oh, caca!

it's drench-pouring again!

:eek:

got the special butter all finished (it has to simmer for 24 hours, then set overnight in the fridge)

so, tomorrow is brownie day, and you're all invited!

unfortunately, the roads are all closed, the ferry's out, the bridges are submerged, the dam's at 160% of capacity, and the rivers are flooded.

gee, I sure hope that damn dam holds !!

guess I'll be eating my brownies all alone...

:cool::D:cool:

Hope all of you are doing better today...can't sleep, taken my meds...guess they ain't gonna work. I would go terrorize the neighborhood...only problem is I'm too well known in these here parts.

HMMMmmmm....wonder how far I would have to drive until I wouldn't be recognized? Guess, I better check the all the local postoffices for pictures...well it was a good idea while it lasted...

You should hear Catfish, my boston terrier, he is snoring so loud!! I am looking for him a good family, I can't keep him any longer...which was the plan when I rescued him. He is such a sweetie and so handsome! He was also in trouble for dragging all the throws around.lol

......"Autumn Leaves"

The splendor of autumn is so bright
colors that reflect upon us and our sight
those brilliant oranges and colorful reds
how you describe this feeling, what can be said
there's a spiritual feeling in side your soul
this is gods intention those colors are his goal
showing us his beauty before the season is over
tis is better than finding a four leaf clover
to feel the inspiration that autumn holds
a joyful reminder there will be spring after the cold
so enjoy the colors that are there for all too see
its real easy to do and will set your worries free
yes raking and bagging is a pain,and don't forget the eaves
enjoy while you can it will be another year ere we have autumn leaves

the pictures taken by my friend who's staying at our house.

this explains why I haven't posted the photos of the Naked Neck Chickens.

it's just RAINING too dang much to leave the paths we built to go FIND the chickens! (ours are all free-rangers)

:o:eek::o

FinLady 10-19-2008 09:49 AM

Kay, Stay dry and safe. :hug:

Frank, thanks for the pics and poems.

Sandy and Wiz, send some of that energy this way. LOL. :D Glad you guys got so much done yesterday.

Sarah, :hug:

Momma, sorry to hear about the restless night. :hug:

~~~~~~~
Morning all! :) Sipping my usual morning cup of coffee.
Got to start here soon on making some slow cooked stew for dinner tonight. It's time for good ol' fashioned fall comfort food, lol. Pulling out the meatloaf, stuffed cabbage rolls, shepard's pie, and other such recipes. Plus they make nice leftovers. ;)
Hope everyone has a great day today. :grouphug:
barb02 10-19-2008 10:43 AM
Frank, Those pictures are beautiful. Thank you!
Jen -- What time is dinner?
Kay -- Be careful! Hope the rain stops soon.
Wiz -- Glad you had a good day! Please send some of the energy a few hours south!
My update: Had a decent day yesterday and I am going to take it easy today. I do need to run to the grocery store, do laundry, and clean my master bathroom, but otherwise I am gong to read a good book. so far I have started doing the laundry and have been doing some light cleaning.
I don't think I am going to be on here quite as much for awhile. I'll be checking in occasionally, and try to read some of your posts. But teaching and this flare are kicking my ***.
Hope everyone is having a decent Sunday!
weegot5kiz 10-19-2008 10:46 AM
hmmm laundry, thanks for mentioning it lol
Barb you be careful and take it easy, I hope you are able to find a calm medium between work and MS:hug::hug::hug:
SandyC 10-19-2008 10:51 AM
Once again you are all busy. LOL
Kay, thanks for the pics. WOW! Are you sure your high enough? *the house silly* lol
Frank, glad to hear your going to the doc tomorrow. Someday you have to get better so we get can together again.
Wiz, I still have to scrub the floors today, throw a load of laundry in, make dinner and get Jim a shower later tonight, and then myself. lol What's on your agenda today?
Sarah, thanks again for the link. I saw one of our NT member left a sweet message and thank her for that. :hug:
Momma, I am sorry you couldn't rest. That little boy looks like he's restless too. I have enough animals but hope you find him a good home.
Jenn, my neighbor made a stew to die for last week. She cooks the seasoned beef as a roast first and then hand cuts the meat to get rid of all the grizzle and fat. Then she slow cooks the meat with veggies. YUMMY! I'm hungry now.
Barb, we'll miss you but understand. I pray you get some relief soon.
Well, I updated to Wiz what's on my agenda today. I keep looking at the garage because it is clean. lol I still have to tackle my van because I messed it up dragging yard clipping to my neighbors house. Maybe if I get the floors cleaned I can tackle that while dinner is cooking.
Everyone who hasn't checked in yet have a good Sunday and stay healthy. :hug:
So this means you'll be moving again if you get the job? Do you know anyone up there to stay with until you get a place? I'll say a prayer for you that you get the job Vonn. :hug:
Vonn07 10-19-2008 10:58 AM
okay .. true confession: ... I grew up in GB ... and have many friends there - I received an email back from a friend that I've known for over 15 years ... and said "I want to come home" ... and his comment was quote:
"I knew someday you would get it figured out.
You are not stubborn, you are strong willed and wanted things to fall in to place. Sometimes they do and sometimes not.
You are a strong person and have proven you can work thru everything that is thrown at you, and you come out the other side stronger for it.
Everything is a life lesson.
You go girl!"
he's helped me out financially this summer to move here, he's a good friend, non-judgmental ... and I knew that he would be honest with me - and never 'forced' me to come back to GB ... nor had my other friend - who also knows that I want to come back after all my 'running' ...
thanks, Sandy ...
FinLady 10-19-2008 11:05 AM
Barb, dinner should be done around 6. Of course around 4, the good smell of the stew is going to start driving us nuts. :D Take care of yourself today. :hug:
Vonn, best of luck no matter what happens. :hug:
Sandy, want to come over and clean my SUV? :D Ah, never mind. I should tackle the mess it's in myself - it's embarassing. :icon_redface:
~~~~~

Now that the slow cooker dinner is going, have a few more things to tackle today. Including laundry.

