Kitty 10-20-2008 05:09 AM

Good Morning! I got a decent night's sleep last night so I'm feeling pretty good this morning! :)

I read posts yesterday but just didn't feel like posting much....ever have days like that?

Guess what?? I had to turn my HEAT on this morning!! Yea!!!!!
It was 63 degrees in the house when I woke up. Probably wouldn't have been so bad except I have hardwood floors everywhere except the bedrooms and it gets cold!! Brrrrrr!

Kevin and Jessica lit up the fire pit in the backyard Saturday night and had a bonfire and made s'mores. Now I have two huge Hershey's chocolate bars in the cupboard (unopened) because they bought enough for a whole scout troop!! Hmmmmm.....guess I'll probably have to eat them so they don't spoil!! :rolleyes:

Gas is at an all time low here....$2.78 a gallon. Does anyone find it odd that gas prices come down just three weeks before the Presidential election?? It'll be interesting to see if they creep back up after it's over.....:eek:

I've been reading about the GTG in DeKalb! Sounds like such fun!! I hope ya'll have a blast and can't wait to see the pics! :D
Makes me wonder what poor, unsuspecting waitress (or waiter) will be the next victim?! :D

Well, gotta go figure out what I'm doing today. I tried to keep up with everyone's posts but just couldn't! I do remember that Kay is almost under water!! Please be careful. And watch out for snakes in all that water.....ewwwww!

Everybody have a wonderful day! :grouphug:

FinLady 10-20-2008 08:14 AM

Good morning all. :) Just sitting here sipping my morning coffee, wearing my fuzzy socks, and watching the sun slowly dissolve the early frost.

Going to the grochery store later when it's a little warmer out, lol. And a couple other chores are lined up in the wing too.

