I have developed the habit of stopping at McDonalds in the morning and getting a hash brown and sausage biscuit for breakfast. I don't want to do that anymore. I don't need all that fat in my diet plus I can save money if I fix my own meal.
Here are the problems: 1. I don't and can't get up early enough to fix a meal and eat it before I go to work. 2. I hate breakfast food. I need to find something I can take to work with me. I have a microwave at work so I can heat things. There is also a toaster. I'm stumped for ideas as to what to take. Any suggestions? |

I take grapes or an orange or a pear to work and also have one of those fruit bars.
Sometimes I even eat the fruit... When I'm hungry, the cafeteria opens at 7 am - sausage gravy over biscuits! A can of ravioli or chili is kinda handy to have around too. Tom |

I buy Jimmy Dean turkey sausage/egg white/english muffin combo at Sam's Club. They have a 12 count package and total cost for me is less than making them from scratch. They are low fat and under 300 calories. And it's way cheaper than getting them from the corner quick stop! I saw a 4 count package of them in the freezer section at Walmart...a tad more expensive, but still cheaper than buying at the quick stop.

Nutritionally, not sure about anything, but kbow a sausage, croissant has LOTS of fat. Good for you changing your habits.
-toaster Strudel -Eggos Muggins -English muffin with egg and cheese - egg sandwich Sausage and bacon (while good ONCE in awhile) are evil!!!!!!!!!! I am not a great eater, but know this.

knittenkitten, you don't have to have "breakfast foods" for breakfast. I have been known to have fish, a salad or chicken for breakfast.
This morning my breakfast was yogurt and trail mix (low sodium). There are a lot of fast and easy things you can eat before leaving or take with you. If you like Bananas: slice length wise, spread peanut butter on each half and sprinkle grape nuts cereal on it. I also like smoothies...throw everything in a blender, pour into a travel mug and go. You might try fixing something up at night so you can grab it and go in the morning.

If you like PB&J try putting it between two whole grain Eggo waffles. Yummy!
Also, sandwiches are easy to make and good for you. Turkey or chicken breast, lettuce, tomato and maybe a slice or two of pre-cooked bacon on whole wheat bread. Bagles (from home) with cheese and lean turkey or chicken with a light spread of veggie cream cheese is really good. I like to eat non-traditional things for breakfast....like leftover pizza or leftovers from the previous night's supper. I only like breakfast foods if I'm going out to eat. You can buy the same kind of hash browns you get at a fast food place at the grocery store and fix them at home. A couple of sessions in the toaster and they're done. Now I'm hungry and I wasn't before replying to this thread! ![]()

I agree with Tom, sausage gravy over biscuits, as long as they are nice fluffy biscuits, not the hockey puck kind. But then I don't care about calories.
