Feeling a little stuck? :D LOL, don't blame you for having your mind elsewhere, Kay. I think that much water would have my attention too. Stay safe. |
Hey, if you didnt feel danger in it..why not...and even if she is a addicted to alcohol or drugs..she if not bathed probably lives on the streets...and could use the help...who are we to judge...?? If you felt safe around here opening your wallet to help....why not.....good for you..for being a good human being and not judging her....
good idea someone had to ask to help her inside to report the wallet that is a great idea too...hugssss,sarah |
Hey all! Frank, I was about to call you because I didn't see you post. lol Get well. They set up a time for Thursday's gtg. 1:30pm if that works for you and Deb and ONLY IF FRANK IS WELL!
Kelly, I would have given money to her too. I don't know how many homeless go and buy alcohol or whatever. One thing I do know is my heart was in the right place. Sounds like your was too. It was $2 and no loss in the long run. |
I agree Kell~You are a good person. Once I gave someone $$ and then found out later that the person was a scam artist, so I'm pretty wary of doing that now.
I don't come across panhandlers' in our little area, but have when we have traveled. Good to see your'e still in good spirits, Frank! *grin* It would be great to see you and Deb on Thurs, but guess we'll just have to wait and see how your'e doing. Unless I get to meet you in person, I still think of you as the little yellow HAID you used to have at the bottom of your siggy line. OK, I confess, I saw the Sonic pics! ME? I look like Tinkerbell. (ha!) |

That happened to me, too, DM. In fact, it was one of Kevin's friends from high school. Something about them not having rent money or something. Bad situation all around. I was working then and decided to help them out with $200. Found out later that this girl went to FL with the money. I still get irritated when I think about that!! :o Kay.....ya'll please be careful! Sheesh, that's alot of water. Do you have lots of snakes and reptiles come out because of it? What do your animals do? I'm heading off to hibernate in my bedroom. Kevin is playing a video game that is nothing but gunfire and bombs on the TV in the livingroom. My poor haid just can't take anymore!! |
Well, hubby decided to fix my car himself to save $$. LOL, it's been a couple of years since he took a car apart. We ordered the new parts, and hopefully they'll be here by Friday so I can have my car in better order by next week.
Nothing much else to update except meatloaf and potatoes baking in the oven. Hope everyone has a good evening. :grouphug: |

and it wasn't just my hyperactive imagination at work, that this was a freakin' LOT of water... (y'all were RIGHT about us possibly needing to build an ARK, Frank!) Floodwaters Force Closure of Western Highway at Succotz http://www.7newsbelize.com/images/102011c.jpg When we checked late this evening, the highway at mile 70 had been reopened to bus and trucks but it is being monitored closely by the village’s emergency management team. The Hydrology Unit reports that at its peak the flooding of them Mopan near Succotz surpassed all known levels and exceeded all the gauges. http://www.7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=12435 there's an aerial shot of my village: Epic Floods, Relentless Rains in Western Belize http://www.7newsbelize.com/images/102007c.jpg http://www.7newsbelize.com/sstory.php?nid=12434  |
Just talked to Frank and he's ready to get out of the hospital. He said he knows he should be there but if they would address his issues he'd feel better.
Please keep him in your prayers. |
hey Kay ... glad that you're still hi-and-dry ... and now the critters have to go on a bit of a fast until friday ... they'll be okay!!
Kelly ... just learn to be aware of where you are at all times and who's around you ... you'll be okay - and like everyone's said, you're a good person ... and your son is just being a loving son and is concerned for your safety .. in about 5 minutes .. I'm going to post my latest quilt top for a young girl ... let me know whatcha all think ... give me a few minutes here! thanks! OKAY .. new quilted pics now in my album!! enjoy!! |
HereKitty...In these times it is true that we need to be aware of our surroundings and of the people in which we come in contact. However, as someone of faith I also believe it when we are told that angels are sent unaware. If we do not 'help' them then how do we serve the Father.
This is not the verbatim, but it is what I believe...so I believe you did what was in your heart...she will have to contend with what was in hers. Yesterday...my son's truck caught fire not more than 5 minutes after he got out of it...he is fine...his truck is a crispy chevy...good news is we are having lunch tomorrow, bad news...I'm buying. lol |
Oh my gosh, Kay~ Those pics are scary! Please stay safe.
|
thanks, Missy Tinkerbell !! We are safe and sound, the highway has reopened, and my animals all have feed.
the "flood event" is now moving slowly downstream, and I worry about all the people along the Belize River, all the way to the coast... this is gonna be scary over the next two days (that's how long the river takes to get to the Caribbean Sea) In Bullet Tree and Calla Creek, families lost all their homes, crops and livestock, this is a huge disaster... :( at least it's finally stopped raining. |

