78 mnts is good. What do you do to keep your mind of the mechanical, repetetive movement?

Exercising outdoors is so much more beautiful. Of course, when I go to the mountains, I use every trick in the book, which includes ultra-violet proof clothing, and walk all day. But cities are not my thing! :( And at least for the next few years I am stuck.

I tend to watch T.V., or think of designs I am working on at the time.
I am going to the psychiatrist today, and unfortunately, for all his brilliance, he refuses to believe I have problems sleeping. So refuses to prescribe anything to help with that.

So today I am going armed with hard copies of research that links Lupus to sleep disturbances. I have also emiled them to him last night. I shall have a 'so there' look on my face when I give them to him.

I shall now get ready for my appt. I expect most of you to be asleep now.
Mari, I hope you are able to get some sleep too.

Not editing, bcoz I hv 2 rsh.

we had steamed salmon for dinner. i put olive oil on it instead of tartar sauce. :o a sacrifice... i *love* tartar sauce. broccoli cauliflower and carrot mix on the side. my parents had potatoes too, but i only tasted a small bite of those.

i didn't have the ooky lecithin tonight there weren't any of the "evil" fats in what i ate. if i snack later, i'll have it then.

oh, i had a beer too. :o

had about 3 oz of feta-like cheese for brunch.

I am in India bizi and the time here is GMT+5.30 hrs.

I saw my pdoc a few hours ago.
He'd already seen the e-mails that I sent him. :)
He does agree that I have a sleep disorder, but is not happy about my popping Xanax.

I had my left, lower wisdom tooth out about three and a half weeks ago. There was some cutting and breaking involved and as is normal with lupus, the wound took ages to heal, actually still healing. There was quite a bit of pain and I had to take a narco-type painkiller (T), along with the normal painkillers (NSAIDS) that I take regularly, as often as five times a day.

On a normal day I get by with just one T with the NSAID an hour before I get up from bed and then just take the NSAID every six hours after that.
T is well known for causing insomnia, and is highly addictive, so even on a bad day I don't pop one anytime after 5 P.M., and when the pain begins, grit my teeth, take a Xanax and go to bed early.

Because of the stupid tooth, I had to have five Ts a day for the first ten days or so, then tapered it down to four for a while, then three and now I am on two.

With that many Ts sleep didn't stand a chance and I needed 2 mgs of Xanax to even begin to want to put my head down on a pillow.

I know that I need to start tapering off. Otherwise it will ultimately pickle my brain.
He has given me 25 mg of Dosulepin, a TSA to try to help sleep and plans to increase it gradually.

I am not going to start right away. I've just started making some progress with my weight loss and I need to look for something that will least effect it.
A cousin had been on Amytriptilline for years and put on a lot of weight. She is on Paxil now, but eating seems to have become an addiction.

Now that my steroid Rx is lower, I want to do my best to get rid of as much of the weight I carry around as possible.

Tonight I've just had 1.75 mg of Xanax. I'll wait to see how that does. I also will be seeing my Rheumatologist next week, so will ask him for his take.

BTW, T also has some AD properties, so I'm flying a bit too.

Back to the Diet Thread

Just under 50 minutes of cycling.
About 22 K.M.s
506 Calories.

Dinner: 1 Roast chicken drumstick in caramelised orange juice - all sticky,
1 tablespoon of rice,
Steamed Zuccini, red cabbage and carrots,
Yogurt with rock salt and roasted and ground cumin.
Drained cottage cheese sweetened with palm sugar.
+/- 500 calories I think

bizi 08-17-2010 06:53 PM

Dear waves, I think that your olive oil probably had the same amount of calories as your tartar sauce, the amount would be a difference though...I hate sacrificing too!
Sounds like a good dinner!:)

Isis you have alot on your plate, sorry about your tooth.
I had one where they had to cut and break and dig...ouch I know that that hurts!:(

3 oz avocado 150
cup of milk 90
vitamins 25
subway 350
1/2 cup of red beans,cajun style 140
4oz of pork chop boneless 160
sauted zuchinni and yellow squash 190
salsa 20
total for day=1125

waves 08-17-2010 07:28 PM

Dear Bizi

mmmmmm... cajun style beans. :)

you remind me i want to make up some beans for myself.

oh, yes the olive oil. i wasn't trying to reduce calories - i don't count calories at all. i am just trying to avoid the "bad" fats when i can. i already had cheese today, and i think that tartar sauce also has less-healthy oils in it - saturated fats, maybe even transfats. i should check. (it would be nice if it isn't as bad as i think it is! :))

my dad bought two avocados today so i think we'll be having some soon too.
