:D

I'm just a faker, Frank.

an hour to an hour and a half at dawn, and then another again at dusk, and I'm basically done for the day.

so, that's a nice retirement, eh?

90% of the day, I'm napping, curled up with a book, or goofing off on the computer.

I just mostly TALK about the chores, because they define my day... like bookends, and give continuity and meaning to my life of basically slothfulness and leisure, lol !!

so, yesterday, I got to WATCH Persephone deliver her babies... she had three huge healthy little guinea piglets... they're the most amazing critters, within an hour, they're walking around, nursing, and eating lettuce... I got to watch mama lick her babies clean, and

raising children would've been a LOT easier for me, if THEY got independent as quickly, lol !!

of the 15 duck-moms on nests, 12 have hatched out their clutches by now, and we've a total of 107 (or so) ducklings cruising around.

yesterday morning I had to develop a new strategy... there's too many babies for the little waterers to be sufficient, so I dragged the giant black plastic water dishes I used for the goslings into the ducky nursery...

thought I was so smart, eh ?

NOT !!

mad chirping and cheeping woke me from yesterday's nappy, and I ran (hobbled, lol!) to the nursery to find two baby ducklings had somehow gotten IN the dishes, and were waterlogged, and exhausted from swimming.

they'd gotten IN, but couldn't get back OUT... silly duckies.

see, duckie-baybies mustn't go swimming this young, their oil glands aren't up-n-running yet, so water DOESN'T do the "like water off a duck's back" thing yet.

and ha ha ha ha ha, two of the mama ducks tried to BITE me when I attempted to rescue the lil early-swimmers...

geez, so protective !!

so, my fabulous solution was to find a couple of large rocks, and plop 'em into the dishes, so, the babies will have some help climbing back out if they should accidentally go swimming again.

:grouphug::hug::grouphug:

hubby's been working all morning, creating a galantine... anybody here ever have that fancy dish?

I never have, and I'm looking forward to it... and he's really going from scratch, grinding up some pork (Kevin Bacon) for the forcemeat stuffing, and spending an hour carefully deboning the chilled bird that we plucked two days ago....

I smell the stock simmering deliciously, and am enjoying watching mi esposo figure out substitutes for some of the ingredients... really hard to find things like truffles and fennel and pistachios in the jungle, LOL !!

http://www.chefdecuisine.com/main/ch..._GALANTINE.asp

too bad it's gonna be HOURS before I get to taste it !

FinLady 07-27-2008 06:27 PM

Hi all again. :Wave-Hello:

Been feeling wiped out again, made me upset, so I'm coming up with some "new" ideas to try to reign in this fatigue thing.

We've never been consistant with bedtimes, that's over with. I need to start getting a normal time for sleep at night.

The second thing is, as much as I won't like it, taking a nap in the bedroom where the alarm is so I don't oversleep.

The water aerobics thing isn't working out that well, think it's because it's a half hour too long. I get past the point where it's helping into the point that it's not, so need to come up with something else to keep me healthy and raise energy without killing me too much.

I know, seems like common sense, LOL. But like I've said before - I'm a stubborn one who has to learn the hard way. Gotta remember I learned everything I need to know from kindergarten. :D

tkrik 07-27-2008 06:58 PM

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a good weekend.

Renee - Many hugs to you. :hug::hug:

Sandy and Jim - Hope you had fun at the game.

Fin -Maybe only doing 1/2 of the class will help. It is hard to set a regular sleep schedule. I mean, how can you go to sleep when you are not tired. lol I am not a night owl so going to bed between 9 and 10 is no problem. I do hope the new "rule" work for you.

So, did you post the painting? I would love to see it.

Vonn - Glad you checked in.

Frank - What are you going to do now that your buddy will be working?

Kay - I truly don't know how you do it all. You are definitely one amazing and inspirational woman.

Barb - How can you not go to Red Lobster and not blow it? lol Yummy!!! I love the biscuits too! Don't worry though allow yourself a treat every now and then. You are doing great so far and I'm proud of you.

