My insurance gal just called me again. The remotes and chargers WILL fall under my homeowner's ins. policy's "personal property" section and my deductible will apply. They cannot put the remotes/chargers on a rider, or under a separate policy, as in insuring one's expensive jewelry. So looks like no added cost there, which is good.
What's funny is that she said she was told that if my dog chews them, it's not covered but if the neighbor's dog chews them it IS covered. She said that if it's an accidental fall then it is covered, but if I get mad and throw it and damage it, it is NOT covered. So, I just had to ask her....what if I get mad and throw it at the neighbor's dog?? She laughed and said it would not be covered. They will cover if it damaged (and if it falls in the loo...yeah ) but not if it's a malfunction problem. That, they say, is to be covered by Bost. Scientific. So I will have to seriously consider buying Bost. Scientific's extended warranty after the first year's free warranty runs out. Hope this helps. |

Yes it should be on your home insurance, same as any other piece of equipment that it in your house under contents. like for instance the REMOTE FOR TV, or the REMOTE FOR THE DVD player......I think its the fact that once we say its a 'medical' remote etc it kinda sents them off running in the opposite direction! Glad that its not too expensive for you Fiona, thats the last thing you need now. BTW did you have to contribute to either of your systems? do I recall you saying you did? I spoke with a lady in the hospital last week and she was told she would have to give €10k (approx $12.5k) towards her system a shortfall on her insurance policy, thankfully I didnt have to pay any! phew!!!! |

FIONA! Your witt never ceases to amaze me!
This thread has me completely intrigued.......SO....... I have consulted with my personal canine detective agency...... BECAUSE, think of THIS scenerio! ........ Let's just say Fiona .......DROPS one of her controllers in the loo........ has her DOG retrieve it for her....and HER dog chews on it a bit.....which of course would make Fiona VERY angry.....so, she throws the controller at HER dog......but then quickly comes to her senses......and remembers her policy small print......so, she runs out into her yard and throws the remote at the NEIGHBORS dog, who....of course thinks she is playing 'fetch'....and the neighbors Dog....thus CHEWS on the remote...... So THIS brings to the table a reason to have the canine detecive agency on board......and believe me, hiring one of these is probably not cheap....... so.......maybe ?.....maybe she should have just left the damn thing in the loo. But what if Fiona were at her neighbors house and it fell in her NEIGHBOR's LOO!! omg.....!! I'd hate to be the sorry insurance adjuster who has to be the one on the scene trying to make a CASE out of this!! |

You're so funny, Rae. Hopefully the ins. gal won't have to deal with such a wild scenario, should I ever have to file a claim
I'm hoping the adjustor she was getting her info. from was thinking straight and giving her correct information...he was off work, at home, dealing with his problem septic system...so he was up to his hiney in "you know what". Hey, I wonder if that would be another legit. way to lose my remote...it fell in the septic tank. Of course, if it falls in my loo, it ends up in the septic tank anyhow. Don't think I'd go washing that off It begs the question, if it falls in the loo, does the insurance company want to see the "damaged goods"? |

And I thought Charles Schulz had Charlie Brown hitting his head on a tree for some reason. Maybe that was why Lucy was always getting the 5 cents for psych consultation.
Maybe we need to have these legally classified as some artificial life form [you know, since we name them and all] and seek inclusion of them as family members under our health insurance...... Oh, Good Grief Mark56 PJ |
