Oh no Renee! I hope you get rid of them fast! Our boys got them in grade school. :eek: They were little boys so I shaved their heads. It wasn't fun.
I hope you and your little girl will be rid of them without damage to your hair! :hug: |
Wow! So many posts since I was here early this morning. I didn't even attempt to catch up with everyone this morning. I knew it would be impossible after being away for almost two weeks, not to mention I'm still not up to sitting at my computer for very long periods of time. But this thread moves so fast, I'm having trouble catching up with all the posts I missed since this a.m.!!! lol
I slept off and on most of the day. DH has been so thoughtful and understanding. During this relapse he's taken care of everything...laundry, cooking, dishes.........everything. He's been wonderful! :) My brother came by to see me before he left for Canada today. He will be there for a week. It's a business trip. He just wanted check-in on me before he left. Made my day! Barb:hug: Hope you're not having a flare.:hug: Frank, Kay, Char, Debbie (hope I didn't miss anyone) hope you all feel better soon. Sarah:hug: Thinking of you all:grouphug: |
Good Morning!
Renee - there were four moms talking about that at school yesterday - I guess it is really bad this year everywhere. One Word MAYONAISE the say put it all over the childs head, wrap a towel around it and leave it for 20 min's. Kills all the live ones and is cheap!!! What a mess - been there done that 3 times in my childrens lives grown up! :hug: Debbie from one student to another - "good for you!!!" I will not say it is easy especially an online course but I know I feel better about myself for going back to school. Don't give up! Sarah - my heart goes out to you :hug: Sandy - glad you and Jim had such a great day. So the leaves are turning there too? Vonn - have fun with company today! Jenn - you didn't over do it yesterday did ya? Kelly - How was the chili? Barb - I hope you are not in another flare! have you call the doc? Kay - is that a long trip to vote? Frank - good to see you! 4 hours??? How did you do that? ~~~~~~ I had a really hard day yesterday - not sleeping the night before and sitting in class for 6 hours was rough! I almost left half way through my last class but managed to sit there and suck up. We do have a break half way through but it just didn't seem to be enough yesterday. I did sleep last night so that is good!!! Just made my list of things to do today. Vac Car, go to the bank, work on Final Project for school, go for a walk and work on the baby sweater I am crocheting. Baby is due in a month and I am not even close! :eek: The sun is out, air is a crispy 44 degrees so it just has to be a good day! Hope everyone enjoys! |
Crap - sorry Tara I missed you!!!! :hug::hug::hug::hug::hug:
Hope you are feeling better this morning! You are so lucky to have such a wonderful DH.... does he have a brother? :wink: |
In case anyone wonders... Yes I'm still alive and kicking. Also packing, rearranging furniture and cleaning.
The extra furniture finally left the house on Monday. DH decided to rent a storage cube for a month and put the furniture there until a local consignment place can take it later this month. He thinks he will get better prices there which means more money for him to spend on himself. No word on any more counseling. I'm trying my best to move forward but it is so hard some times. |
Good morning everyone! Having my coffee and trying hard to wake up.
I haven't been on much. The weather got really nice here and I actually had energy to do things. So . . .full speed ahead I went. LOL I just can't get the hang of pacing myself. Last week I over did it and ended up in spastic fatigue land and what do I do when it cooled down, went like a bat out of he!!. I read through all the posts and I'll be danged if I can't remember what I just read so I'm sorry if I can't respond to each of you. Please know that I am thinking of all of you.:hug::grouphug: DD18 and I went to visit and spent some time yesterday at The Art Institute. She LOVED it!!! She was really excited about everything she saw and it was great to see her so pumped up. She wants to hurry up and get started. We have to fill out the application, do the financial aid form, and she has to write her essay. Once all is done and I know that we can get the financial aid (which according to the Federal Student Financial Aid office, we will be fine based on our income - or lack of lol.) If all goes as planned she will be starting school on November 12th. As for DD17, I can't keep up with that girl and her crazy schedule - school (all honors and advanced classes), extra study groups, dance team, church youth groups (high school for her and middle school that she helps with), football games she has to perform at, senior activities, etc. She has been applying to several colleges within the state as well as out of state and working on finding scholarships to help fund her education. Like I mentioned we are fine in regards to federal aid but they only give so much per year so extra grants and scholarships are helpful. The past week has been busy coordinating everything. The best news is that DD18 saw I was serious about moving out and finally got her butt in gear. She has another job interview today and since she will more than likely be starting school Nov. 12th that meets the requirement to continue to live here. I am one relieved mom! That's my update. Hope you all have a good day! |
Weave glad you checking in have been thinking of you!
