Renee-I just had hardwoods installed this week. My worst fear is that something will happen to muck them up before we move! As they were leaving today, I asked them about what would happen if we had a damaged board (as if my darlings would ever think of puking on my new floors....). He said that they can just pull out a single board and replace it. Hopefully your landlord has a few extra boards leftover.
|
Hey all! Just popping in to say hello! Carolyn, I love your studio and I want one now. I better get busy. Renee, sorry about the floors. I hope your housekeeper can fix it. I hope everyone is having a good day.
I am planning for more snow today. Gosh, will it ever end? At least it's only 3 inches. Mom saw the neurosurgeon today and she needs to see an eye doctor. I tried to explain that this can be claimed on her medical rather than vision since it's from the surgery but she doesn't understand what I mean. He told her she can go home and be by herself now but can't drive for 4 more weeks. She is not a happy camper. |
Well, I made it back home from Austin. I am already missing my niece and the warm weather. Anya (my 2 year old niece) woke her parents up at 4:00 a.m. to ask where Aunt Barbara was. She also wanted to know if it was dark in Illinois and if I was playing with my toys. She tole me on the phone last night that she missed me and that she loved me. AHHH!
Well I am off to the doctors in a little while. I am still fighting this crud (bronchitis ...) and I am going to ask for a referral to see a dermatologist for a mole scan. All of these negative posts about tysabri lately are really starting to stress me out. (melanoma and now liver damage) I am also dealing with a little eye pain and floaters in one eye. I know I should call my neurologist, but I also know he will not be back in the office until Tuesday. I am scheduled for my next tysabri infusion next Wednesday. I hope everyone is doing well. I was going to try to catch up with everyone by reading all of the posts I missed, but I do not have the energy to do so at this point. |
Barb welcome back! I know you enjoyed your niece but are ready to be rid of the crud!
I think the whole melanoma thing with TY is being blown out of proportion...it was two cases who coincidentally happened in the same place,we should all be observant of any skin changes but my bets are that these women would have had melanoma either way. As for the liver damage we all know it is a side effect of any of the meds we take...yet another reason to be vigilant about having our labs done! |
oooooh oooooh ooooooooooh !!!
here's some pix for the kiddies lookin' over your shoulders! check these out! yesterday, my friend went to the Belize Zoo (which has only "rescue" animals, and animals from movie-making that couldn't be released back into the wild) some of the pix he just sent me: http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/5598/dsc2837ec9hl6.jpg JAGUAR http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4...baruvs3mc7.jpg JABIRU http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/30/harpydh6zt7.jpg HARPY EAGLE wow, I take photos that good in my DREAMS !! |
Cool pixs! Carolyn, I received your postcard today. Thank You!!!
|
another one, here's an Ocelot:
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/4...olotll8jl2.jpg Barb, your little Anya sounds adorable... hope you're feeling better soon. NaeNae, one of the kids spilled something, and cleaned up up, but didn't realize the sofa legs were wet, maybe? argh! I hated hated hated living in rentals with small children... it makes one so TENSE! TK: abstract, lol, I know whatcha mean! hope it gets fixed to your satisfaction... San: remote-control management of ailing parental units is difficult... especially after something so serious, and with her cognitive functioning possibly impaired... is there anyone who lives closer that can do the (admittedly horrendous) insurance paperwork FOR her? :grouphug: |

On the snow thing, we're getting another 7 inches or so Friday night into Saturday. I am soooo ready for spring! Renee, I know there is something you can do with baking soda on black rings on the floor. I just have to find it in my book of household remedies for you! On another note. I checked my bank account this afternoon and I am overdrafted on my account. Now how the heck did that happen:eek: Grrrrr. It was only by $6, but they are charging me an extra $25 for the overdraft. Crap:mad:!!! Carolyn  |
Sandy, Sorry to hear that your mom is still having some issues after surgery, but hope everything gets better soon.
Barb, Awww, you're neice is so sweet. I'm glad you had a chance to visit with her. Sorry to hear you're still not feeling well. Hope it clears up soon. Kay, thanks for the pics as always. Those are some nice animals. It's rather interesting that the zoo is mainly for rescue animals. Carolyn, Ugh, I hate it when overdrafts happen. Hope that everything's going well besides that. ~~~~ Trying to wake up without coffee this morning. Not that easy to do, LOL. Hmm, maybe addicted? :D It's a snowing again, so it's gonna be a fun day. It's supposed to warm up and change to sleet and rain, then back to snow. Yippee. :) Hope everyone has a great day today. :) |
Kay - Those are great pictures. Thanks.
