um, not hardly at all...

Belize is a 3rd world country, and barely has paved roads (half a dozen in the entire country so far), let alone sidewalks, or ramps or grab bars or elevators, or lifts, or accessible anything else.

that's why I was SOOOOOOO thrilled when the Mennonite grocery store got a scooter a few weeks back, it totally made my day!

I built my house to be all W/C accessible, with a wide gradual ramped entrance, and grab bars (four of 'em) in the lavatory.

These posts put a big smile on my face today. I prefer flannel pajamas bottoms to hang out in during the winter, but they are too hot to wear to bed. I am pretty much an old t shirt person then.

I am at the computer in my office at school and as usual putting off doing much work. I never use to be a procastinator.

Going to the optometrist today to see if he can figure out what is going on with my eyes. I'll probably end up with a referral to an opthomalogist. I am hoping that I can still get my tysabri infusion on Wednesday.

I have a retirement dinner to atend tonight, and the weather is supposed to turn nasty. They are forecasting freezing rain, sleet, and then 3 to 8 inches of snow. I want to go back to Austin!!!

OK -- I need to do some writing. Have a good day everyone!:D

SandyC 03-03-2008 03:02 PM

Hey all you bra talking women! I had a minor accident yesterday and everyone is OK. My fault, I backed into a college student. Yay for me! Her car was a dented up mess to begin with and now she's saying I damaged her car in places my car couldn't have touched. I spoke with State Farm and told them to investigate the cars because I think someone is trying to get a free repair for prior dents. The poor thing was even driving on a ticket.

I couldn't have been going more than 2 MPH since I was backing out. She was on my tail for sure but I was at fault. I just don't think my insurance company should pay for something I didn't do. She said I pushed in her grill, Ok, maybe. Then she said I dented her hood after only the cop pointed out a dent. Even the cop said she can't see how I hit her hood since my bumper would had to jump up to do it...lol Oh well, State farm will handle it. I have absolutely no damage to see or speak of. Hmmmm...you'd think I would if I dented her hood in huh?

Other than that, today I plan to relax a little. I had a panic attack last night out of nowhere. I popped a zanax and I am feeling better today. Wouldn't you know both of my kids were there when this happened? All that nagging about how to drive went right out the window! They laughed about it.

We did get to see all the memorials set up for the shooting victims and students affected by the shooting. It was quite surreal to see. Jim rode up to the actual doors of the lecture hall and said it was a little creepy to see where it happened. I know they pan to tear down the building but many of us think they should leave it up and let the students get back to normal. The governor gave 40 million to help take it down and rebuild. That is a lot of tax money, not to mention he's now indited for something else now. (rolling eyes)

Barb, I sure hope we don't get that much snow! YUCK. Where are you in Illinois? North, west, south east?

FinLady 03-03-2008 06:04 PM

Sandy, :hug: Sorry to hear about the minor fender bender. Glad everything's ok.

I wouldn't worry too much about your insurance claim. Speaking from experience, the adjusters in the big companies are usually pretty good at recreating what happened. LOL, they don't want to pay out anymore than you do.

Can you tell I'm a little cyncial since getting into the insurance biz? :D

barb02 03-03-2008 06:44 PM

Hi Sandy, Sorry to hear about the accident. Those darn college students:p Do you think seeing the memorials brought about your anxiety attack? I'm not sure I could handle it. I don't know what I think about the building being torn down. It does seem like a waste of tax dollars, but on the other hand I do not know if I could handle teaching in it or having my office there.

I live in east cental Illinois -- Charleston. It is about 45 miles south of Champaign. Now they are saying we may get a 1/2 inch of ice and then about 4 inches of snow on top if it. I would rather just have the snow. I am also supposed to get my hair highlighted tomorrow. I do not want to cancel that; the grey is beginning to show:eek:

My visit to the opthometrist went well; no sign of damage to the optic nerves. I do have a few tears in one eye that is causing floaters. Doctor was not sure what is causing the pain -- maybe a continuing sinus infection.

Now I am off to a retirement dinner. Hope the freezing rain holds off until I get home.

Thanks! It's nice to hear from someone who is in the biz. I seriously doubt they will let her get away with claiming more than necessary. I haven't heard from the investigator yet but I am sure I will.

well, once upon a time, (28 years ago) I had a little Volkswagon... and drove it through a flood (had to get to work, ya know? lol!)