Hi Everyone else that I missed. Hope you are doing well.

~~~
Had a great weekend at DBF's. I painted and he worked on his Harley. He has his big ride coming up and started working on his older bike to ride (road king - so it has the saddlebags, etc.). Of course, we didn't work on the house at all which suited me just fine. It is too humid and the evaporative cooler doesn't work well in humid weather. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evapora...rative_cooling for those that don't know what these are.) So with increased muscle fatigue, weakness and extra spasms and shocks, I would not have been able to do much. The evap cooler in the garage works so much better than in the house so I spent my time in the garage doing paintings as well as DD16, DBF, and myself all chipping in to get the laundry done.
Oh, I did cook a Sunday morning breakfast this morning and then had to take a cold bath to cool down and get some mobility back. That was my big chore. lol
CayoKay 07-27-2008 07:15 PM
evenin' trish.
I am jealous!
haven't cooked in years, it's just too dangerous, me and knives and hot pans, and the stove, and standing up... and numb weak hands...
not a winning combination.
:D
greta 07-27-2008 07:30 PM
This weekend stunk!! I thought I'd be able to take my kayak out with my friend and I spent the entire time picking up stuff for the move and segregating stuff into storage and stuff to move. The highlight of my day was when I got to scrub the pooper scooper clean. A close second would be the brown rug I bought to bring (they warned us to bring lots of rugs). Lugged it in the house - it weighs so much, I could barely drag it. In non-fluorescent light - it's actually olive.... I'm hoping the movers will help me lug it back into the car so I can return it. I wouldn't bother but it was expensive enough that it's not worth keeping.
Luckily I have one more evening. That will be when i tackle the bedroom and bathrooms. Give me strength!
tkrik 07-27-2008 07:45 PM
Um, Kay, I sat down while bacon was cooking and only got up to check it, turn it or take it out of the pan. The easy over eggs only took a few minutes and then breakfast was done.
The crockpot has become my best and favorite kitchen appliance. It is a must. You can sit down prep everything that needs to go in it, throw it all in the pot, and let it cook for the rest of the day.
tkrik 07-27-2008 07:45 PM
Greta - Sorry you had such a bad weekend. I hope the upcoming week goes better for you.
SandyC 07-27-2008 07:56 PM
Go Cubs Go, Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago what do ya say, the Cubs are gonna win today!
WHOOHOO! The best game!!!!!
Hey Frank, TNT was right next to us with their cameras filming. Too bad I couldn't call you guys and tell ya to watch that channel! lol
We'll be on the cubs website under guest pics in a day or so. I'll let ya know when.
NaeNae 07-27-2008 07:57 PM
They prolly told you to bring lots of rugs because most of the flooring in Europe is tile.
Had kids birthday party of course they loaded up,went swimming,rode the go-cart, shot the air guns. Then we all went out for pizza afterwards. Now we are all pooped I think!
SandyC 07-27-2008 07:57 PM
I bet they had a blast Renee. How are you holding up?
Vonn07 07-27-2008 08:14 PM
finished my homework and quiz ... got 10/10 on the homework .. and good on the quiz ...
watching an orange-pink sunset, Tricia!
barb02 07-27-2008 08:30 PM
Have been enjoying the nice weather this weekend. Went to the pool yesterday and today. We go around 5:00 when most of the crowd is gone and stay for about an hour or so. I don't actually swim laps -- just sort of move around and slowly jog and do other exercises. I have to go into school tomorrow to do some work. We're supposed to get some bad storms here tonight. WAY TO GO CUB'S!:D
Tricia, Thanks for the words of encouragement on the diet!:hug::Thanx:
Jen, I am sorry that you are still dealing with this dang fatigue. I would definitely mention it to your doctor (other thread). Are you currently taking anything for fatigue? I usually go to bed every night at 10:00 and have not been getting up until 8:00. (I will probably have to go to bed earlier once school starts as I need to get up around 7:00 then.) That seems like alot of hours, but it seems to work for me. I cannot fall asleep during the day, but will rest.
Greta, Good luck with the cleaning and packing!
Hope everyone has had a good weekend!
FinLady 07-27-2008 08:50 PM
Barb, nope, no meds for fatigue for me. I've had a couple of rare reactions to them so neuro said "no more". Nothing like having all the symptoms of a heart attack with none of the physical damage of one. :rolleyes: So having to learn to do things the 'ol fashioned way.
Sandy, sounds like you guys had a blast at the game!
Renee, sounds like the kids had fun. Generally the more fun the kids have, the more tired the parents are. Hope you get some rest from the excitement.
