor. The one thing I've never had is vision symptoms. I hope it was just a fluke.

I had a serious mishap a couple of weeks ago and I didn't even discover it until Sunday. Something sort of scary and I hope it was a onetime thing. Say a little prayer for me ok?

Everybody,

Have a great day in your own neck of the woods. Tomorrow is Friday! :)
Anyone who needs a :hug:or a :smileypray: I've got you covered. :grouphug:

weegot5kiz 10-30-2008 11:18 AM

Sox your son and you and your family are deep in my prayers and thoughts, i am sorry for this cross road he has reached, but 3 in a short term is not good, one more bad one and he could be hurt forever, point out some of the good quarterbacks who used their smarts and got out b4 too late like troy aikman, he was in his prime and was doing great, but made a choice, one that will help him down the road in life, I can understand his feelings, and feel bad for him but to take this chance is not good math.:hug: hang in there mom

Renee I hope you get to feeling better real soon, you have been through the ringer for some time now, :hug: and many more :hug:, miss ya, take it easy

MS blues is a real nice piece of art Fin, i can understand not letting it go, still i think its one of the cooler pieces you have, and that light tower just reaches out to me, have a good day today Jen:hug:

Wiz ... keep the fish oils (fish and omega 3s) going .. and vit C ... I have to too .. and I 'see' that it's beneficial ... keeping you in thought and prayer!

I did not have time to read all of your posts. I probably will be gone for a few days. Anya (my niece) and sis and BIl are on there way here afterall. She is still coughing and has alot of mo mos (boogers), but no fever this morning. Hopefully, the plane trip will go ok. FinLady 10-30-2008 02:45 PM

Barb, Good vibes heading your way!