I didn't know that my brakes were wet, and wouldn't WORK once I got on the freeway.... when traffic slowed down, I tried to brake, and NOTHING !!

so, I plowed into the back of a fancy-dancy Mercedes Turbo Diesel sportscar.

he had a low and shiny steel bumper, with nary a SCRATCH, but my whole FRONT was caved in, and ever-after, I had to use a bungee cord to keep it closed.

lol, San, I keep thinking of the "incident" in Fried Green Tomatoes, where our heroine gets cut off by some young sweeties over a parking space...

Look at the GOSLINGS that just hatched !

Here's the mama Gwynneth (with a mouthful of down, and a raggedy "Angel-wing"):

The proud papa is Gandalf (shown here with Glinda)

The ruckus in the Hova-bator incubator started yesterday, waking us up with a noisy rock 'n' rollin' effort to exit the shell, then, a LOT of floppitty-floppin' about and frantic cheeping, between long rest breaks.

I have a sneaking suspicion that my honey-baybee deliberately imprinted the goslings... perhaps these ones won't try to BITE the hand that FEEDS them?

NaeNae 03-04-2008 09:07 AM

LOL maybe he's trying to tell YOU something Kay! Maybe the esposo wants to build a little nest! LMAO I crack me up sometimes.

I homeschooled for what seems like forever yesterday then took a very short walk on the beach....body didn't want to. Lately all of the neighbors have taken to popping in and wanting to hang out...I think cause its warm they all want to go visit or something...our new neighbors have either been over here every night or we've been over there! (of course they just want me to feed them too!) Bought groceries last night and I can tell spring fever is upon us, I mostly bought light stuff like fruits and salads and some yummy sushi for my lunch today!

On the good side the kids have played themselves out falling quickly to sleep like little rocks!

but I gotta say, my little heart was BURSTING watching all the babies yesterday.

hey, maybe my kids will finally gimme some grandbabies to snuggle?

FinLady 03-04-2008 09:42 AM

spring fever was in the air yesterday. We were almost in the 70s. My hubby and I went to dinner, and then we went window shopping for ideas for our home. Can't believe it, it was his idea. :eek:

Of course now it's cold, rainy, and flood watches/warnings all over the place. I can't believe it teased us like that! LOL.

Work's been busy. Hoping that the four hour gig helps with the fatigue, even though it's been a little rough even at part time hours. Awaiting results from the test so I can find out if we can explore other options. LOL, maybe I should just hook up an IV and have coffee all day. :D

Hope everyone has a great day today.

:eek::D:eek:

That's funny because she showed me her insurance card and it was Mercury Insurance (never heard of that). I then handed her my insurance card and said " Don't worry, I have State Farm." hahahaha :p I spoke with the investigator last night and while he wouldn't say it outright, he did giggle when I said "You know there are people out there who dent their car up and then try to blame someone when it's a minor fender bender." They want me to take pics of my car and measure the bumper so they can compare the damage. He did say if I dented her hood there should be something on my car. I think this girl may suddenly realize she has to be honest with daddy about the other dents.

greta 03-04-2008 12:02 PM

We got rearended at Christmas by a motorcycle with Mercury! He's trying to blame us saying we merged into him. Once our insurance investigator saw the damage, she was a little befuddled as to how we could have merged into him...we're still waiting to get our deductible back. Argh.

Good luck with your claim. Makes me glad I'm not an adjustor!

barb02 03-04-2008 05:34 PM

Winter is definitely back. :( Have had freezing rain and now snow since last night. Supposed to stop in a few hours. Most highways and interstates are 100% ice and snow covered and everything is canceled. and it was 73 degrees on sunday! Tried calling my pcp this afternoon and found out they closed the Carle Clinic at noon. I don't ever remeber them doing that before. This is not a small office. Hope the roads are better tomorrow so I can make my tysabri appointment. Have to drive about 45-50 miles to get there.

Renne, Can I come visit?:D Do you actually live on or near the beach? I am so envious. My older sister and I are taking my mother to Myrtle Beach the first week in May. She turns 80 in June. (obviously, I mean my mom) I can't wait to see the ocean again. We are renting a 3 bedroom condo for the week.

Kay, I always enjoy your pictures.

Going to watch the election returns tonight and I have a pot of spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove. Comfort food!