or tell them my husband (or big brother) has the change, and will be coming out right behind me... if they insist, I offer them a can or two of beans... if they're really hungry, they'll take it. if they're drug addicts, they will usually just say something rude and leave in a huff. but people should be expecting more of this (being accosted by beggars), because of the present state of the economy, and the foreclosure mess: "We saw family homelessness began to increase last winter," says Sally Erickson, Portland's homeless program manager. "There's definitely a spike in the last six months." The number of requests for emergency shelter doubled from fiscal year 2007 to fiscal 2008, which ended in June. Darlene Newsom, who runs United Methodist Outreach Ministries' New Day Centers, which provide shelter programs for families in Phoenix, says the number of requests is "alarming." http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-10-2 what my husband does is offer to take them shopping, or buy medicine, whatever it is their "story" is about... they almost always decline. if all they want is cash, then he feels it's just for drugs or alcohol... but only $2 bucks? that's nothing to worry about, unless the person makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, and in that case, your son is right, just go right back into the store, and ask for an ESCORT to your vehicle. (hugs for Kelly) |
Vonn, Love the quilts!
Momma, so glad he's ok even if the truck isn't. Frank and Deb, still praying for ya. Kay, sorry to hear the effects of the flooding will be so far reaching there. Prayers going out. ~~~~~~~~ Not quite sure why I'm still up. Since around 9, just been restless. Can't sit still for too long. Been doing some little stuff here and there. Kinda hard to explain. Hope everyone has a good night. |
Holy Smokes! Flooding villages, crispy chevys, coding Franks.
What the heck is going on around here? Cut it out and get back to 'looking so good!' |
okay, Jane...
I'm looking so good, in fact, I look GREAT !! I got a snarky comment from a fellow expat (who's been here 30 yrs) we went down to the village store to get some stuff at the height of the flood... first, our friend looked at my husband, in cotton shorts, and flip flops, and said he'd come to wade through the flood "in proper Belizean style." he gazed at my thick rubber boots, with pants stuffed in, and long sleeves and said that I was "dressed like an American!" ha ha ha! but better safe than sorry, I mean geez, that water might be contaminated... never mind Kelly's nervousness about snakes swimming around !! anyway, after that, he mentioned, that aside from looking Americanish, I also was looking GREAT!! :D:cool::D hey Finny? WAKE UP !! so, didja get to SLEEP yet? :D:p:D *sorry, I'm channeling Frank's cellmate at the asylum there* |

I love it!! You're so talented.....I wish I had taken the time to let my mother teach me how to sew. I'll always regret not doing that. I have two quilts she made and they mean the world to me. |

LOL. Fell asleep somewhere around 3 and woke up around 9:30. Sipping coffee, but tempted to curl back up into bed. :D Sun is shining and melting the frost we had again last night. Temps fell below freezing after being in the 60s yesterday afternoon. brrr. Supposed to do this up and down thing for the next few days. Ah well, when the wind is chilly but the sun is still pretty warm has a tendancy to happen. :) Hope everyone has a great day. :grouphug: Frank, hoping you feel better soon.:hug: |
(((Frank))) - Hang in there! I know that you want to go home but you are in the hospital for a reason. They generally don't keep people in there that don't need it. Right now, you do. Allow them to take care of you and get you stabilized so that you can go home. Think healing thoughts. Saying prayers for both you and Deb.
Kay - Glad you made it home. I knew you would. Kelly - I would have done the same thing. However, a similar incident happened to me at the gas station a couple of weeks ago. This particular woman wanted $1 for gas. I asked her where she wanted to go as she lives in the area and that I had seen her before with a police officer at the Subway across the street. LOL Seriously. She got a little bent out shape on that one as that is not the answer she expected but it was the truth. She did say that her boyfriend lives in the area and they had a fight and she wanted to go home. I told her to go to the "cashier," if you will, of the gas station and ask to use the phone to call for help. She walked away. Vonn - I'll go check out your quilts. The ones I have seen are beautiful and you do awesome work. Good job! I got interrupted by DBF calling so I can't remember what I was going to post. LOL So, everyone else, have a great day and I hope you all are doing well.:grouphug: Today, I have to pull everything out from under my kitchen sink and get ready for the new dishwasher. Oh and I'm getting new faucets in the kitchen and bathroom. The one in the kitchen is starting to rust a little and the one in the bathroom the screws are rotting and I can't remove them to clean. Yeah!!! The maintenance girl (for the longest time I thought it was a guy until I heard her name:eek:) took the cover off the bottom of the dishwasher with her and left the underneath exposed. The smell of the dampness and/or mildew and mold was so bad I put kitty litter in there to absorb the moisture as well as the odor and I taped a plastic bag over the bottom part with the kitty litter inside. I'll untape it when she gets here. |