Trish my DD17 came over Sunday and we were doing the whole college applications / scholarships / essay thing too! The kitchen table was covered with college brochures!!! She is excited and wanting to go into Radiology like her older sister did. Good Luck with both of them!!! |
hugss all...
oh nae nae...sorry..now I am soooo itchy..uggggg...my daughter who is 13 keeps having itchey scalp problems...I keep eye out and check her over for lice...but dont find nits....so think scalp thing.. done that lice thing once when I was preggo for a child..and I had gotten it too with the kids I nannied for..uggggg hugss all..good morning...feel sore everywhere...hugsss,sarah |
Char - I wish you and DD luck as well!
It is a really exciting time for these kids and their excitement and motivation is infectious. DD17 had a friend spend the night over the weekend. She was showing me all of her brochures as well and the girls were comparing colleges and campuses. DD17's friend wants to go to Pratt in Brooklyn for architecture and is so excited. Since my sister is an architect we called her and got advice on different schools. It was fun. The health care industry is a great industry to go in to particularly geriatrics. Us baby boomers are getting older (actually I'm a Generation Joneser but . . .). DD17 wants to be a nutritionist/dietitian and I told her that is an excellent field to go in to as there are so, so many places and industries she can work in. |
Weave, :hug::hug:
Trish and Char, how exciting that your daughters are looking towards the future. :) Tara, got a keeper there in your hubby. Glad he's so understanding. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Morning all :) Sitting here sipping my morning coffee. Trying to figure out what to do today. Got a lot that needs done, but will do little things here and there until the bod says "stop". I pushed when I could yesterday and stopped when the body said "enough". The mind's like "keep going", but learning to listen to the bod. It's smarter than I am sometimes, LOL. Gonna hopefully be a part of a holiday sale at the beginning of Nov. ****crossing fingers**** Depends on whether or not I get at least one official thing back in the mail (gotta love a state that requires a separate license for doing art shows/sales :rolleyes:) and if there's still space left. So have been trying to decide which paintings to take with me if everything pans out. Probably won't find out about the space thing until the 27th. Hope everyone has a great day! :grouphug: |
I don't freakin' believe it!!! I just got a call from the storage place where DH put the extra furniture... They require a padlock on all their units and his doesn't have one yet. There is an alarm system and so far no one has set it off but still. He didn't toss crap stuff in there! It's vintage stuff in good to excellent shape. Why don't we have a fuming mad "smilie" with smoke pouring out its ears? That is me right now. :mad::mad::mad:

add in a stop for lunch, and the drive home, stopping for supplies on the way (many things are only available in the capitol), and it's a half-day journey. but the right to vote is so important and precious, that I'm not willing to give it up. :cool: |
Weave, here you go:
http://1389blog.com/pix/SmileyAngryOrange.png http://www.mydisplayimage.com/aim/pr...anim_angry.gif http://www.procrastinators-anonymous...gry_smiley.gif http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n...mileyAngry.gif MY UPDATE: I am going to attempt a garage makeover. lol It is filthy and the floor needs to be watered down or something. I don't have a power washer so I will have to use the garage sweeper. BLECH! I may go to the shed and see if my carpet cleaner can help. :rolleyes: :grouphug: |
sandy ... you can come clean my garage ... might be alittle hard to do as there is a boat in there and boxes and totes everywhere else .... somewhere in there is my old piano .... oh and there is a wild momma cat with her newest litter .... ugh!!!!! its a total mess .... each week we put alittle bit more of the junk out for the garbage men to take ... stuff that was on the floor is water damaged and is damaged to much to save ... my goal is to have my garage back by next spring ....