Well she is trying to claim stuff that I am pretty sure my car didn't do. But it's out of my hands and State Farm will have to look into it now. I have accident forgiveness thank goodness. First one in 23 years with State Farm. How about that? LOL

I hope you get your deductible back but don't hold your breath. Chris was hit by someone with an off brand insurance company and we never did get our deductible. We just said screw it and took a pay out on the car. It really wasn't worth fixing anyway at the time according to the Kelly blue book value.

FinLady 03-05-2008 09:03 AM

Good morning all. Woke up to snow on the ground this morning. Gotta say winter does put up a good fight to stick around.

Did not want to wake up this morning, but was up later than usual last night for an unknown reason. Just couldn't get comfortable no matter what I did. Oh well happens.

So I'm a little cog foggy. Hoping my coffee wakes me up soon. :)

NaeNae 03-05-2008 09:12 AM

Barb-absolutely come visit!! I live 5 minutes from the beach and my house is situated on aherm I know...but I didn't build it......wetlands off the back bay,so walk for two minutes beside my house and you hit water! Of course you are also covered in ticks and have trolloped all over snakes...so I prefer the beach LOL! I live 6 hours straight north from Myrtle beach but it is a wonderful drive! hehee and there's a Hilton and Holiday Inn just right down the road a ways!

We were supposed to have horrible storms here last night all we got was a little rain and 60 mile an hour winds...typical! Surrounded on 3 sides by water its either hit or miss usally miss!

Going to neuro today ,need to have all of my disability reports filled out,plus talk about some other issues. Wish me luck!

LOL PS Hey Barb when you come visit can you swing by Somonauk and grab Sandy??

SandyC 03-05-2008 11:24 AM

SandyC 03-05-2008 11:52 AM

So, I guess I should tell you guys what I did yesterday huh? I swept the floors, re-organized Jim's pills and medical supplies into new bins, broke down all the boxes, filled out my accident report, took pics for the insurance company, finished my laundry and cleaned off the dressers. Oh, and watched the election results till too late in the night.

Today is balance the checkbook day. OMG, that is a job since I haven't done anything with it since we went to my mothers! haha

Fin, are we there yet?

Dang Girl, slow down. I'm exhausted just reading all that you did! LOL.

Actually, sounds kind of like my morning minus a few things. DDs both have colds so it was major sanitize day at my house. I know, probably a little too late for that. LOL.

Count me in Renee. I could use a trip to the beach. It's been a while.

Kay - keep the beautiful pictures coming. I overdid it this weekend and although I haven't posted I've LURKED. :p The pictures were uplifting (despite the fact that they couldn't get me up off the couch.:D).

Hope you're all having a good day.

suzyqz_2007 03-05-2008 04:55 PM

Good Afternoon! Hope everybody is well and having a good day! I'm just taking it easy today, resting up for the rodeo and Alan Jackson concert tomorrow night! Found out cameras are allowed so cross your fingers that I can get some good pics! I'll be taking my telephoto lens so I can zoooooooom in close on that good looking hunk of a man! :p

lol, I totally know that one...

I'm good for about one hour, early in the morning, and one more before dusk... the rest of the time, just call me Kay-Potato!

here's some more:

one of the three goslings' teensy webbed feet refused to uncurl.

(previous housing was a tad cramped, lol!)

mi esposo researched the issue online, and got some hot tips.

he fashioned a pair of booties, from thin cardboard and clear medical tape.

with our kitty "assisting" (and at one point trying to claw her way onto my lap, causing me to almost DROP the baby goose on the floor, EEEK!)

we got the booties trimmed to fit, and taped into place:

I am feeling really upset and stressed out. I had another reaction to tysabri today (see tysabri thread). I'm not sure if I want to cry, scream, or ??? Does anyone have any suggestions?:mad:

aw, barb, that blows!

I don't know *anything* about Tysabri, so can't offer any ideas.

but I CAN give ya hugs, and support!

I remember all the years of Betaseron and Copaxone, the trials and tribulations, the anxiety and worries... so... I WON'T say something trite like "Don't worry." 'cause that's nigh-unto impossible!

here's me (awake at 4 am, with leg cramps and hot flashes, lol), wishing you were feeling better:

Barb, :hug::hug: I'm so sorry to hear about the reaction to the Ty. I wish I had some advice, hun. Lots of virtual hugs heading your way.

Sue, have fun at the concert!