TK, my hubby has a V-rod. He loves it!
Vonn, good job with school!
Greta, Sorry to hear your weekend didn't go as well as planned. :hug:
weegot5kiz 07-27-2008 08:58 PM
sabimax 07-28-2008 04:31 AM
Fin, I was thinking...wow surprise hehehee the water aerobics sounds great...maybe if it is too long..you could still do it, as so good for you ...but then at a certain time frame....head out...like when you need to step away from group...do a bit a stretching...or ending stuff...then head out...let teacher know it is something you love but long for your body...so you will be peeking out at a certain point...just idea...in case you loving the water...
Hey all, on way to work...what a difference with this neurontin...dont want to jinx it..but wow....days when humid...and usually tingling in lots of pain...just tingling slightly...woohooooo
gotta get to work, still cogfoggy and other stuff...but hey, step at atime, hugss,sarah
FinLady 07-28-2008 08:38 AM
Sarah and TK, sounds like a good idea. The summer "session" for the class is over after this coming week. The instructor knows I have MS, so I think maybe I could talk things over with her about stuff.
They have another class that is slower, but it's in a warm pool. I could barely breathe going into that room let alone the water :eek:, so I know that one is out for me.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Good morning all :) Waiting to see how I feel today. Was hurting a little last night, so had some Tynol PM. Let's see if today gets better with all my new ideas about resting. :)

Have a little reminder on my laptop's calendar that will pop up later, so I won't be forgetting to call the neuro today, LOL.

Hope everyone has a good day. :grouphug:

tkrik 07-28-2008 08:44 AM

Sandy - Sorry we missed you on TV but glad you guys had a great time.

Renee - The birthday party sounds like it was fun. I am glad the kids had a good time.

Barb - No problem on the encouragement. I think it is awesome what you have accomplished with W.W.

Fin - DBF has a road king and a night train. He loves them but the road king is his favorite. He was commenting this weekend on how much he loves the road king and that it is now 20 years old and still his favorite.

Barb & Fin - Do you find that it is easier to exercise in water? When you get out of the water do you feel the muscle fatigue more? I'd like to get back to swimming as I love to swim. Getting out of the water is my biggest concern so I would need someone there just in case. Don't want to drown due to fatigue. :eek:

Vonn - The sunset sounds beautiful and I am sure the colors reflected on the water of the lake beautifully. You are very fortunate and lucky.

Sarah - Still keeping my fingers crossed that it is the Neurontin that is helping you. What a relief that will be, finding something that works.

Kay - How are things on Auntie Kay's Jungle Farm? lol Hope you are doing well.

Weave - How are you doing? I am sure DD will have a great and rewarding time. She will be making lasting memories for not only herself but those that she is helping in Mexico. You must be so proud of her.

Hi everyone else. Hope you are all doing well.

Have a good day everyone!

FinLady 07-28-2008 08:55 AM

TK, Excerising in water can be great. You're sounded by stuff that can help you cool down, LOL. But getting out of the pool can be fun. :rolleyes: I'm the last one out since I know that my legs feel like lead and jello once they hit air again. (kinda weird feeling, but it's true)

tkrik 07-28-2008 08:59 AM

Thanks Fin! That was exactly my concern. At our pool here the only way to get out is by using the steps. I would have to have one of my girls there to help me up the stairs.

Of course, it is now the end of July and I am sure the pool is warmer than bath water. lol Happens every year. However, when the nights start getting cool the water will cool down enough during the night so that it will feel refreshing again. Maybe DDs and I will go check it out today.

weegot5kiz 07-28-2008 09:06 AM

morning folks

its another manic monday, hows everyone doing

fin that sounds like a plan, im going to get the park dist facility soon and start on a program the instructor is setting up for me and my MS

howdy Tk how is your monday goins so far, I have done the water workout twice so far, not sure its easier, if i fall oh boy splash , if i over heat, go under and cool off, thats kind of nice she wants to ad the walking thingy or bike, i told her bike might be safer, if my legs get tired the bike slows down on the walking thingy i get tired and frank does a face slap off the mat, and then shoots out into the wall...soooo I suggested the bike she agreed, as of late i have been getting my workout here at home working around this place.

Weave i couldnt say it any better than TK did, this will be something when she is older and has kids she will be able to share with them and with herself again and again. hang in there mom you will do fine.