Hope everyone has a great day. :grouphug:

~~~~~
Kay, the last pic you had of the flooding made my hubby laugh. It was a little ironic to see a canoe go by a gas station sign. :D Glad you are stocked up with supplies. Be safe. :hug:
Kelly, I agree that the timing of the gas prices going down is a little odd. But I have a feeling it'll go back up. :(
soxmom 10-20-2008 08:24 AM
Good Morning all!!!!:hug:
Kay .......please stay safe.:hug::hug:
Kelly........gas here was 2.69 yesterday:eek: I say we should all
go on a long roadtrip before it goes up.:)
My UPDATE: tired here long weekend with little sleep. I worked the
fall festival this weekend at my little one's school. Had to leave early
as my dh took off the fatty part of his pinky with the metal part of
the dog run.:eek: Had to take him to er. He almost passed out.
The metal was stuck in the wedge of tissue. Yuck!!!!
Scared my parents as they were afraid they couldnt pick him up(hes is
6'3" 250 lbs:eek:).
Stayed up too late watching baseball games. Im ready for next year
and actually feel happy for ;the Rays to move on. Im proud of the good
competition in the AL east. We fight for our playoff spots.:D
Later on I have to babysit a couple of my daughters friends until 8:30
pm.
My dh birthday is tomorrow and Im having
a dinner for him tomorrow evening. Gotta make a cake a little later.
Some how I got picked to ;chaperone a field trip for my dd9's class. I
didnt know it was a "walk to the park" and treasure hunt trip. Please
say a prayer for me that I make it . Im gonna be fried by the time
we are thru with dinner in the eve.:(:o
Gonna chill for a little before I start moving.
:hug::hug::hug:s to the room.:grouphug:
Good morning everyonehttp://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/greet013.gif
Kelly glad you got a good night sleep, has it cool down somewhat down yonder? they still keep flexing gas here 350 to 330 a gallon here. I feel for you in you sacrificehttp://i288.photobucket.com/albums/l.../cocosmile.gif
morning sox it was and will turn out to be the best series, I don't see the world series being that good, i am upset game seven and those two called out strikes late in the game horrible officiating, I will say the officials in the sox series have been good but the brew crew cubs and rays have been a poor demonstration of officiating, as you all have said many times before (until recently) just like us cubs fans wait till next year
Morning Fin, good morning, hope your weekend wasnt too tough
its not odd its happened before like this 4 yrs ago when it first starting climbing it went down for the election month or so and went back up after wards
Happy Monday, its a good day to smile
ooops, almost forgot, my pal Marge posted some more flood shots on her blog, of our Cayo area (Cayo is like a state, a section of Belize)
JustWeave 10-20-2008 09:27 AM
Mornin' all! :D Wow what a difference a week makes. Last week at this time I was drowning in a deep pit from hades and today I'm soaring up with the eagles so high I am making myself sick. Yep, still floating on a harp concert cloud. Now home life continues to sucketh mucheth but I just deal with it moment by moment and move on.
Friday's batch of chili sauce gave the freezer about 13 cups of winter goodness. I always freeze the sauce for later use. My mouth watered every time my nose got teased by the aroma. I made it knowing we were going to go out to eat that night too. Should have just eaten at home. It would have been so much better. :rolleyes:
Frank- Behave yourself. It is a good way to stay out of the dreaded hospital. Really like your wave from the computer smilie too.
Kay- :eek: Better report in at least once every 12 hours or someone is going to send out a search plane for you.
Vonn- Clear answer vibes on the job/ home front.
Just waded through 9 pages of posts from my last one. Big :hug: to those I didn't mention by name.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Weekend news... DH had a bunch of his stuff piled in half of my living room. All but one item left on Saturday! Woohoo. Oh I forgot about some artwork hanging on the walls. Well I will deal with that later. I'm really enjoying the space. I have a jigsaw puzzle started in there and I'm even trying to tickle the (piano) ivories a little.

On Sunday while everyone else was at church I got dressed up to go out later in the afternoon. They arrived back home and an hour later said they were going mini golfing would I like to come along. Hmm. I'm dressed to go to a special treat I've drooled over since reading about it the day before. Even though I didn't say anything about it you can plainly see I have plans. You rarely include me in your Sunday afternoon outings but today you decide to ask. :confused: Whatever! :rolleyes: Well I changed clothes and purses so I could spend the afternoon playing mini golf with the family. I tied for first place with DD. :D I gave up a 400 member choir with orchestra, hymn sing to mini golf. It just about killed me to do that but time spent with my kids is never wasted time. And I did get my battery recharged at the harp concert I snuck off to. :D

And now for my plans for the day... Divide and freeze a large bag of chicken breasts, move enough of DH's carp (some from living room) out of my kitchen so I can function better in there:mad:, deal with kitchen mess created by DH's carp in my way:mad:, and tackle some more of my clutter in my bedroom. Sounds like enough for one day.

Cheers!

weegot5kiz 10-20-2008 09:33 AM

wonderful to hear some upbeat news Weave:hug: and your right any good time with the kids is the best. Glad the harps helped:hug:

Kay thank you I just check out that link saved a few pics for our desk top home page, i noticed a lot of stuff was in english down that way, why? cause of the meenonites (sp?) or what ever they are call

SandyC 10-20-2008 10:02 AM

Oh Kay, I am hearing this for some reason:

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny Ship.
The mate was a mighty sailin' man, the Skipper brave and sure,
Five passengers set sail that day for a three hour tour.
A three hour tour.
The weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed.
If not for the courage of the fearless crew, the Minnow would be lost.
The Minnow would be lost.
The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle
With Gilligan, the Skipper too, a Millionaire and his wife,
A movie star, the Professor and Mary Ann, here on Gilligan's Isle.

Morning everyone! How are you feeling? We have to get out today for a few essentials and then back home. I am excited to meet DM and Cindy Thursday and hope everyone can make it. I wonder what time we'll meet? Frank, how are you today?

:grouphug: to all.

yes, that shot was the best!, lmao!

and whoa!

I just went down to look at the river, and it's AMAZINGLY high!

there's dozens of vehicles parked on the hill, waiting for the river to subside, so they can get home...

but it might be DAYS.

it's not raining right now, but... there's big ol' gray clouds massing on the horizon.

skips off singing: send lawyers, guns and money, the **** has hit the fan!

Frank, English is the official language of Belize - this place used to be called the British Honduras, and was colonized by England.

that's how I can handle life here so well, all the property deeds, legal papers, tax stuff, monthly utility bills, etc. are in my native language, since mi Espanol isn't very good yet.

most helpful is that all the street signs, restaurant menus, radio shows, and newspapers are in English... makes it so much easier to get along in a foreign country.

the Mennonites speak German, and they're only 1% of the population here... and didn't arrive until 50 years ago, so it can't be because of them, lol!

:hug:

and yes, Weave, I PROMISE to check in... but never fear, we are up on the hill, and our land is flat, so no worry of mudslides either... I looked VERY carefully before I bought land, thinking of every possibility.

:hug:

yep, San, we're on an ISLAND of dry land at the moment, surrounded on all sides by water...

and our cisterns are FULL, FULL, FULL !!

that means, we have stored almost 17,000 gallons of water, wowzers!

:D:cool::D

is it nappytime yet?

FinLady 10-20-2008 01:02 PM

Weave, glad you had fun with the kids. :)

Frank, love those smileys. :) Especially the one hugging the candy bar, ROFL. :D

Kay, Thanks for checking in with us.

