Gee thanks. :D

You guys are giving me food ideas.

After I read about the hot dog eating I started wanting one.
Also, a FL avocado.
I bought both but have not prepared them.

I'm a little freaked out by the egg recall in the US.
I read the lists of brands and lot numbers and whatever as they update but I went and bought another doz despite my anxiety because hubby is eating them right now and if they are in the house I eat them too.

Maybe the eggs are safe if they are cooked a lot. Hubby eats his well done hard boiled. I soft-scramble mine (Every time I fix an egg I remember my grandmother making French-style scrambled eggs after church on Sunday. That's a good memory. :) )

Twix

Ate both the sticks of a pack of Twix on Friday.
Not feeling that guilty 'though.
I'm hoping that the 45 - 50 mnt cycling that I do everyday will cover the once-in-a-while indulgences. And my normal meals are frugal.
That very night I didn't manage the cycling - wasn't feeling great.
But last night I cycled again.

Tonight is the Cincinnati finals. There is nothing like watching Tennis while exercising.
Fed X vs Mardy Fish.
Fish is quite capable of giving back as good as he gets.
I hope he does. I loooove Federer. But too easy a win is no fun.

this would freak me out too. :( soft-scrambling is not enough. let me check on the time...

if they are recalling i would be concerned even with cooking. probably suggests greater-than-normal risk.

what a pain. it is hard to keep after this stuff. i am hoping the retailers are on the ball enough (and worried enough about law suits) to make sure the recalled stuff doesn't make it to the shelves.

maybe, you can determine a local producer of eggs, that you know isn't recalling, and stick with that one until the storm blows over.

Dear Mari

i could not find out a clear cooking time/temp to kill salmonella... i seem to remember boiling for 15 mintues type thing from years ago... but i don't know what it was in reference to. :o anyway, recalled eggs should be avoided, period. if the contamination is high, there may be a risk even after cooking. not to mention kitchen contamination.

in general... i soft-scramble my eggs too. i like them that way. the "ordinary" risk, although present, is low. we risk getting killed any time we cross the street - but still cross it.

YOu are so right on this waves!

Had a great time in pensicola! ate wonderful food, seared tuna with crawfish ettoffee and fresh sugar snapped beans or peas, prime rib steaks, blackend grouper a really tasty shrimp salad with homemade pastry puff chips...they were delicious! omelettes as big as your head this morning with cheesy grits...and yes....I once again got bush whacked....
:o

bizi 08-22-2010 09:18 PM

bush whackers...lets see...rum, chocolate flavoring, it is in a machine so it just comes out frozen and premixed and wonderful! kind of like a mudslide, from fridays. bizi :o

last night dinner
- grilled chicken with lots of olive oil drizzled on it! (probably about 2 tbsp, total)
- mixed green salad, cukes, tomato. (no oil or dressing).

this morning ~ 5 am
- 1/2 anchovy + tomato sandwich.
- cheese sandwich. with tartar sauce.

noon with zoloft
- anchovy + tomato mega-sandwich (4 anchovies, 2 tomatoes)

the deal with the anchovies - dad got a big jar of them. that upset my mother because she says they spoil too quick. my job, over the next few days, will be to ensure they don't last long enough to spoil!

i've also been eating peanuts on and off. probably about 1/2 a cup a day, few here, few there.