Sandy, not sure about the GPS except to make sure there's a feature to download updated maps. Best of luck in your search.

~~~~~
It's amazing the things you find sometimes while cleaning..hehe. I found two canvas boards I haven't used yet. They were in pretty good shape, and all I had to do was re-prep them. I love finding forgotten stuff when you need them. :trampoline:
tkrik 10-30-2008 02:57 PM
Sandy - Where did you find that picture of AMN smacking everyone? LOL
Vonn - Love the cards!!! You did a great job.
Barb - Enjoy your visit with your family. I'll keep you in my prayers that you don't get sick.
Fin - It is fun to find that stuff. I'll be looking for some more great paintings from you.;)
Sox - :hug::hug::hug: Saying prayers for you all.
Sarah - Saying prayers for you as well. You will get through this and come out ahead of the game. Think of this as gaining knowledge and experience.:hug::hug::hug:
Frank - Sorry if I missed a post but I hope you are feeling better.
Hi everyone else I may have missed; thinking of you all too!
Update - Working on some cards but my printer decided it doesn't like magenta any more. LOL Need to get a new magenta cartridge.
Spent yesterday working on transcribing. . . lots of dictation was done yesterday. Yeah!!!!
I'm ready....even went out and bought some "extra" candy in case my supply gets low. :rolleyes:
Debbie D 10-31-2008 08:28 AM
Howdy, all!!!
It's Halloween...my DD's favorite holiday (her birthday's on 10/28)...
I'm so glad to have her home for the weekend!! Miss her terribly since she decided to stay in WI after graduating...we went out for a bagel for breakfast, then went to the outlet mall and shopped...after taking the dogs for a long walk.
Big mistake...had so much pain in my knees and ankles by the time we were finished...I rested when we got home, and the pain dissipated over the evening.
But it's so darned frustrating, not being able to be as active as I used to be. :(
It's a beautiful morning...supposed to be 70 today!! It will be great to see the kids' costumes without coats over them!!
Just be careful when driving today...don't want any little ones hurt!!
Kitty 10-31-2008 09:24 AM
Today is my oldest sister's birthday. She's (dare I say it??) 63!! She's 16 years older than me.....and sort of like a Mom to me....but nobody can ever take the place of my Mom.
I just spoke with her and wished her a Happy Birthday. Her daughter's bought her a spa package and she went yesterday and got a massage, manicure and pedicure. She said she could get used to that!!
She just lost her job last week and has been sort of upset about that (she's divorced and lives alone...with her cat). The job market is not good and she's got a newly purchased (2007) condo and car. :eek:
I tried to get her to move down here (she lives in VA) but she can't sell her place for a profit right now. So.....she's sorta stuck.
Ya'll please remember her in your prayers. I know she'll come out of this okay but I can imagine that it's very worrisome to her. She's not old...but it's hard to find a job as an older adult. It's hard to find a job, period, right now.
soxmom 10-31-2008 09:44 AM
Happy Halloween all!!!:)
Kelly.........saying prayers for your sis....it would be fun to live close.
Tara.........have fun seeing Obama at the rally.:D
Barb.......glad your niece is feeling better and they can make it. Have fun!
Tricia.......hi nice to see you.:hug:
Good morning to those who have not checked in yet!!!!
My Update: We had a halloween parade early this a.m......We will
go out this afternoon in our downtown then we will attend another
parade and trick or treat following that.
My oldest will come home from college this weekend and we will have
a big birthday party for him and my dh tommorrow. gotta get cookin:D
I am fuming at my ds's doc. They gave the neuro psych results to
a different doc at the practice so we saw him instead. His regular
doc told me a year ago regardless of the results of neuro psych , he
would not sign off on any contact sports . This was after consulting
with the neuro.
So yesterday the doc tells him he will sign off but its ultimately up
to him and I to decide. :mad::mad::mad: I was so upset, I fully
expected this doc to back me up and say he would not sign off.@*%$$#!!
So now my son says I am ruining his life that even the doc says its okay!!!!
Well, Im not signing the papers and am calling the regular doc for some
support. This will only do me good until next year as he will turn 18 in
Dec and says he will be playing lacross then.
How do you tell a 17 year old boy and make him understand that he
is playing with his future.:(:(:confused::o That three concussions make
him succeptible to more concussions which will be ultimately worse.
Im praying for wisdom but I have none!!!! *sigh*
ewizabeth 10-31-2008 09:47 AM
Morning Everybody! Happy Halloween!
Fin,
I like your paintings! My favorites were Just Beachy, Insanity, and MS Blues. I like the way you use colors in your paintings. :)
Renee,
I hope you'll feel better over the weekend. :hug:
Soxmom,
Saying a prayer for you and your sons. :hug:
HK,
I need a calculator too, or Excel, or accounting software, lol. I loved the math formulas in my college courses, but I had to work hard at it. I wish I had a math brain, lol. I do however have a cost cutting brain and that's good for business, lol.
Tkrik,
Are you making cards like the ones Vonn made? If so, that's great! Also, I admire you doing transcription. You can do that from home, right?
Barb,
Have fun with your company this weekend! Maybe take some zinc tablets or something to ward off the germs?
Blues Girl,
Have fun at the rally tonight! Maybe you and your DH will be on TV!
Frank,
Your chicken and noodles looked great! :Starvin: DH makes something similar with Chicken Helper. He adds a half pound of sliced fresh mushrooms too. Yum, I have some leftovers for lunch today.
Sandy,
What's with the math problems? You're not trying to scare me away are you? lol Anyway, for the GPS, someone I know swears by Garmin brand. I've thought of getting one for myself someday too. I hope you and Jim will enjoy this beautiful weekend!
Vonn,
I like the cards you made! I hope you're having nice weather up north! :hug:
Debbie D
Enjoy your weekend with your daughter! :) Sorry about your legs giving you problems. :hug:
I recall three summers ago when we were on our family vacation up north with our sons. We went to a flea market that goes on for at least a mile. I'd worn jeans, and it was getting sunny so I started to get overheated. I was walking with our youngest son, then 22. I started to feel week and my legs might buckle. My breathing was labored trying to get to shade or a spot to sit down. DS was terrified. I started to get teary eyed seeing his face, and for myself too. By the time we reached the ladies room, I was bent over, tears streaming. I got inside, sat on the floor and covered my face and cried. The ladies cleared the line and let me into a stall where I sat for about 15 minutes and let it all out. Then went to the sink and drenched my face, neck and hands with cold water to cool off. I was a mess, and my son was terrified seeing me that way. I tried to console him telling him everything was fine, and maybe I'd get a wheelchair for next summer.
Anyway, I didn't have those symptoms this summer, thank God, though we didn't take our summer trip up north. I think the worst part of it is not being able to do what we want with our loved ones. It really sucks big time.
My update since yesterday:
I feel better today, and it's also Friday and Halloween! Tomorrow I'll sleep late, but I need to clean house this weekend. Not much else that I can think of...
Anyone I missed:
Have a great weekend, a fun Halloween, and remember, you're all in my prayers whether you like it or not, lol. :grouphug:
soxmom 10-31-2008 09:49 AM
:Wave-Hello: Hi Wiz.........Happy Halloween to you too.:hug:
I'd be upset, too. That doctor should have consulted with you first before saying what he did in front of your son. :mad:
I wonder if there is any literature that you could get that your son could read about the dangers of another concussion?
I hope he'll realize that you're just trying to protect him and his future.