~~~~~~~~~
Well, it's a wait and see about the remainder of the chores today. Still not really done with the first one, lol.
Step 1: Went to the store, came back, got grocheries into the house.
Step 2: rest
Step 3: get all those perishable things that need to go in fridge and freezer put away.
Step 4: rest
Step 5 (which I haven't gotten to yet :rolleyes:): put everything else away.
So, think my energy level's a little down today. :D But that's ok, got a lot done yesterday and no longer have an empty cupboard (in a manner of speaking, lol)
And my car has to go into the shop tomorrow to get looked at. So glad I got out today.
Hope everyone's having a great day! :grouphug:
CayoKay 10-20-2008 01:33 PM
okay, kiddies!
we drove, and parked down at the bottom of our hill, and waded through the expanded river to the grocery store...
I bought FOUR pkgs of TP, (Angel Soft, for those of you TP fanatics, lol!)
the store's entrance is three sandbags high, with planks ramped to walk up and back down.
mi esposo started makin' PIRATE jokes, about walkin' the plank.
:D
and we ran into lots of friends, seems half the village is out, lined up at the river, just watching in awe...
here's our main highway, filled with onlookers (photo by my guest, DG):
http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...oodcrap010.jpg
this is the EDGE of the flooding, which has cut us off from the world...
SandyC 10-20-2008 01:58 PM
Frank's been admitted into the hospital. They are keeping him several days. I'll hear from Deb later and update. Please keep them in your prayers.
DM 10-20-2008 02:29 PM
Keeping you in my prayers Frank!
PS: Got gas here for $2.39 WOOHOO~ I feel downright giddy!!!
Glad you got TP, Kay!! Everything else seems secondary as long as there's plenty of TP in the house, doesn't it?! :D
SandyC 10-20-2008 06:49 PM
whoo hoo !! on getting the day off for the GTG !!
and yeah, it's raining and raining still...
yep, I'm up on a hill (high!) but it's a far cry from dry.
I just came back in from the evening critter-feeding-extravaganza, and the ground is thoroughly saturated.
the duckies appeared to be afraid of my umbrella, so I closed it, and stood under a huge mango tree to stay semi-dry while I passed out the food...
just when I had over a hundred ducks at my feet gobbling cabbage and whole corn, my auto-open umbrella SPRANG open, and the entire flock FLED into the pond, like... WHOOOOOSH !!
anyway, got everybody done, the geese, the chickies, the guinea pigs, the rabbits, the turkeys, slip-sliding the whole way...and oh, 'm sooooooooooooo tired!
oh,I feel another song coming on:
Slip sliding away,
Slip sliding away
You know the nearer your destination,
The more you slip sliding away
hubby's out milking Leeloo and Lilah now, and dinner is simmering on the stove...
that's your silly-goose update from Darwin Farm, on an "island" deep in the rainforest, in the RAIN !!
:grouphug:
FinLady 10-20-2008 10:00 PM
Deb and Frank, :hug::hug: Ugh! 24 hours to possibly get a fan? I know I'd have my hubby sneak in one of those little handheld ones, lol. Sorry to hear about how frustrating it's been. :hug:
Sarah, hope this doc can help you out and at least point you in the right direction. :hug:
Wiz, glad to hear you'll be able to go to the GTG.
Kay, LOL. Your ducks are cute for being scared of the umbrella. Kinda like my kitties are afraid of my mops and brooms. Never could figure that one out. :confused: The vaccum cleaner makes sense since it makes noise, lol.
~~~~~~~~~

Hope everyone's having a good evening. Ordered pizza for dinner and took a nap. Other than that, not much else going on.