Take care all. :grouphug:

Kay, I'm glad you're on higher ground. Hope it's high enough! Stay safe:hug:

Jenn, I have stew in the slow cooker today too!! lol It's my grandma's recipe. Prep time is a little longer than I care for, but it's so worth it when dinner time arrives! **yummy**:)

Frank, thank you for sharing the beautiful autumn pictures! Take care of yourself and feel better soon.:hug:

Barb, take it easy today.:hug: Believe me, the cleaning will wait for you.

Von, that's wonderful news! Good luck and if you move again, send me a pm with your new addy!:hug:

Sandy, I think someone slipped me a "Sandy pill" today! lol I've had more energy this morning than I've had in a long time!:) Hope you and Jim are both doing well!:hug:

Sarah:hug::hug:

I woke up with the chickens this morning. Had a cup of coffee, then got the stew ready for the slow cooker. I've cleaned the bathrooms, mopped the kitchen floor and now I'm doing some laundry. I have more cleaning to do, but I'm trying to pace myself so that I don't pay for it tomorrow.

DH's vacation starts Wed. and we leave for Dallas on Thurs., so I'm trying to get all of the housecleaning done before we leave. I want to come home from vacation and have absolutely nothing to do except our laundry.

I have a list of things to do, but I'm being very careful about pacing myself and knowing my limits. I'm trying to be a good girl.:rolleyes::p

I hope everyone has a good day!:grouphug:

I hear ya Wiz! Provigil does wonders for me, too! The only time it doesn't work is when I'm in a flare.

Vonn07 10-19-2008 01:24 PM

well, I've been downsizing ... and will donate more when I re-relocate ... then I'll have room for my girls (full-size mannequins) ... artificial roommates ...

is Provigil an Rx from the doctor?? can I request for one?

Blues Girl 10-19-2008 01:42 PM

Sandy, I've been working on him...lol. He's been shopping online for a Harley. He was working a deal with a guy in Milwaukee last week, planning to drive there to pick up the bike. The trip would've taken us right by your town and he said it would be cool to hook up with you and Jim. But the deal fell through.:( He ended up buying a new Harley soft tail yesterday from a local dealership.

I'm still working on it though! Even if I have to make a trip on my own!:)

Dang, that would have been very cool. :( Maybe next time. Does he ever go to Sturgis? My cousin goes every year.

Blues Girl 10-19-2008 01:48 PM

Von, provigil is a prescription drug. Ask your neuro about it. It's great for fatigue and it also helps clear the cogfog.

LOL...I sound like a commercial ad.:D:p

SandyC 10-19-2008 01:49 PM

Jim's doctor wont give it to him. I think it's because he takes so many meds already and doesn't want me to find Jim doing an Elvis. :yikes:

Oh, I was so excited! Then completely bummed out a few hours later when the deal didn't work out.:(

He used to go to Sturgis, but it's been several years. He's really starting to get into the whole bike thing again though. We used to ride all the time until he started drag racing. But since he sold the dragster, we'll probably be going on a lot of rides. Although for me, the weather is starting to get too cool to ride. I'm a wimp when it comes to cold weather.

Vonn,

I hope you'll get the job and get to move back home. :hug: You have some wonderful friends... and I'm so glad. :hug:

Sandy,

Today I mow the lawn, better get out of this chair so I can say I got one thing done, lol. I got all excited when I saw the DeKalb thread and gave AMN a call. :Excited:

Everybody,

The Provigil keeps me awake and helps me to get motivated. It doesn't really give me energy but keeps me from going into total veg mode. I didn't take it today but will tomorrow. Now I need to get out there and get started. DH is downstairs installing a new water softener. The old one finally bit the dust. Now... off I go before the day is gone. :o

Have a nice Sunday everybody! :)

FinLady 10-19-2008 04:15 PM

Dinnertime is about an hour away for me. Stew is smelling great! Definitely will be ready to eat it once it's done -LOL!

Got a lot of stuff done today, which is cool!! :cool: Crossing fingers that this is an upswing for me.

~~~~~
Tara, My hubby has a V-rod, and he loves it. He had to sell his Trans Am to get it, but he seems to be much happier with the bike than the car. LOL, there are some days where I tell him he needs to go ride, usually when he's being grumpy. ;)
Wiz, glad the provigil works for ya. Hope you got the lawn mowed.
Sandy, my hubby actually wants to go to Milwaukee one of these years. He was mad when he found out he couldn't go for the Harley anniversary party this year. I think it would be cool to see the museum. :cool:
nope, didn't think of that one... LOL!
wish I'd paid more attention in math class...
trying to do cubic volume estimations on the massive volume of water coming through the Mopan, it's bazillions and gajillions of gallons, just unbelievable !!
I'm in awe at the power of nature, and stunned by the results of the last few days of rain.
old-timers are saying they haven't seen it like this since Hurricane Hattie, back in 1961.
don't worry, we have plenty of food, fuel, supplies, and gear, we'll be fine.
might want to go to the bible there are some measurements there cubits i believe:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::eek:
Genesis 6:14 - 16 14 "Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch. 15 "And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits. 16 "You shall make a window for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