oh .... good morning everyone ... lol today is my second day off ( i get mondays and wednesdays) so i hope to get the boys room painted .... we got the sparkling done on monday but had to let it dry before painting .... am going to take out the carpet in the room at the same time .... the linoleum underneath is old but at least it looks ok and is easier to keep clean ... the carpet in the room now is totally trashed ... gonna get footballteam throwrugs to put down by each bed (2 twins) and a large throw for the main room area ... also gonna work on tackling some of the laundry .... rearranging more of the kitchen(that is a room that is still in progress) .... and basic cleaning that needs to be done in all the other rooms .... wait a minute .......... didn't i say this was my day off from work?!?!?! oh well .... lol |
I hear ya Debbie..my day off..and doing laundry....already on like fifth load..I think...cant count...too many ppl here in this house..hehehe ltos of laundry...
hugss all, gloomy day out....not good for my body..not good for my mellow mood..ugggggg might go nap..hugss,sarah |
Hi everyone. I just seem too tired and fatigued to post much today. I got up when the boys left for work....went back to bed at 7 AM and slept until 10:15 AM. Got up, took a shower, put in a load of laundry and now I'm wiped out again. I just took a Provigil hoping that will get me moving. I just never know what the day is gonna hold for me with this MS stuff. I need to empty the dishwasher and fold the clothes that have been on my bed for two days (Tigger has been sleeping on them so maybe they should go back in the wash!!).
Sandy, I wish I had some of your energy. Our garage is clean but I could use it for something else.....like maybe getting dressed!! I'm still in my PJ's!. :rolleyes: Nothing new here so not much to post about. I hope everyone is doing good. :grouphug: |

I could use some of that energy myself, Sandy.
Kelly I am still in my jammies too! And am thinking that a nap is in order very soon! :o |
I hear ya, Char! I managed to empty the dishwasher, transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer, put in another load, fold a few towels and even put on a little makeup (it's just scary without it!! :eek:).
I can tell the Provigil is starting to work. Hey, maybe I'll even go check the mail!! :p |
I haven't even went to the garage! lmao I'll go out to straighten it out though soon. It's raining and cold so no water washing today.
|
I am on my second load of wash in the washer.... haven't emptied the dish washer but that is next. Did go to mail box!
DBF just called and said he will be home in a little over an hour! :eek: I guess I better get a shower and clean up a little!!!! |
Blech!! It's rainy and chilly out today...just want to wrap myself in an afghan and sleep the day away:Zzzz:.