barb kay vonn sandy jim renee and everyone else have a good day

peace

tkrik 07-28-2008 09:26 AM

Frank, how about a tandem? That way if your legs get tired she can do all the peddling? I did think of getting one of those motorized bikes but they are far too expensive. With the motorized bikes if I get tired, the motor can take over for me.

Doing housework is a workout! I make that my main exercise program. It works out great - I get a workout AND a clean house. lol I try to do this 3 times a week. When there are groups of things to put away like DDs shoes in the living room, I don't gather them all up at one time. I make several trips from the living room to their bedroom.

I don't know what it is about them and their shoes. They come in, sit on the couch, take their shoes off and there they stay. Right now I have 2 pairs on the floor. That is 2 trips to their room. (Mind you, I only go to the door way and set them inside the door. Their room is their responsibility, not mine. lol).

I have a small kitchen so sometimes when I wash the floor, I do it the old fashioned way - on my hands and knees. Then as I wash, I do yoga stretches. It works for me.:D

weegot5kiz 07-28-2008 09:36 AM

mine know better i use to toss them out into the front or back yard regardless of the weather lol god I forgotten all about that, i broke debs kids bad habit of doing that in two weeks, i totally forgot about that it worked although i had snow to my advantage, all i have to do is say do you want to go chase them

trish you are so right about housework i remember when i could crank the tunes and get the house house spic n span clean in a few hours while doing laundry, and this and that and no problem after, now lol omg its a joke vacuum one nice size room dust windex the glass stuff and ok wheres a chair, totally bites, i have become pretty good at being the foreman around here u here do that u there do this blah blah blah...i still feel compelled to work

tkrik 07-28-2008 09:49 AM

Frank - LOL It is a major undertaking now. I have made the decision that when I can clean the whole house in 1 day, without resting or napping, I am ready to head back to the workforce (mind you, I live in a 900+ sq foot apt., not a real big place). As it is now, It takes me an hour to clean my approx 8' by 3' kitchen and my dining area that is about the sames size.

Lately, it's wipe the counters, sit and rest; clean the stove, sit and rest; clean the refrigerator, sit and rest. LOL It takes forever.

The good thing is DDs are responsible for loading and unloading the dishwasher. It has been a great chore for them because they have learned the effect of not working as a team. If one doesn't do her chore, it effects the other (more often than not, the unloader carries the weight. If she doesn't unload, the dishes stack up and the loader can't do her job and I can't do mine.). They do well now but it has taken a few years. lol

EDIT: BTW Frank, we have scorpions. That alone should work. You got me thinking now . . . .

SandyC 07-28-2008 09:53 AM

Hey all! Today is a good day. Jim woke me up, or shall I say his left leg woke me up. Have you ever had your leg just raise up all by itself? Well, Jim's does that every so often. It's like it has a mind of it's own. I told Jim this morning it wants to walk. :-)

I need to disassemble the two hospital beds we have and get the room ready for the NEW BEDS. Whoohoo! I am putting my old bed in the guest room. Can't see anyone complaining about having an adjustable bed in there. lol

Our picture is up! The website wont let us copy the image so I am giving you the direct link to our pic. Jim and Sandy's family pic at the Cubs game

weegot5kiz 07-28-2008 09:56 AM

lol i thought about that, you dont need snow to motivate them, you got things that go bump in the night down there, the first time deb looked at me and had a cow i said hush we are gonna fix this problem watch, the amazing thing is the autistic child figured it out quicker than his two older "smarter" brothers did, and on occasion i still have to say shall we go find our shoes in the dark, it works :)

weegot5kiz 07-28-2008 10:02 AM

cool the boys got to go with also, thats cool you all had a great game to enjoy, it was a good game, am so glad to know you all had a good time

tkrik 07-28-2008 10:03 AM

Cute picture Sandy! It looks like you guys had fun.

SandyC 07-28-2008 10:04 AM

I forgot to add that Jim's cousin Wes Helms was there. He plays for the Marlins but since being traded from the Brewers he hasn't been playing much except pinch hitting.

Jim said to tell you guys he's actually a leg model and doesn't have ms. The wheelchair is to protect his legs. He said he charges extra for close ups. lmao

tkrik 07-28-2008 10:08 AM

Hot dam*! Tell Jim that I saw those legs and just had to whistle at them. lol

FinLady 07-28-2008 10:13 AM

Ah, the truth is out! LOL. :D:ROTFLMAO:

~~~~~
Called my neuro. Got the yadda yadda about how hot it's been lately, try to keep cool, etc. My appointment is not until October.
Ah well, pass the margaritas. :D
JustWeave 07-28-2008 10:45 AM
Sheesh! Just waded through the weekend news here. Busy, busy, busy. :grouphug:
Thanks for asking about DD, her trip, and how I'm surviving. You guys/gals are the bestest. :D I got another update in church on Sunday. She is doing well (their word) and so am I. My mom emailed me and said she thinks when DD returns either she will talk non stop for a week or sleep for a week. I tend to agree with Mom. DD might email me later this week but I am going with the no- news- is- good- news train of thought. Words can not describe how proud I am of DD for going on this trip. :hug:
I need to get off of here and get some things done. I want DD to walk in the house and know that mom was busy while she was gone. That means I need to get my butt in gear and get moving. :eek:
FinLady 07-28-2008 12:44 PM
Weave, glad to hear so far so good for your DD. You allowed bragging rights, she's doing a great thing. :)
~~~~~~~

Feeling a little better today. Got in some chores, and going to pick up my new glasses in a little while. At the doc's office, the new script had me almost back to 20/20. :Dancing-Chilli: LOL, hope it holds for more than a year.

barb02 07-28-2008 01:44 PM

I feel guilty reading about all of you cleaning your houses. I started hiring a service to clean my place last summer. Since I live alone, it does not get too dirty. I have them come twice a month and it takes two of them about two hours to clean. They came this morning. I was going to go into my office to do some work, but the ac was off all weekend in the building and it was too hot. A friend called me at 8:30 this morning and told me not to come in; she was leaving because it was too hot. So I went shopping (bought 2 pairs of Carter PJ's for my niece and got them for $5.50 each). I thought that was a pretty good bargain.

Sandy, Cute picture! It looks like it was a nice day.

Tricia, I do have to pull myself up the steps when I am done at the pool. They have those removeable steps (almost but not quite like a ladder). I guess that is so they can take it out during swim meets. Last night, I was pretty tired walking to the car. I actually have been kind of cold in the pool here. But moving around really does feel good. I am going to sign up for water aerobics at the Y in September. I hope the water is not too warm.

weegot5kiz 07-28-2008 03:05 PM

that was my problem barb the water is a tad bit too warm, would be nice if it were cooler, but i need to go and get some of these muscles working better... maybe tomorrow deb and i shall go

hope everyones afternoon is going well

sabimax 07-28-2008 03:31 PM

Fin, oh wow...

you confirm I have whatever you have...hehehe so is that a Dx..yeahhh

no...what I mean is, you mentioned the pool and getting out last etc...

well months ago, I was going over to the Y, to swim laps....thinking good exercise for pudgy me...and as you say stay cool....I go into the pool even on good day with no issues....LOVE the water and the swim...feel great...when I come out of the pool....I was like 99 years old...everything was stiffening and achey...hard to move...I walked funny for a bit....till stretched out....

hugssss...

hugss to all..just home from work..tired and need to change...hugsss all, sarah
