Heart I just want some sleep

I didn't sleep well last night because of this whole Mayan calendar, people dressed as zombies, end of the world parties stuff going on in my city last night. I just got my 2 youngest children laid down for naps, put a movie in for my oldest daughter, unplugged the phone, then came in here to lay on the couch and get a good nap. And guess what? My next door neighbor is using a tractor. He had a huge pile of dirt delivered and now he's spreading it around his yard. The bucket thing clangs and is loud, the motor is loud. I just want to scream. This is seriously putting a kink in my whole day. Thanks for listening.

Totally. That working-with-big-machines-thing while I want to sleep really stinks.
Maybe at least you got some quiet time to relax while they are napping.

Hey there Butterfly,

I am so sorry. Do you have earplugs? I don't like to sleep with them, but i do for cases like yours. Although i suppose if you have little kiddies one might not want to do that. Heck. Well just a thought. Also different kinds of plugs, or just inserting them looser or tighter will have smaller and greater effects... something perhaps to experiment with.

I'm surprised about the end of the world parties. here we are getting it on the news, but nobody is doing wild stuff or having parties.

Yuck-O about the tractor just when you thought you could rest. As a frequent day-sleeper, my personal nemeses are hedge-trimmers and leafblowers. Even good earplugs only muffle those (better than nothing, but).

I am glad you vented. I hope you manage to get some rest by hook or by crook. I am having this little head thing like... i hope your neighbor's tractor has a mechanical problem heehee. bad waves, bad bad waves... LOL!!!

Butterfly,

So sorry, around my area. A tractor is really around most of the time.

So its something that is there.

So if one is around and I have to get around it. I turn on some music.
And think of nice things.

Thanks everybody for understanding. I was a little freaked out last night. But I haven't been getting consistent sleep for a while. And that makes me so desperate for a nap during the day. Some mornings the first thing I think of when I wake up is how can I get in a nap today? I take visteril at night which is pretty much like benadryl from what I understand. I also take melatonin which is an over the counter sleep aid. The Sonata I got from pdoc last time doesn't do much. I end up having to take a xanax at night if I'm still awake at 12 or 1am, which puts me a xanax short for the next day (I take 2 per day).

Has anybody tried Remeron? I see it comes in a generic. Maybe I could talk to pdoc about that when I go in 2 weeks.

Trazadone gave me atrial fib and ambien makes me mean. So those are out.

Hi,

That sounds like a normal day for me!!

What time do you take the melatonin? My sleep neuro said to take it two to three hours before bedtime. He said it can help some people fall asleep. He also said to only take about one half a gram (500 mgs).

Does it work for you to take the Xanax?

Remeron / Mirtazapine could work to help with sleep and to alleviate depression:

Butterfly Oh I know what you mean. I picked a time during the day to get some sleep years ago,and someone started to use a jack hammer on the road. I didn't give up,and I still tried to sleep, but I became outraged, and infuriated. To this day I still hate the sound of Jack Hammers. I live in a rural area now though. They have tractors out here though. BF

I take seroquel usually at 3 AM. It's a powerful medication that usually helps me to sleep. I have a problem with going to bed early. I don't know what it is. It makes me feel like a dud during the day. It's a anti psychotic. It has a side affect of weight gain. I wish that they could make a medicine that didn't have all of these side affects. BF

Hmmm Mari - maybe that it my problem. I take it right before I brush my teeth (it is a liquid) which is about 5 minutes before I lay in bed. I try to hold myself to a be in bed by 10pm rule. I am pretty good about that. I may have the tv on or be on the laptop, but I'm in bed. I used to be up folding laundry, etc. but I force myself now to stay in bed even if I can't sleep. I take 10mls which is what it says on the bottle. There's 2.5mg in 10 mls. Maybe I should take 20 mls and see what happens. And I'll take it tonight at 8pm instead of 10pm.

Yes, the xanax usually works to relax me enough so I can fall asleep. Either that or I am so tuckered out by 1am that a little extra help is all I need. Or it's a placebo effect? I don't know.

But this is what I haven't been able to figure out for years now - why is it that it is so unnerving some nights to fall asleep at night, yet when I lay on the sofa at 1pm I can literally fall asleep within 5 minutes, no anxiety, and no medication required? And I sleep like a log. My naps are such restful sleep. I wish I could fall asleep and stay asleep like that at night!