There's so much to be done around the house, but whenever I think about beginning, I get so overwhelmed by it that I can't figure out where to begin...so much dust and disorganization all around. It's hard to make my brain get motivated. Wish I was rich so that I could hire someone to come in and organize and clean my house just once...you know, just the hard cleaning, like windows, blinds, walls, woodwork, all of that. Hope all of you watch the debate tonight, although there's not much more the candidates can say...can't wait until election day comes so that we don't have to watch those ads:vomit:. |
Good afternoon everyone, :)
Sarah, :hug::hug::hug: Go easy on yourself sweetie. DebbieD, Good luck with your online class, they can be fun! :) Deb, LOL about your garage story, you crack me up. :D Holly, God bless you for caring for your Grandma and everything else you do. Take it easy if you can. :hug: Everybody else... :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I got up just before noon myself, so I can't justify a nap today, lol. The last few days my left leg has been showing weakness again. <sigh> I keep scuffing the toe of my left shoe and I can feel the leg sort of noodling out a bit sometimes. I need to vacuum and shampoo downstairs so our house will be suitable for company. We were going to replace the 18 year old carpeting and linoleum but spent too much money on other things so that might to wait until springtime. I still need to clean bathrooms so I'll get off my heinie and do that. I voted yesterday so maybe I can be more relaxed as the election nears. :rolleyes: If I think about that too much I get stressed out. Rocky is sitting here next to me taking a bath. He's been on a diet for several months now and is finally down to his ideal weight of 8 lbs. :) The vet will be so pleased when he goes in for his spring appt. It can be really hard to control the weight of a neutered male cat. :rolleyes: Most that I've ever had tended to be obsessed with eating, lol. Also, we're thinking of calling him razor-toe. This is the first kitty we've adopted that wasn't declawed. He seems to be so much happier but you have to make sure you don't get sliced when he's playing, lol. Well, I'm going to play a couple of online games to get that out of my system then try to get some work done. Have a great Wednesday everybody! |

I haven't been to Starved Rock in more than 20 years. I'm glad you and Jim got to visit and see the fall foliage. Too bad about the storm damage though! Send me some energy vibes for cleaning today ok? ;) |

Well, I'm feeling much better this afternoon.....took my Provigil and now I'm no longer nodding off when I sit down!
I had taken some of the Omaha steaks out of the freezer yesterday for us to cook on the grill...plus some chicken breasts I had previously frozen. So, we'll cook on the grill tonight (or Kevin will at least!). He's the "griller" around here. I made some baked beans and just boiled some eggs for deviled eggs. I have some corn on the cob which I'll cook (steam) last. I'm hoping to be able to stay up and watch the last debate on TV tonight. I'll be sooooo glad when this election is over and all the negative ads stop. I'm so tired of all of it. |
Kelly, glad the provigil helped
Char, Totally hear ya. Been a slow go today for me too. :hug: Debbie, I get overwhelmed too sometimes. :hug: I just pick a room at a time for a project. Wiz, know what you mean about being careful. My tiger kitty still has her claws. Which is kind of unfair to our older cat, whom we adopted already declawed. Feel sorry for her until you watch her do some amazing stuff to protect herself when they decide to go at each other. It's like watching professional wrestling with the moves the older one pulls off - LOL Everyone, :grouphug::grouphug: ~~~~~~ Got nowhere near what I wanted to do today, but managed to get a couple of things here and there done. Right now, pizza delivery guy is on stand by. :D Found a recipe for baked chicken covered in Salsa. Five minutes before done, uncover and sprinkle with cheese. A good sign is that the smell while it's cooking is great. :) |
Roasted Chicken Recipe?
Does anybody have a good recipe for roasted chicken? I bought a whole "roaster" at the grocery store (good price) but I have never roasted a whole chicken before!! I've bought them in the deli before but never cooked a whole one myself. It can't be that hard.....but I was just wondering if any of you have a special recipe for one. :)
|

HK, If you have a basic cookbook it should give you general roasting instructions. I used to stuff it with Stovetop Stuffing and it was delicious!! Good luck, I hope it turns out tasty for you. |
thanks Wizzzzz
hugss all I did get a nap..woke and I am just in a funky mode...life has me a bit overwhelmed..when thinking of how short life can be...I want more time with the kids..and family... well tonight, after the family helps me put away some laundry so we have a table hehehe...>I am going to teach hubby and the three older kids..a card game...we have played over years and years...with my sister Madeline and her hubby Mark...and my parents and siblings..as we grew up...the game is HEARTS.....fun to play....and maybe try to make Wed nights family game night again...we used to play poker most weeks which was fun... So, about to do that, just every once in while..the tears want to flow all over again, just blahhhh it is cloudy..and my face is numb..body hurts...so that helps the blah feeling... I did just take a short walk with the four girls down to my parents house to visit a bit....my dad had just finished planting some Mums from funeral..out in the front garden for my mom.... hugsss all:grouphug: love ya, sarah |
Hi everyone!