Kay, awww the little ones are cute.

~~~~~~
Not too much going on. Have my cup of coffee and trying to wake up, as usual. :)
Have been very tired at the end of the work day lately. Hoping this isn't the beginning of a trend.
suzyqz_2007 03-06-2008 09:20 AM
:Sob: I have been awake since about 8am yesterday! Last night me and the bathroom became close friends. :( I don't know if it was something I ate or what happened but I know one thing, I sure don't wanna go through that again! And to top it off my legs are stiff and the crazy weird numbness in my face and tongue are back! I told dh to give the concert tickets back to his boss so that somebody else could go, I would rather do that than to see them go to waste. I just didn't think I could handle the crowd and noise plus it's supposed to storm tonight too. Oh well...there will be other times.
I'm going to try to eat a little something and lurk for a while then hopefully get some sleep.
:grouphug: Susan
FinLady 03-06-2008 09:27 AM
Sue, So sorry to hear you're not feeling well. :hug: Rest up and get better soon.
NaeNae 03-06-2008 09:35 AM
Hey guys, thanks for the hug and poem Sandy of course it made me cry all over again!
FYI-in a moment of sheer frustration...I don't have them often as I am usually pretty positive I called Sandy yesterday and then midway thru burst into tears, which has been happening alot the past few days. For one I just got off my period...no hormonal issues there...yeah right! Then I have been in horrible pain the past few days,in fact after I got off the phone with Sandy I almost went to the ER later because I thought I was having a heart attack....alas it was only chest spasms because I and hubby could feel the muscles spasming!
Another pain issue is the allodynia, just wind whispering across my skin hurts, I have burning,numbness and a cold feeling in my arms and I went to my neuro and she actually seemed clueless about all of my new symptoms ones that clearly and obviosuly are symptoms of MS which then had me questioning if she even knew what the hell she was doing!
Barb- so sorry about the Tysabri, my first infusion is Tuesday. I am hoping it will help.
Last night after bawling to my mother for an hour ( I know Sandy, but she was actually sympathetic this time) Hubby went for takeout as I told him the pork chops could rot in the sink for all I cared because I was NOT cooking! I took a muscle relaxer because the chest spasms were so bad and then I went to bed...not to sleep as Olivia wasn't having that. I feel slightly better and I do mean slightly today or maybe my attitude has just improved a bit.
barb02 03-06-2008 09:50 AM
Renne, It sounds like you had a really tough day. I hope things go better for you soon. Don't worry about ny reactions to tysabri. I have had problems with all of the MS drugs as far as tolerance goes and side effects. I am also allergic to penicillin and sulfa. "I am such a delicate creature.":rolleyes: Make sure you ask your neuro about blood work. Mine does seem to be keeping up with all of the warnings, etc.
I am feeling olay today. I have to "run" out and get bloodwork done soon. My MS does seem to be stable since starting tysabri and I do have a bit more energy so I do not want to stop. I guess I will just have to chill out and hope for the best.
Kay, thanks for thinking about me. Loved the dog. I have to deal with those **** hot flashes too. I seem to be either hot or cold.
Sue, I am sorry you missed the concert. I know you were looking forward to it.
Thanks for the hugs everyone.
FinLady 03-06-2008 10:18 AM
Renee, :hug::hug: Sorry to hear that things have been so rough for you lately. Sometimes the crying and screaming helps with our attitude. Scares everyone else to death, but can definitely make you feel better.
Sorry to also hear that the neuro seems clueless about MS symptoms. I'm beginning to think that we need to bombard these neuro offices with info during the MS awareness month. They never seem to agree on what's going on with us. :rolleyes:
:grouphug:
SandyC 03-06-2008 11:23 AM
Hey everyone! I didn't hit the bills yesterday so today will be that day. Yay for me!
Renee, anytime you need a shoulder to vent on I am here. Sorry I went into "let's get you a new doctor" mode but that's my nature haha. Just ask Jim! I think I drive him nuts at times. I am glad you figured out the problem last night. That had to be scary girl! Hugs to you!
Barb, glad your feeling better.
Sue, I hate having a stomach thing. I'd rather suffer through the regular flu than have my stomach all tied up in knots and bolts! There is nothing like sitting on the pot with a garbage can in front of you. Yuck!
Fin, I just posted on your thread. I hope things work out for you. God is walking with you.
Has anyone seen Vonn?
