i keep eating
i was doing pretty well until the trip. then had pizza when we went out. dad and i split a bottle of wine (both had a lot more than usual). since coming home i have been at the bread - normally eat very little bread. granted we went through a couple of five-grain loaves that i LOVE (usually we have whole wheat) also my mom brought home some nut rolls and some herb rolls which she didn't care for so i had my share of one and most of the other.
but today the yummy stuff is gone and it's like... go to fridge. open. stare in there. hmmm what can i eat... hmmm... what's yummy... so far: 1 yogurt, 1 chicken leg, 1 anchovy sandwich. and it's only noon now. yesterday i had three anchovy sandwiches interspersed through the day. thank goodness that bread is finished - and now, so are the anchovies! :o ~ waves ~ |
Waves,
Oh, I was reminded of anchovies the other day. Your post made me think of them again. My mom used to put them on pizza she made. I'm not eating pizza so I will have to think of something else. Maybe i can eat them in a salad. M. |
from anchovies to olives
Ahh... someone else who likes anchovies! :D Mari, they are good in salads btw. especially with fresh or sundried tomatoes too. the potassium in the tomatoes will also offset the sodium content of the anchovies.
well... going along my day... 3pm. tack on a handful of strawberries and two slices of wheat bread slathered generously with... green olive paste! we don't usually have olive paste but i guess it was on special or something - mom got a jar of black olive paste too! however, this one was already open, and in the fridge - mom says it will go rancid if not eaten fast... so i am just being helpful, see? yeah, that's the only reason i'm eating it. sure. uhuh. and if you buy that, i got some land in Florida i could sell you too... ~ waves ~ |

you are doing so well.
i am very proud of you! :) ehhh... could you maybe do some treadmill to burn off some of the calories *I'M* eating, too? :D:p hehe man i have just been waaaay overboard since coming back. never re-settled. finally got up the guts to get on the scale - up two pounds! now part of that is likely transient (or clothing) - but probably 1 lb is real. :( ~ waves ~ |

I have to get a life for finding new foods.
It all sounds good. But I dont seem to find any that sounds good. Donna |
hi folks
Dear Beth,
that menu made my mouth water! Dear Donna, changing food choices is hard. some things are acquired tastes, and some people have a narrower range of foods they like than others. one thing you might try is perhaps making modifications to foods you already like. for instance, one modification we have made is on mashed potatoes - instant or real. we used to use a lot of milk and some butter. now we use very little milk, and little or no butter. also for things like this you could use skim milk. speaking of which, at one point in my life i drank skim milk. (not now because - don't laugh - we can't get it here, not fresh anyway.) even though i was already used to 2%, switching to skim i thought it tasted like water. however after a couple of weeks i got used to it and then it tasted quite ordinary to me. i would get 2% or whole as a treat sometime - and they tasted like cream!:D i don't know if this is helpful. maybe you already do this stuff. ~ waves ~ |
Thanks for the ideas.
Yes I did change the kinds of milks. I haven't been able to change to skim milk. Never could get used to the taste. I just wouldn't drink it if I bought it. So its been 2 % that we have for me. I also do what I can to do other things. I love mashed potatoes and I have a variety of things I add to them on any given night. I never know which item I ame, going to like in any given night. So it makes it hard. Some time I rotate foods around. And right now I have fought to figure out if anything sounds good. Its just like nothing ever o sounds good. Donna |
I discovered how simple and good a baked sweet potato tastes!
Simple and easy to cook in the microwave. very nutritous and better carb choice than a reg potato. I put 2 ...5 inch long sweet potatos into the micro wave for 5 minutes done perfect!!!! (no wraping or poking needed) how simple and tastey!!!!!! I ate mine plane Jeff did put alittle spread on his. |