I just got home from school about an hour ago. I am still dealing with my poor burning/tingling head. The increase in neurontin does not seem to be helping. My left leg still seems to be worse than usual so i am thinking this is a flare. I get so envious when you all talk about sleeping in. I can't seem to sleep past 6:30, and while I lay down when I get home from school, I do not fall alseep. Well, the ringer on my oven is going off so I guess that means my tater tots are done. I an such a great chef:rolleyes:. I am also having leftover chicken and mushrooms that I baked yesterday and some raw veg's. I need someone to come and cook for me. |
Hey all,
Getting ready to watch the final debate tonight. Hope everyone is having a good evening and hugs to everyone and anyone who needs them.:hug: Char and Jenn, hubby really is a great guy. I'm lucky to have him. It's taken him a while, though, to fully understand what I'm going through with this disease. He's made so much progress in just the past year.....it's amazing and I'm so thankful! Kelly, glad the provigil worked for you today. I don't know what I would do without it myself. Barb, sorry you're still feeling bad.:hug::hug: Hugs everyone!:grouphug: |
Hi Everyone! Yup, I'm still alive and kicking. My life has been a runaway train waiting to crash and burn from exhaustion. Too much to even post here, but I am holding my own and miss you all. Hope everyone is doing ok. Twink, I got your postcard and was so happy to hear from you. Glad to see your travelling around still. Looks like you can't keep a good girl down, LOL!!!
Char, that function I was tied up with October 25th & 26th may be cancelled, so maybe I'll make a gathering in New England yet. I'll be in touch. Take care everyone. I'll be around now and then when I can get two minutes to myself, LOL!!! Carolyn:hug: |
Good evening PearlieGirlie !! Good to see you around... glad you're hangin' in there, and keeping up with creating your beautiful works of art.
Hola, BluesieGirlie! We listened to the debate by streaming on the computer... everytime I heard some fudging I was hopping mad... good thing I don't have a TV, or it might be in pieces! Barb, that blows about the flare... I'm SPMS, so actual massive flares are rare for me now, just a slow accumulation of stuff, but yes, I'm having a big ol' pile-on at the moment too... so let's hold hands and comiserate... Have you considered retiring on SSDI, or are you holding out for a pension from your job? it's really horrible to contemplate going out on disability when the economy's so sucky, it's just flat scary, and my heart goes out to you, for trying to keep working when your body's betraying you. :hug: Sarah, honey, it's okay to let the tears flow, but remember your sister with joy, she wouldn't want you to fall apart now. :hug: Kell, we like to roast chicken on a bed of tropical fruit, like slices of pineapple, mango, and papaya, and continually baste the chicken with the juices... mi esposo does a divine cornbread stuffing, with apple and raisin bits, all that fruit keeps the chicken moist, and he covers the leg ends with foil so they don't burn. hope your chicken came out good! Frank and Angel-Baby-Girl, hope you're both doing well, and not overdoing it as usual! GollyGeeWiz? Did you get all the lovin' energy vibes I airmailed ya? San, did you get the garage all sparkly spick 'n' span? when we built the emergency shelter for our animals, we made the floor slope a bit, and put in a drain on the concrete floor, that leads to a soakaway in the orchard... that way we can hose the suckah out easily... there ain't no such critters here as powerwashers, lol! Finny, how'd YOUR chicken come out? that makes THREE of us that had chicken for dinner (we had chicken tostadas) my update thingamajiggerdealiebopper: we got an order for three ducks today, and it took two and a half HOURS to pluck them (I like to do things perfectly, lol, picture me there with tweezers, getting every last little pinfeather, so it looks good... wish me luck, hope this customer likes 'em, and orders more for his restaurant... oh, and I did an update for your DD's WokWok thread, NaeNae hope it makes you guys laugh, and puts a smile on Olivia's pretty little face... :grouphug: one more thing, mi esposo gave some fertile duck eggs to a broody hen sitting on ONE lonesome egg, so as not to waste her timeout... because she'll SIT there until something hatches, silly chicken! anyway, today she was rewarded with some STRANGE looking chickies, but she loves them all the same... hooray for foster-parenting! :grouphug: |
Morning all :) Just sipping my usual morning coffee and watching the rain fall. Temps are supposed to go down starting today. Yipee!