and yeah, *some* parts of the 4WDing adventure were a leetle beet nervewracking. we brought sandbags, a shovel, chains, ropes, and boards... but didn't need them, thankfully! :D:p:D |
Frank- I know you don't want to be where you are but it is the best place for you right now. Rest and behave so you can get out of there soon.
Kay- Sounds like the worst is over. I'm glad. Kelly- You have a heart of gold and that isn't a bad thing. Momma- Glad your son is okay. Scary! Princess DM- If you check out my last posting I ordered Frank to get well pronto. :p:D Vonn- I'll check out your quilt later. I like what I have seen so far. Hi to those I didn't mention. Poor memory. :o ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm alive and need to get moving. Lots to do. |

of all my worries, that's the one that's the biggest... since I can't easily drive, I worry about my mate getting injured on our farm, out in the middle of nowhere... so, how's your DH recovering now? how many stitches? |
Well, ya'll, I was up bright and early this morning....and I have a post somewhere around here at 5 AM to prove it!! I think it's on RW's Thrift thread.
I went to lay back down (just for a few minutes) after Matt left for work and the next thing I knew it was 10:45 AM!!! I slept for three hours!! Oh well, guess I needed it. Woke up and both cats were snuggled up next to me. Frank, please do what the doctors and nurses tell you to and stop worrying about getting out. You can't get out till you get better so just relax and get better now. Deb doesn't need the extra stress of worrying along with trying to work and taking care of everything by herself!!! Tricia, it's good to see you posting....I had missed you but understand that everyone has other things to do at times. I hope your new dishwasher is installed soon and without problems! New appliances are exciting!! Kay, stay dry!! I hope the water goes down soon. Weave, I'm happy to see you're in better spirits these days. Everything will work out just as it's supposed to. Fin, good luck to your DH in fixing your car! DM, it's good to see you again! Have fun at the GTG (and behave...or at least try to!!) Vonn, loved the quilts!! Momma, I'm so glad your son was OK. That's so scary!! Sox, hope your DH's pinky finger is feeling better today!! Carolyn, so good to see you posting again! We missed you! Jane, it's good to see you here, too! Sandy & Jim, have fun at the GTG!! Eat indoors so there's no bee's!! Sarah, hope your work schedule is light this week and you have some good quality time with your family. I watched Madeline's video...amazing woman. Thanks for sharing her life with us. Cindy, you've got your work cut out for you in keeping this group in line.......oh, what am I saying!!?? It's them who have their work cut out for them trying to keep you in line!! :p :D  I've got to go get a shower and figure out what I'm doing today. I know I will be spending a little while cleaning out my closet. I promised myself I would spend at least 15 minutes a day on this chore. Everyone have a wonderful day. Anyone I forgot to mention by name you know it wasn't intentional. Love you all!! :grouphug: |
Frank, listen up. Jim and I are coming to the hospital tomorrow after meeting everyone at the gtg if your not out. Cindy is right, take care of yourself and stop worrying about getting out. Your there for a reason and we want you to get better.
Tricia, New faucets and dishwasher? I think I want to rent now. lol Kay, thanks for the pics. I think your were the smart one even though you looked like an American and looked so good! Weave, just want you to know we're still praying for you that things will work out. Fin, I hope your car is fixed so you can get out. Kudo's on hubby for saving the money! DM, looking forward to tomorrow! Is there a special bow I need to know? Vonn, you are so talented. Momma, Sorry about the truck but I am so grateful your son was not in it! I think I'd buy him lunch too! Sox, how's hubby today? How's your little boy doing with school? Carolyn, I was just talking about you yesterday with Deb (Frank's wife). Good to see you again! Jane, Hi! Welcome back to the thread that never ends. lol Sarah, still thinking about you. Cindy, Jim and I are tame and harmless. Just ask Wiz. Kelly doesn't know what she's talking about. :p My update: Nothing but laundry. I need clean clothes for tomorrow. :D Everyone have a good day and stay warm and/or cool depending on where you are. almost had to have surgery as it was jagged and circular.:( they had to start in 4 different directions to get the fatty tissue to stay in. The first two nights were pretty rough, he had "fred flinstone thumb/pinky"" (if you know what I mean, throbbing). They gave him nothing for pain, I finally borrowed some from someone;) and with that and a benedryl he' was finally able to sleep. Its better today.:) Hope you are staying safe. |
howdy all you wonderful peops ..
thanks for the great comments and compliments ... I'm not good at accepting (still learning) ... don't want to get full of myself or lazy ... the quilts that I've made will be backed with fleece and when I get 10 - going to contact the hospital to find out if there are any children in need ... I may have to meet with someone first ... this is a huge step for me to help another ... my hands are sweating just thinking about it! now when the disability would kick in ... I wouldn't be so stressed about just surviving ... have a great day! SNOW??? :yahoo: maybe Sunday "rain/snow showers/wind" and then back into the 50s and sunny ... |

