I have had 4 normal/negative MRI's, including an MRI/MRA. I have also had a normal SPECT. But, my NeuroPsych Assessments (2, 6 years apart) show that I have serious memory and visual and audio processing deficits. I had 2 qEEG's that showed serious waveform imbalances.

When I was 16, I had an EEG in the morning and had an absence seizure that evening. The EEG was inconclusive, no seizure activity.

Tests and imaging just help the doctors understand your symptoms. Lack of a positive result does not mean you don't have anything wrong. A normal result is also called a negative result since there was a negative finding of abnormalities.

Don't get hung up on the 'normal' results. Your symptoms are real.

Has your wife viewed the 'You Look Great' YouTube video series ? It would help her understand you more. It is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9Xso...ature=youtu.be

My best to you.

My best to you.

I totally understand, it's like...just let the MRI show something so people believe me, most just think something would show up and if it hasn't everything is fine, but as Mark says his tests were normal too.

Go online and do some research about MRI's not showing certain things, it's as clear as day.

I would think your cognitive therapist knows what she's talking about so that's a big deal, a Dr can listen to her too. Can she send her report/notes to any Dr/Neuro? I think that would help.

The pounding headaches( I have one today but is finally subsiding after 6 hours) the foggyness, confusion, memory loss takes a toll, it's just finding that right Dr to find out what's going on.

Complex migraine's are similar to seizures but from what you describe it doesn't sound like that.

The imatrex is only 9 pills. Pharmacist says its extremely potent and to be careful with it. Not sure what 9 pills will do but I guess we will see if it helps.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE SOMEWHAT GOING DOWN THE SAME PATH i HAVE BEEN ON WITH SOME DIFFERENCES. THE IMATREX IS A MIGRAINE RESCUE MEDICINE - NOT INTENDED FOR EVERYDAY OR EVERY OTHER DAY USE. i USE A SIMILAR DRUG AND IT IS LIMITED TO 9 DOSES PER MONTH. tHE ELAVIL YOU ARE ON IF SUPPOSED TO BE MORE FOR DAILY HEADACHES WHEN PRESCRIBED BY A NEUROLOGIST VS DEPRESSION BUT THE INS COMPANIES LOVE THE CONFLICT AND WILL TAUNT YOU WITH IT IF YOU CATCH MY DRIFT. i HAVE BEEN IN PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR 2+ YEARS AND STILL dx WITH PCS. IT IS SOMETIMES THE ONLY DX THAT COVERS EVERYTHING YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. I HAVE SEVERE CERVICAL CONDITION IN ADDITION TO MY HEAD INJURY SO THAT ADDS TO THE COMPLEXITY OF OVER ALL SYMPTOMOLOGY BECASUE HEADACHES, PAIN AND SLEEP ARE ALL IMPAIRED CAUSING A CHAIN OF CONTINUED COGNITIVE ISSUES AND SO ON. KEEP IN MIND CONCUSSIONS DO LEAD TO DEPRESSION WHICH LEADS TO OTHER NEGS. PLEASE GET YOU NECK THOROUGHLY CHECKED OUT ONLY SEE A NEUROLOGIST FOR HEADACHES NOT THE PCS AND FIND A GOOD NEUROLPSYCOLOGIST WHO STUDIES THE BRAIN AND KNOWS MORE ABOUT PCS THAN MOST NEUROLOGIST ABOUT PCS.
I BELIEVE FOR YOU THIS WAS A WORK\CAR INJURY SO LITIGATION JUST MAKES EVERYTHING MUCH WORSE BECAUSE INS THINKS IT ALL ABOUT THE MONEY ITS ALL ABOUT GETTING TO THE ROOT OF ALL YOUR PROBLEMS SO YOU CAN HEA BUT THREY GET IT TWISTED BECAUSE OF A FEW BAD APPLES. NO ONE I KNOW WOULD EVER TRADE WHAT i GO THEOUGH NOW FOR WHAT I AM LEFT WITH.

So, how would I go about getting someone else to read my MRI. Ive seen the pictures of it, as well as a friend who is an er nurse who also saw them. Granted neither of us are radiologist, but she has no clue why nothing was written down about some of the stuff she saw, without me saying anything, in the mri. She screencapped a few pictures to show the stuff she was talking about. She even saw a few things I did not see.

Anyone know how I could go about this?

Also in the written report, it just says for History : Headaches and postcuncussion syndrome.

Doesnt mention seizures at all. So does that mean they wouldnt look for that or am I just driving myself nuts. I just dont trust it because its outsourced from the hospital.

The report says:
Stand sequences are compared with the 10 January 2014 CT of head. There is no finding to suggest hemmorrhage, infraction, mass effect or shift of the midline structure, the ventricles appear normal. There is asymmetric dominance of the left vertebral artery, a normal variant, but the basilar vascular flow voids are otherwise unremarkable. Minimal mucoperiosteal thickening is seen within the maxillary and ethmoid sinuses. There is stable hypopneumatization of the left mastoid air cells. the skull base and visualized nasopharynx are otherwise unremarkable
Impression : No intracranial finding to explain the patients symptoms.

kev,

I don't think your history of seizures being noted would make any difference in the MRI read. The images you are seeing were not ignored by the radiologist. There must be a normal explanation for them.

I think you are causing yourself extra anxiety by focusing on the MRI.

Try to keep in mind that concussion injuries are usually microscopic. They are too small to show up on a normal MRI.