Carolyn - I hate it when I make those calculation errors. They cost too much. Fin - Good luck today. I'll be thinking of you. Barb - How are you doing today? I do hope you start feeling better soon. Renee - Thanks for the information. I have to get blood tests regularly too. As much as it is a pain in the neck, I understand why. I am on Copaxone which I was under the impression that it didn't mess up you liver. But somewhere at the other place I read that it can. YIKES!!!! Sandy - Saying a prayer for your mom. I can sympathize with her though. It would be hard on me if they said you can go home but you can't drive. What the, heck. There is no way I could be housebound like that and so dependent on others. Maybe your aunt could go stay with your mom for a bit? That way your mom will be home, which would be better for healing, and your aunt is there to help out. Just an idea. Don't know the whole situation so it may not be feasible. Greta - You are so right. Renting with little ones is so stressful. You panic about everything. What always amazes me is that they put carpet in the dining area. This doesn't make sense when you have kids and/or messy eaters. After we moved from the townhouse, I rented an apartment that did have vinyl flooring in the dining area. It was great. ~~~~ Didn't touch the painting yesterday. I am still thinking of how to "fix" the mistake. I did, however, work on the painting for my brother. It is almost done I just need to add a few small details and create more movement in it. You know, the whole Z thing. I took down one of the pictures on my wall and hung the painting up. I keep sitting on the couch, closing my eyes, then opening them to see where my eyes "go." DD's thought I was nuts until I had them do it with a few pictures in the house as well as the painting. Then they understood. Hope everyone has a good day. |
Well thankfully the landlord does not seem as stressed as I do about the floors, and did tell me to start with the cheapest method of repair first, God love him LOL! Unfortunately some of the places I have called have a $450 dollar minimum! It might be easier not to mention cheaper to just pull up the boards and replace them...gonna have to check into that! I am extremely cog foggy today worse than usual I think the greatness I was feeling off of the Rebif has worn off and now I am getting the true effects of my MonSter...it is very unsettling, I feel like I'm stoned or tripping...BTW i'm not! LOL

Sharon is more at home in the jungle than most of us are in our mother's kitchen. An American by birth, she's spent the past quarter century in the raw tropical landscape of Central America. In the fall of 1982 she left the United States to work as an assistant on a nature documentary being filmed in Belize. At the end of the shoot, the director left her in possession of a jaguar, two macaws, a ten-foot boa constrictor, and seventeen other animals. "Once you domesticate wild animals, they can't care for themselves in the wild," Sharon told me. "If you turn them out they'll starve." So she painted a sign that said Belize Zoo and stuck it beside the lonely road that runs from Belize City to the Guatemalan border. People came. Today the zoo exhibits 125 individual animals and hosts more than seventy thousand visitors every year — more than one-quarter of Belize's entire population. It is the country's most visited tourist attraction and one of the region's most prestigious scientific research stations. Belizean children idolize Sharon Matola. She invites them to the zoo and holds a tarantula in her palm, wraps a boa around her leg, and speaks to April the tapir as her friend. In the eyes of children she lives a magical life, padding through her own zoo like Willy Wonka strolling the chocolate factory floor. Sharon often buzzes through the countryside on a Kawasaki 650 motorcycle, and when children see her coming they jump and wave and shout her name: Zoo Lady! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/17/bo...nt&oref=slogin  |

mi esposo couldn't wait that long. will just keep toes crossed. :D |
Awesome pics Cayo, with everything going on with me and my mom right now, I would like to just get away to a new a place. Just would need to know how handicapped accessible that place is.
|
Hey all. Thanks for the well wishes on mom. The stubborn woman went home today to live alone. She is really pushing our buttons in the bad mood arena. We are trying hard to understand. My cousin Bonnie spent the day with her yesterday and said she was ready to choke mom by the end of the day...haha. She is really mad that she cannot drive. She thought she would just pop back to normal after the surgery. UGH. Anyway, she also wants her car and my sister is bringing it to her tomorrow minus the keys. Man, this is going to be a long ride. I hope she can go back to work by the end of March because my bank is starting to get a dent. I told my sister that my oldest brother is next in the financial area. lol My bills were over huge this month after that trip. Not to mention my credit card tried to charge me a late fee when I paid them. They took it off. I would have canceled them if they didn't.

just in case your mom has a SPARE KEY stashed somewheres... just in case... ya know what I mean? 'cause it sounds like Mom's gettin' a tad impatient there. :o |
Thanks everyone! I am feeling a bit better today -- less coughing. And my voice is about 75% better. Now I get to see my opthamologist on Monday regarding eye pain and floaters.