goldang freakin' RUDE phone company!
they disconnected my telephone for nonpayment. don't they REALIZE we haven't been able to get OUT of here to get cash, and pay the bill? besides, the town was flooded... unfeeling heartless bureaucratic idjits... well, at least the INTERNET still works, eh? and the funny thing is, I've no idea how many days the phone has been out, because we rarely use it... but my goat Lilah has a nasty abscess on her leg, and I was gonna call the vet to see if he'd make a housecall, and lance it... picked up the phone to dial, and got a recording, lol! sent hubby on the backroad to Benque with my emergency ca$h-sta$h, and now we're waiting for the dial tone to return. geez, it was ONLY a week late! oh, and I've NEVER been late before... (grumble grumble grumble) * * * PS: Frank, I LOVED your rant, sounds like something mi espos would say, except HIS is a more profanity-laced version. :D:hug::D |
hey all..thanks kitty for reading her story...wasnt that a awesome sight..?
Well sunny day, just folding laundry and junk....day off..what fun...hosuework and all...we went to the shelter today...well hubby seen article on the animals and the shelter beign full and how they need adoptions....so here we go peek...and think about idea of a kitty....(even though neither of us are cat ppl...haha) we looked over the dogs..in case one there that would work with kids and our dog..not too many there...tons of cats and kittens... I start to fall for a kitty...and then we think realistically how we dont need another something to take care of..since I am full plate here....but we were cosidering if the kids wanted to take care of the cute thing...well I call back there to confirm how much it is...thinking around $30-$40. as it was for dogs years back.... nope $75. for a kitty....(it covers the cost of the shots, and being fixed...) but still wow....so nope that confirmed our not needing another animal in the house right now..hehheee I am in a mood....not good mood....just overwhelmed I guess...with wanting to get some stuff done around the house...but not feeling up to getting it started...but then down when seeing the mess that I should get thru....did that make sense lol..... oh well, just overwhelmed...with my too too busy life....hugssss,sarah frank hang in there... Cayo sorry about the phone..that wasnt nice... hugsssss |
Hey, Dropping in to say hi and to check on Frank. I guess I just can't stay away. I am doing okay. The burning in my head is at a tolerable level today, and I am catching up on work at school.
The weather is a bit cooler down here (highs in the fifties today), but it is sunny. I actually love this weather. Frank, Your posts are certainly interesting to read. You should keep a journal. Hope you get out of that "place" soon. But if you go home too soon, you will just end up back there. Ok -- lecture is over. Kelly, I would have probably given the women the money too. Although the other day a woman asked me to drive her from our grocery store to the dollar store and I refused. I think she is a international student, but I was not sure. I felt bad, but it did not seem like a wise thing to do even in out little town. Kay, Sorry about the phone. Hope you get reconnected soon. Vonn, Another place that you could donate your quilts is to police or fire stations. They take them with them when people are in accidents, fires, etc. |
