Whats got me very confused though is, it says in that PDF to avoid scapula depression and to promote scapula elavation. My PT told me the complete opposite to that ?

It was nice to hear that but.....I still have cramps and for some weeks now a nerve pain starting from behind the head, going under the ear and ending under the chin is a new pain pattern.

Today I went to a chiropractor, my last hope now. Until now everybody has told me that my first ribs were fine but I have a feeling that they are not. The doctor made a few - for me intimidating - maneuvers and the unpleasant sounds of the joints confirmed what I had thought. He said that both ribs were blocked. The rest of my spine also made these sounds. I'll have a second meeting on Friday. The joints feel freed but my nerve is aching.

He also gave me an oil made of natural things like lavender and campher and a few more things for the extremely tight muscles. I also have to do some stretching, but nothing with the head.

Well, that's all for now. I'll tell you about the results.

Hope you are fine
Hi Hanna1, from a cold, dull/grey London

Have you given Tiger Balm RED a try?

I call it my little wonder jar..... it's very good at relaxing tight/tender muscles- natural ingredients too!

Look up the post by Jo*mar on Pressure points, its very interesting to see where pain can be transferred from. It may also help you in identifyng where you're pain may be originating from?????
http://www.pressurepointer.com/pain_reference_chart.htm

Stretch daily..... GENTLY and think POSTURE.

I've also found advice about the scapula to be seemingly inconsistent and/or incomplete.

But the book "Fixing You: Neck Pain & Headaches" has a lot of notes on the scapula including how high it should sit, at what angles and how it should rotate during movement. It also gives some exercises around the scapula. Interesting stuff.

It might be of interest to read about.

This link/website explains it nicely -

Thank you so much for this article. It was stunning to read about the symptoms and to realize that I experience so many of them. Incredible.

I'll ask the doctor about the atlas. I am not so sure whether he is doing that or not.

I'll give the tiger balm a try. My elder son loves it for his stiff neck (from playing computer games ). I will also look for the pressure pointer. Has anyone of you this device and does it do any good?

The neck still feels "free" but for the whole day now I have had such an awful headache, starting from the whole head and now remaining on the "bad" side. Could it be from the manipulation of the neck?

I have taken my second dose of ibuprofen 400. Don't like that but pain is worse than the bad conscience because of the meds.

I'll keep you informed about the chiro therapy.

The sun has left Germany and now it is also dull and grey here but not cold .

I bought a pressure pointer long ago, it helped for the places I couldn't reach, but the wooden tip should have been made with a firm rubber - it is too hard and has a slippery finish so slides off the TrP quite easily.

but really it is not necessary to have the tool -any small firm ball or small rubber object will work fine if you don't have a good friend w/ thumb or finger tip close by.

I found tennis balls, a smaller dog ball & even a golf ball will work fine.

You can lean on them against a wall or door, or for more pressure lay on them on the floor and roll around to find the spots that need the focused pressure.

and here is the user guide with tips & how to treat the TrPs from the same site-

I asked the doctor about the atlas therapy and he said that he would do it (like Arlen). Next week after his holiday we'll give it a try.

After the first ribs have been de-blocked (?) the cramps have lessened a bit as well as the nerve pain behind the ear. But I have a pressure on the ears and I hear a irritating ringing in the ears .

Well, it seems as if I cannot have all.

Have a nice Sunday.

Hello dear members,

some time has gone by since I was here. Three weeks ago my dear granny died and the last time in her life was very unpleasant. So I was not much on the computer.

Good news from the TOS side. The doctor has set (?) my spine and the first ribs, during the second meeting he positioned (?) the atlas. I get acupuncture, B12 injections and something to regulate the acid-base equilibrium.

Well, do not count your chickens before they are hatched..but I feel like coming out of a straitjacket. The squeezed feeling has been reduced by - I would say - 70 percent and the nerve under the chin has calmed down a lot. The severe cramps have not occured since he has set the spine and the ribs. In the night the arms are no longer deadening so often and the ulnar nerve does not hurt any more.

As you can imagine I am afraid that the results will not be here to stay, but I really do hope so. I am so happy.

The doctor is convinced that it will still become a lot better. Before his treatment I thought that I definitively did not want to live with those cramps for the rest of my life but now I can say, if it doesn't get better beyond this stage I could endure it.

Well, I'll keep you informed on the healing process.

All the best to you all.

I also hope that the good results will last.

What I wanted to mention is how grateful I am that somebody (sorry I forgot who.. ) sent the link to the interview with Dr. Stoxen. This was the most important thing for me. I started looking for somebody who would do the mobilization correctly and when I heard how my spine and my first ribs "cracked" I knew that I was on the right track.

Thank you so much for all your precious links and hints and whatever.

That's great. That was me by the way. Here is the thread for others' reference:

Can you tell us about the B12 shot? Is that something you sought out or was recommended? And why? What was your experience with it?