Went out with some friends for lunch. I am going to see "Definitely, Maybe "tomorrow. I have not been to a movie in awhile. Has anyone seen it? I also got "Real women have Curves" from Netflix today so I will probably watch it sometime this weekend. My good news: I feel like I am walking a little better. It has been gradual. I rarely use my cane at home and have been leaving it in my car when I do not have to do alot of walking. My gait is still not entirely normal, but I think there has been an improvement. So I am looking forward to ty #4 next Wednesday even with all of the recent warnings and my problems with my 2nd infusion. I do plan on asking about periodic bloodwork. It has not been part of the protocl with ty in the past. Sandy, Mom's can be really stubborn. My mom who is 79 just called to tell me she has shingles on her face. It has been bothering her for about a week, but would not go to the doctors until today. She lives in Ohio and I often feel guilty that I do not live closer to her. I also worry about her driving. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters and we all started depositing 150.00 each per month to her account in order to help her out a few months ago. She basically has been living on her social security and savings which is running out. I hope your mom is feeling better soon. My point in this long ramble is that maybe your siblings could share the financial responsibility. Sorry for the long ramble; I guess I am feeling chatty today:D I really need to get serious about my research project starting on Monday. Can I blame my procrastination on MS? |
Kay, she doesn't have a spare as far as we or she knows. She was freaking out before surgery that if any of us lost her key she would be without her car because it was the only one she had. Whew! lol
Barb, she is a stubborn one for sure. Jim and I have been giving her money for some time. I told Jim this morning that if she doesn't get better it would be cheaper to move her in with us. Seriously, it would be hard but we could do it if she needed to be with someone. I already passed the word that my older brother is up next for a deposit if needed. :D She did call me today and said she was sorry for being mean to me but that she is so frustrated by what is happening. I told her I understand but that since she can't do anything about it to try to relax. She then went on to tell me how her friend's kids visit everyday and how close they all are. Nice guilt trip huh? Gotta love that woman and I do! Where else did I get my own stubborness? lol |
Renee, Sorry to hear about the cog fog. Glad your landlord seems to be a cool person. Hope you can find something in a more reasonable price range for repair.
Sandy, LOL. I think we all know where our stubborn side comes from. Mine's from my mom too. Hope your mom can relax so she can feel better soon. Kay, Thanks for the story. It's so cool to hear about stuff like that. TK, Hope the paintings turn out ok. I have to admit, between you and Renee, I'm getting the itch again. :) Just need to find everything, LOL. I think it's awesome you are doing them. Barb, Glad you are starting to feel better and that you seem to have a gradual improvement. Hope things continue to be ok. ~~~~~~ Well, I updated on the thread I started in ye olde "stumble inn", but wanted to let you know that things seemed to go ok for the stress test. Walking wise, I was having a good day, so managed to do the treadmill instead of the medicine to get my heartrate up. They think I'm gonna be fine, but it's up to what the results show. I'll find out next week. Did crash big time when I came home. Closed my eyes to sunlight, and woke up to darkness, LOL. Still tired and kinda loopy, but so far so good. :D |
Happy to hear that you survived the stress test and impressed you did it on the treadmill. I hope you get good results!!!
|

Finny, I shudder to even *think* of getting on a treadmill!
I remember trying to join a clinical trial way back in the mid 90s. they had us walk up and down a hall until we couldn't go any more. I scored too high to be part of the trial... ah, the good ol' days! :D update on the wood-nymph hippie-chick au-naturel duck-nest in a tree-trunk: after I saw how hard our duck was working to make herself a natural-type nest, we decided to help her out a bit. first, Amelio cut some palm fronds: http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/1706/dscn4460bn4.jpg then, we gathered some sticks and branches... and we built a little shelter over the nest, so the duck won't have to sit in the rain. http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/904/dscn4456fs0.jpg Muscovy Ducks spend one to two weeks laying an egg every day... here's what she's laid so far: http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/2554/dscn4458dl8.jpg ducks sit on their nests for THIRTY FIVE days straight, with only two short "bathroom breaks" per day. during those breaks, they have to quickly find food, and get back to the nest, to keep the eggs warm. so... I've begun making daily corn & cabbage deliveries to the pond area, to make things easier for our hard-workin' lady. |
Hi all :) Just a quick drop in to the board today. Lots of stuff to do and warm weather heading our way for a few days. The cabin fever is getting to me, LOL :D
Hope everyone has a good day today. :) |
Me too! Just dropping in to say hey and then we are off for a shopping spree! Whoohoo, we'z buyin' sum meats today! No more take out...lol Then we'll slip on by to see Chris and Nik at college and check out some of the memorials.
|
Me, three ... been busy ... starting 2 new courses this week ... won't know about finals and grades until wednesday ...
