I had to jump back on to see what everyone was doing!! We're fixing to eat dinner in about a half hour.......I am starved.....didn't eat anything today yet. My sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole are in the oven right now.....turkey is done, dressing is done, macaroni and cheese is done. Just need to slice the turkey and get the orange jello/coolwhip whatever it is out of the fridge. I always forget to put the cranberry relish on the table, too...do it every year. Why is that?? Maybe this year I'll remember.
Hope everyone bought plenty of Alka Seltzer and Tums.....I get the feeling we're all gonna need them!! :p |
lol you are not the only one Kelly I do that too, I still remember the one year my mom had her mom and inlaws and a friend who was inbetween marriages and us kids and as always I helped her thats how I learned how to cook via mom, well we had turkey, baked yams, candied yams, cream corn, cream peas, bicuits, stuffing, cranberrys, butter, place settings, the table looked grand and then I asked my mom where she was going to put the mashed potatoes, to which she replied oh SH** lol yep oops forgot to make them so in three pans with lids and small small cubed potatoe pieces me and her made mashed potatoes, and they hit the table in 12 minutes, yet another rabbit out of the hat

I have to slice, arrange on plate, and chill the canned cranberry sauce. that's all we could find here in the jungle, but we're thankful. :D |

:confused::eek: oh yeah! I remember... y'all are from the south... they do that there, don't they? a big dinner in the middle of the day... ours isn't for 6 more hours. lots of time to goof off, and relax. :grouphug: |
Oh my goodness.......I cannot believe how much food we had for just four people!! Everyone is either on the couch or in a chair......lying around like a bunch of beached whales........they'll all be asleep before too long. Think I'll go take a nap, too. Both cats are on my bed sleeping....they had their little plate of turkey and they're all full and doped up.
We're so blessed to be able to have such good food....and plenty of it. |
Just passing through on the way to my nap. We ate around 1. I never stuff the turkey just myself. Everything was good. I'll pick the remaining meat off the bones after my nap and clean up my mess. Bed awaits... Happy feast day everyone. Don't forget to count your blessings.

happy thanksgiving everyone peace |
We had a nice time at DH's nephew's house. It was our first time there, he just moved in a few months ago.
He did pretty good planning a whole dinner (single, divorced man). It was about two hours late to eat but there were lots of snacks to carry us through. His turkey, ham, stuffing, potatoes and gravy were delicious. My pies and cheesecake turned out well and they kept all the leftovers (yay!) It was great seeing everyone, about 30 people turned out. I mentioned we could have Christmas at our house and in the same sentence said that DH will help me clean the house. He just nodded. :winky: Frank, sorry to hear about your son going to Kuwait, but thank God it isn't Iraq or Afghanistan. I hope he'll be safe. I'll remember him in my prayers. |
I had a nice time at my friend's house. I have spent the last few Thanksgivings with her and her family. Dinner was great -- except my sweet potato casserole. I have never made it before; it was from a recipe given to me by my sister and it is usually really yummy. Well the pecan, brown sugar topping was good, but the potatoes were extremely salty. If they had tried them on Top Chef, they would have been spitting them out.
I swear that I followed the recipe, but I obviously put in too much salt or did not write down the directions correctly. I have had it with following recipes. I have screwed up recipes two days in a row. So I am going back to cooking what I know without using any recipes. Or better yet -- ordering out! Frank, I am sorry to hear that your son is being deployed. Wiz, Kudos to you for stating that your hubby is going to help you clean the house. Tomorrow, I plan on grading some papers, making a few bracelets, and going to see the movie australia. Hope you all have a good day and a good nights sleep. Or are you all still taking your after dinner naps?;) |
