Mayo

I have been working for over a year to lose weight.

No specific diet has worked. So with the help of mediformin
because for me it helps me lose weight. I watch the sweets
and the other bad type foods I eat.

I really am doing just what I can.

Donna:grouphug::hug:

So just start your work on losing or maintaining at first tomorrow. Also
make sure you do some exercise.

it's about being in the right place

Dear Majo,

Some people have to get their head and emotions in the right place before they can be successful at weight loss.

Other people can make changes to their food plan like adding more veggies and fruits and then let the mental and emotional changes follow later.

Thank you so much for your posts, tips and words my friends

I felt so bad... I mean, I knew I was fat, I have had weight issues all my life, but this time I feel I have reached the bottom line...

Bizi, I will check those on-line diets you told me !!

Donna, I take metformin too, but, I havent seen any effect :( (yet)

Ginnie, please, give me all the tips you have !! I need them all !! And I have a question about the apples... should I eat them even when Im not hungry ? I mean, are they like the water, that helps loosing weight ?? or should I eat them instead of junk food if I feel hungry but should not eat them if I need those calories for something else ?

You are right Mari... I think my mental issues have had a great impact in my weight all my life one way or the other... :( Oh well...

Have a peaceful sunday everyone and thank you so much !

Others may not like this suggestion but it really works for weight loss.
Low carb diet. HIgh protein diet. The atkins diet.
The idea is that you are more satisfied eating proteins, they take longer to digest and lower your blood sugars and avoid insulin spikes from high glucose loads.
There are high protein shakes and bars that you can buy to satisfy your sweet craving, better to just avoid them though as they are expensive. maybe use them for an occasional treat.
Eat meat, eggs, fish, cheese including cream cheese, olive oil, all veggies, except starchy ones like potatoes, corn, peas, berries in moderation.Nuts and seed in moderation.

breakfast:
3 egg omelet with broccoli and cheese,
1 cup strawberries or cup of tomato juice
lunch:
chef salad mixed greens with cut up turkey and ham and cheese and other veggies with regular ranch salad dressing or olive oil and vinegar, toasted sunflower seeds. 1/4 cantelope.
Dinner:
sauteed garlic, stir fry chicken and vegetables,(squash, green onions, celery, green peppers, carrots) Half cup cottage cheese and 1/2 cup blueberries cover with half and half and splenda.
snack:
1/4 cup almonds, 2 dark chocolate kisses.
(((((HUGS))))

suggest you take calcium and multi vitamin and stool softener
There is a high fiber lower carb bread to use for sandwiches. Natures own makes it. When counting carbs, look at your labels they will tell you how many carbs per serving, you get to subtract the fiber carbs from that number.
Shoot for less than 60 carbs a day. they sell carb counting books with food items until you learn what you can eat and not worry about counting carbs.

just a suggestion of course

Hi Bluemajo

I just ate my main meal of the day. Left over pot roast, potatoe, carrots, pat of butter, I wanted something else, so I ate half an orange cut up, and half an apple cut up. I ate dried mango from sunsweet this a.m. with my coffee. My portion of dinner was not big. I may go back later this evening for more. I do tend to eat more smaller meals throughout the day, rather than big huge meals where you feel bloated. I never get super hungry if I can help it. On portion, less than card deck size of meat, one whole carrot and one potatoe, with the butter, yes gravy, but made with cream of musroom soup and bullion cube, not fat, flour and milk.
One trick is to eat some apple before a meal. It takes the edge off your hunger. Try smaller meal portions and wait 20 minutes or so before going for more. Sometimes you can be satisfied with less if you just wait a little bit. Go ahead and have more if you are truely still hungry. Eat slower too. I used to inhaled my food, ate fast all the time. That was the biggest change I think.
Keep writing me as you try some of this stuff, let me know how it works for you. I can tell you how I do it, like this post. Keep in touch, Let me know what you are eating. I need to drop this gained weight, so lets do this 10 pounds together! ginnie
ps. it will be OK, you can do this!

About apples

I do try to eat some apple thoughout the day. I keep a whole one cut up in the fridge and go for a wedge anytime I feel like snaking, can even put some wedge of cheese on it. apple and cheese like thin slice of sharp chedder is good. This seems to keep my appetite in check.

My doctor also sent me to a diabetic program. And I had a nutritionist
give me a idea of what kind of foods I should try eating. For my
diabetis. It was also suggested that I do I believe a 1500 calorie
a day diet.

I don't exactly do that anymore.

it is official, I am drinking my last beer right now....too many calories 300 in(and I don't know how many carbs but alot I am sure) one beer that I like. I am throwing out all of the left over candy from christmas...I start my diet tomorrow.
low carb for me.
wish me luck.