Making my to do list and checking it twice. :D ~~~~~~~~ Kay, chicken came out great! Made rice to go with it, and we had a great, simple meal. (I'm all about finding simple ways to do things these days :D ) Hubby even got seconds - always a good sign, LOL. Carolyn, Thanks for checking in. :) Hope all's going well. Barb, :hug: sorry to hear that things are going wonky. Hoping you feel better soon. :hug: Sarah, I think it would be great to teach them the game of Hearts and set up a game night. My in-laws used to play Spades (same rules, different suit) and canasta a lot. My family did board games and puzzles. My father used to buy a new big puzzle every year and set it up for us to put together slowly from Thanksgiving to Christmas. It's little things like this we remember. :) :hug: :hug: Everyone, hoping for a good day all around. :grouphug::grouphug: |
Sarah I haven't played hearts in years! I used to love that game! What a great idea. Back when I was married we had family night on Sundays. We had dinner that we sat at the bar (didn't have a kitchen table) and then we either watched a movie or played games. We each took a turn on what we would do for the night each week.
~~~~~ I worked on the baby sweater yesterday and I should have it finished this morning. Then I can start on the second one for the other brother in sister-in-law. To many babies!!! My dad has been struggling with Vertigo for over a month - the doctors finally scheduled him for a MRI tomorrow which I am going to go with them. We will be going to the local VA Hospital and am not sure if we will be seeing a doctor while we are there or just the MRI. Dad talked to the lady when they called to schedule it and he didn't ask to many questions. So if you don't mind saying a little prayer that we get some answers to his problems I would appreciate it and also that I can get my lazy butt up at 4:30am to get ready to meet them at 6:00! :eek: Thanks! |
Char, you've got my prayers. :hug:
|
Char............prayers on the way.:hug::hug:
My Update: moving slowly here.:( I have to be to an appt at ll am. Its the results of my sons neuropysch testing. Keeping my fingers crossed that the bruise on his brain is healed and that everything looks good.:) Stayed up to watch the debate...........Couldnt be more sure as to who I am voting for. So, that feels good.:) Everyone have a wonderful Thursday and sending you :hug::hug:. |
Mornin' all. Thanks for letting me know I'm still in your thoughts. That means more to me than you will ever know.
I think the storage unit has a lock on it now. Doesn't sound like DH was going to put one on. Made a big stink about having to tear the house apart looking for one. DS got one from his room so I think it is in use. Going to be a busy day today. Working on laundry now and will shower when its done. Meeting DH for lunch and to see some horses (and riders) who are passing through town today. Then it will be off to homeschool co-op, etc.,return home, make supper, then kid sit (DH idea) tonight. Whew! If I'm lucky DH will kid sit without me so I can go to a harp concert tonight. I haven't been to a harp concert in forever it seems. I think the last one was the same guy I hope to see tonight. Ready, set, gone... |
Just popping in with my roasted chicken recipe. I use Reynolds cooking bags - buy the "large" size. Then, you put fresh garlic on it, salt and pepper and some pats of butter. Cut up a large onion and put that on top of and around the bird - even pop some inside then take some baby carrots and put around the bird. I make mashed potatoes with mine because of my kids, but if it was just me, I would take some little redskin potatoes and put them in the cooking bag around the chicken.
With the cooking bag, it steams in all the juices and the bird and veggies come out wonderful with no fuss after putting it in the oven. There is a little instruction book in the box with the bags that tell you how long at what temp, etc. |