working at getting caught up ... with everything ... |
Me, four. 72 degrees here so I went to an outlet mall that is about 30 miles away. Supposed to get snow and freezing rain on Tuesday. Bought some more outfits for my niece and a new pair of pajamas for me. When did PJ's become my favorite clothes?
|
Barb was wondering myself when no makeup and sweat suits became "fashionable" LOL
|
drawstring or elastic-waist cotton pants that pull down quickly for those "hurry up" days.
pull-over cotton shirts for quick-change artistry after the usual drink and food accidents. slip-on cotton canvas shoes, to avoid "fumbling with laces" moments. white cotton undies for easy bleaching and washing out of the inevitable stains. hair sheared into a pixie cut, wash & dry in 10 minutes... no make-up, hair gel or spray, no stockings, high heels or dressy clothes... yeppers, Kay's TOTALLY fashionable!! |
And forget about bra wearing!
|
LOL. You guys are funny. Unfortunately that is my wardrobe. I do miss my "old" wardrobe. I only wear jeans when I am going out. Then as soon as I get home it's back in to my cotton pj bottoms.:)
Kay - You are as fashionable as I am. Although, I do have long hair. It's easier for me. I don't have to get it cut all the time and I can just pull it up in a ponytail and it's done. Great pictures by the way. That is so cool that you guys helped her out a bit. Barb - Cotton pj bottoms are a staple in my wardrobe. The texture is great as my legs do freak out and they are great in the summer when it is so hot out. Renee - I just have to wear my bra. Although I hate it most the time, I just never know who's going to show up at my door. LOL. |
Quote:
C+ here, so... I wear sports bras with support. my favorite one for bad days has a ZIPPER, in the FRONT... sheer heaven. |
Quote:
btw: my hair was pretty long before the fire ants got my hands. in a fit of pique last November (couldn't brush, braid, or bun it, hands all blistered and swollen  ) so, I took my shears to it, and whacketty whack, whack whack! I haven't had hair this short since I was 3. :D |
Girls...my "girls" are a D cup...But I have had them lifted and tacked into place LOL! And I assure you there are few things still that get me to wear a bra...they cause really bad spasms for me. If I don't want the girls moving I just put on a firm cami and thats it and they make these cute little thingies you can put in a bra or cammi that cover the ummm headlights!
|
Bounce your boobies, get into the swing.
Bounce your boobies, the swing is everything. Makes no difference if they're big or small, As long as you - ooooh! - give 'em your all! (Rusty Warren) |
And this oldie but goodie........
We must! We must! We must increase our bust! The bigger the better, the tighter the sweater, The Boy's depend on us! Hubby thought I was insane when I told him we did that at camp! |
here's the version from my 7th grade gym class:
We must, we must, we must improve our bust For fear, for fear, we might lose our brassiere! :D |
LOL, I feel like a wandered into a page of "Are you there God, it's me, Margaret." :D
Have my cup of coffee in hand. Rethinking my life a lot lately. Trying to figure out where to go from here and what's really important to me. Happens to me every once in awhile. Today it's supposed to be warm, but temps are supposed to drop into the 30s tomorrow. Oy vay! Another swing in weather, LOL. But spring is coming - just not fast enough. LOL. |
Quote:
Certain bras will make the "HUG" unbearable so i have become picky about bras now too! I actually though to getting those cup things that you just use on the "girls." Seriously! Then I don't have to worry about the band. Even though I am a nearly B, I am getting older and gravity keeps pulling my bitty girls down. Poor things. |
as usual, I forgot to do any sort of update...
here I sit, hot herbal tea 'n' honey in hand, resting up, and uploading the photos from this morning's walkabout. fed and watered everyone, and set a trap for the egg-stealin' possum. the duck nest in the tree hollow has NINE eggs now, so there must be more than one duck "contributing" to the clutch. we're planning construction of an emergency hurricane animal shelter, vented eaves, half-underground, build of concrete blocks, and slab roof, with water trough and feeders... designing and costing it out now, in my sketchbook. listening to cheeps and peeps as GOSLINGS hatch in the incubator behind me... got one cracked all the way out, woke me up at 3 am makin' an unholy racket, and I've been up ever since! I held the lil darlin' wrapped in a clean towel, to warm and fluff her dry, as hubby prepped the brooder box with heat-lamp, wood-chip litter, water dish and cracked grain. got four more eggies with peck-holes, and another halfway out of the shell, makin' HEROIC efforts to get into the world... this is our first time with geese eggs... we're used to chickens and ducks which hatch out rather quickly. this time, the pecking, rocking and chirps have been going on for over 24 hours. we put half the eggs in the incubator, and left half with Mama Gwynneth in her cozy box over by the palm trees. it's only 10 am, and I need a nap already! :o:p:o |
