it's only 2 times a week, Tuesday and Friday wholesale, critter-food stuff.

and Saturdays are for our regular groceries and produce.

and I only need the BIG bag of repollo every 2 weeks or so.

the wholesale guy has STRAPPING young men who HEFT the sack onto their shoulders, and tote it to our truck.

when we get home, we open the sack right in the truck bed, divide it up into wooden crates, and bring it to the porch piecemeal, lol, we're both too old to lift the whole thing.

the early morning is *such* a blessed time in the jungle, so quiet, cool and dark...

and then...

one by one, the birds start to sing, the parrots, the parakeets, the grackles, the kiskidees, the social flycatchers, and the redheaded woodpeckers join in, until there's an AMAZING dawn chorus going on.

and then the glorious sun rises, and mist begins to lift in streaming coils, and the sky turns rosy pink streaked with purples...

the best part is, I'm almost NORMAL then, because it's so cool in the early mornings...

I consider each dawn a gift from God, and praise Him and His works, glad to be alive, and doing something that makes me happy.

if it rains, no big deal, I have a folding umbrella in my little backpack purse, and besides, it's usually a short rain, and everything dries right up.

and DH carries the BIG umbrella (it lives behind the truck seat), if the skies decide to drench-pour.

:D

it beats the commute ANY ol' day, honey!

Kay, you really should write a book about your life in the jungle. You have such a wonderful way with words.....I feel like I'm standing there at the back of your truck listening to the birds as I'm reading.

That would be such an interesting read.....dealing with MS, moving to the jungle and all the interesting things you've experienced there. And you could include your NT friends....and your cousin, too!! :D

I just love reading your posts...makes me feel like I'm "there"! :)

Kell, after I started on SSDI, there were a LOT more handmade and homemade gifts... good thing I was a Girl Scout, and learned lots of crafty and cooking skills and ideas, eh?

an inexpensive roll of pretty Contact Paper, a pair of scissors, and a few leftover cans and odds 'n' ends, and voila, a lovely desk set, pencil holders, trays, clutter collectors, and blotter.

fabric scraps, sea shells, pine cones, and wood scraps, plus glue, and here's a cute table centerpiece!

it's time for scavenging, and baking, and putting on the ol' thinking cap...

when one has more time than $$, the gifts get more personalized and special.

or at least, so I tell myself.

;):winky:;)

Hi everyone! Where has the morning gone? I made 6 bracelets this morning. They seem to take me a lot longer than they use to, and all I am doing is choosing beads and stringing them. Sheez! I am planning on finishing a book that I have been reading now, and then maybe I will do some grading or take a nap. Hmmm. I wonder which one I will choose? I am going to go see a movie later. (Australia). It is 3 hours long. I hope I can handle sitting for that long.

Hope you all are having a good day.

Kay, Do you have any pictures of these strapping young men?;)

Mm.mmmm, Kay, you make it sound absolutely delicious down there, if ya know what I mean...
I second the motion...write a book...with pix...you have an amazing life, and I love reading your entries. My DH and joke that when he retires we're going to build a shack on Aruba...maybe Belize would be better...

Got a phone call from the insurance co that handles our meds...they're okaying the Copaxone, and will ship it next week...so it's a go...once I get the syringes, I need to call and set up a one time nurse visit to show how to shoot up...thank God they okayed it...I was nervous...

I'm going to take a nap...only had 3 hrs sleep. shopping was crazy...the hardware store was jammed, for goodness' sake!! We didn't get any xmas gifts...only stuff my DH wanted...

Hey all,
Happy belated Turkey day..and Happy Black Friday...

Well, I worked 4am-1pm... we opened at 5am..(since a McD inside a Walmart with black friday specials) we had GREAT sales too..hit records for the day too...breakfast was huge...but with my assistant and I working it..it went very smooth. WE both wore Santa hats...and had some fun.

I just read about a Walmart in NY somewhere..where a man working got so injured from crowd rush into the doors at5am for their sales..he died hour or so after at hospital....WOW...what spirit and joy...those holiday shoppers have...ugggg

well took a nap...good deep one..you know when you wake at 5pm...a bit dark outside..and you are wondering if morning of next day or what....!!

feeling ok, hugssss,sarah

SandyC 11-28-2008 05:41 PM

Sarah, not only did the Walmart worker pass away but a woman lost her baby from being trampled as well. The poor thing had to be told she miscarried. I am so glad I opt out of shopping on this day. I couldn't sleep at night if I were involved with that kind of behavior. They should all be ashamed.

I hope the ones responsible (the retailers) are charged with the crime. It's absolutely ridiculous how people act....like they're gonna quit making TV's or whatever stupid item it is they think they need to purchase so badly. I won't take part in it. Retailers have a responsibility to make sure that their employees are safe. If that means only letting a certain number of people into the store at a time or passing out numbers before the store opens then so be it. I hope the families sue the everlovin' pants off them!

FranksAngel 11-28-2008 06:32 PM

the stampeed started when the security employee went to the door ... got the first door unlocked ... and 2 customers shoved through while he was trying to unlock the 2nd door ... the 2000 people outside then stormed the doors busting through the second still locked door and trampled the employee and the preg. shopper (i thought she and baby were ok ... that's what i thought the news report said ... i could be wrong) they were saying these people were standing outside the walmart since 10 pm thursday night .... with that many people outside waiting i am wondering why cops were not there to supervise the entrance into the store proir to it opening at 5 am .... and the people who stampeeded the store REFUSED to leave when they were told the store was closing due to the death ....
